How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room was spacious, super clean, and it has everything you need, like internet, TV, hot water, hair dryer, heater, etc. I was greeted in the room with snacks and cookies. I was also allowed to store my luggage during the day when I visited Machu Picchu. The best thing of it is its location! I took the train to Aguas Calientes, and the hostel was about 5 min walk from where I got off the train. Similarly, it's about 5 min walk to the train station where I took the train back to Cusco (a different location). And it's 2 min walk to the ticket office to buy bus tickets to Machu Picchu, and 2 min to the cultural center to buy Machu Picchu tickets. Everything is right at hand

Verified reviewI used the location as a base to visit Machu Picchu, and for this it was perfect. I caught the bus to Machu Picchu on two days, and the ticket office and bus departure point were just around the corner. There are some parts of the town that are very steep, but the location of this hostal isn't in a steep area, which suited me. The hostal is also close to the main street - so easy access. Near the front desk is a lounge area with access to teas and filter coffee - all complimentary. Room and bathroom were a decent size. The shower had nice warm water. Plenty of towels, and even towels to wipe/clean shoes. I liked that the room had big windows, that I could open, see onto the street, and could equally close the curtains if I wanted darkness/privacy. When I arrived to the room, there was an Australian flag (I'm Australian) with a bag off goodies - I thought that was a thoughtful, nice touch. Good value for the price.
Perhaps a bit of "lost in translation" (I speak English mostly, a bit of Spanish, and the person at the front desk didn't speak much English), but when I asked about a laundry service, the person at the front desk guided me to an area down the street where there were lavenderías. I thought I saw there was an in-house laundry service on my booking, and later I saw in my room that there was an advertised in-house laundry service. A bit strange, but maybe there was a misunderstanding. I had a TV in my room that didn't work (it said not connected), and when I enquired I was told that the TV didn't work in that room. I don't know why there would be a TV in there, but it not work. I asked if I needed to pay more, but that didn't seem it. I was sent a message saying that I could be moved to another room free of charge, which did have a working TV. So I appreciate the offer - though I still don't understand why that TV didn't work! While I liked the windows in term of airflow and light, they did allow quite a bit of street noise in. It was a little noisy until quite late at night (dogs, voices), but during the small hours of the morning, the streets were quiet. Would have liked it to have air conditioning - though it did have a windows that open/close + a portable heater.

Verified reviewThe room was big. Shower was good and warm. The staff were very helpful. There is a small social area with all utensils, like water hot and cold, microwave, plates etc. This place would be really perfect, if it weren't so humid and the walls were covered in mould.
The bedroom wall was covered in mould, similarly with walls and ceiling in the bathroom. The smell of mould was everywhere, even in the bed linen. It was difficult to sleep and breathe because of that. If the place had a functioning dehumidifier it would, and got rid of the mould problem, it would be really great.

Verified reviewThe location was very convenient! A couple of steps away from the bus to Macchu Picchu and a couple of steps the other way to the main streets for restaurants. They left a nice welcome bag of goodies that had a flag of our country. It was a nice touch! The room was comfortable and spacious.
The shower was not as burning hot as I like it but it wasn’t cold either.

Verified reviewGreat option if you’re going to Machu Picchu very early in the morning as the property is located only 1 minute from Consettur Bus station. The staff was very kind and we were able to use the communal area and facilities until late in the evening when we had our train back to Cusco.

Verified reviewThe quiant little property, with super clean rooms, friendly staff, and amazing location. The place was a catch for the price. The bus stop was right behind the property and very close to the ministry of cultura. They even provided a small welcome package with some treats along with the flag of our country, which was very cute. I would definitely recommend this place. The room had all the basic amenities.
Our room was adjacent to the street so we could clearly hear all the street noises.
