Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere is a lot of noise that can be heard from the sidewalk below at all hours and through the walls and windows. The hot water was hot or miss; took a cold shower one day and a hot shower another time.
The room suited our needs. Nice choice of vendors right outside the door. The staff were all helpful and nice!

United StatesThe street noise is not that bad because the windows are very good at keeping it out. But be aware there is noise from both the hallway and the street. Nothing out of the ordinary.
The room was spacious and comfortable. We got the 4 bed family room on the 3rd floor. I would recommend this one. It was quieter. The location is easy to find and it’s right next to the school and community sports facilities, so there is a vibrant evening and night life - but it’s mostly families. Lots of affordable foods around. A good value. Our daughter got sick and they accommodated our request to stay until our train left in the evening.

FranceYou can hear noise from a bakery early in the morning which is located on the lower level of building. But as most people get up early for Machu Picchu it was ok. Unfortunately, we had to suffer through noisey guests who were talking and banging doors at 1:30am, no respect for others. I wish the reception would of said something to them 🙉

PortugalIt's an interior room, and the curtains can't completely block out the light. There's always some noise, so it might be uncomfortable for people who don't usually sleep well.
Great location, although everything in town is fairly close anyway. They had an employee waiting for us at the station, though we missed them 😅. Everyone on the staff is very nice! The bed linen is warm and comfy.

New ZealandDid not respond to any of our messages or emails prior to arrival. Stairs up to rooms would not suit those with health issues. Cold shower first morning at 5am - although it was fine from then on in.
Basic clean accommodation. Good location close to train station with many shops/restaurants close by. Offered Luggage Storage after check-out (while we went back up to Machu Picchu).

United StatesOur room was by the street window overlooking a football park and the street has all commercial activity, and the noise can be heard in the room but it stops late at night. No elevator but you shouldn't bring too much for the Machu Picchu trip anyway. The whole town is filled with activity so just appreciate the vibrant bustling energy of the town. Main streets to hotel were steep but manageable, so its harder uphill and easier downhill to the bus stops and Peru Rail.
This is an economy no frills lodging just to make sure we had an early start going to Machu Picchu, and conserve our energy. So we took one of the last trains to Machu Pichu station from Cusco center to spend the night in this hotel. There was staff early in the morning that stored our luggage and do our early check out. The walk to the bus stop and PeruRail was okay and not far. Room and bathroom was spacious, hot water was good. Near restaurants, shops, and convenience stores. The area is off the touristy zone so you will experience more of the normal living of the locals/neighborhood.

NetherlandsThe town is very loud, even until late. Fanfare music was playing basically all the time. The good thing is that there was a small patio which means 2 doors that can close. This made it manageable, but you couldn't then open the window to let some colder air in.
The rooms were spaceous enough. The beds were very comfortable. The showers worked great too. Everything looked clean.
