Mariela and Melisa, Mariela’s daughter, are the best hostesses. The location is prime to visit Vinicunca and Palcoyo, the 7-color mountains. Also a short drive to Pitumarca and the ruins of Machupitumarca. The hotel was spotless, comfortable and convenient. Kudos to Mariela and her family for keeping her family’s casona and making a welcoming oasis for us tourists.

Very cosy, very private, very authentic. Meals prepared and served individually. Great lication to start tours to Palccoyo and/or Vinicunca.

    All good.

The owner was genuinely welcoming, attentive and professional--knowledgeable, too, about sites and places to include in the itinerary, as well as how best to get to Polccoyo, which was our destination and beyond expectations compared to Vinicunca. The facilities were excellent, as was the breakfast. I hope to come here again and will certainly recommend it to my friends.

    Nothing to report here.

    House from outside looks nice

Rooms are dirty and very very cold. You cannot sleep because it’s SO cold. Also the water was cold (cannot take a shower). After complaining, the staff was not helping out.

    Nice historical building

We were freezing at night. The rooms were small and very dirty, they didn’t have a heather and the bathroom was in the garden not in the room. Breakfast was poor.

In Peru no heating and no good windows, so night is cold.

The hotel is located in Checacupe which is a great jumping off point if you are visiting either of the rainbow mountains. It is a very cute quaint charming "casona" that has a wonderful old time feel but with updated modern rooms and bathrooms. The family that runs the hotel is so kind, welcoming, and helpful. They knew we would be out in the mountains all day and that there were no real lunch options, so they offered to make us lunches to go. The lunches were so helpful and delicious too. My 81 year old father couldn't come with us into the mountains, so he stayed back at the casona. The hosts were so kind to let him stay at the hotel and even included him in their family meal. If I had long lost relatives in Peru, I would want these people to be my family there.

The owner and staff were amazing, very kind and flexible. They helped us organise our trip to the rainbow mountains and treated us like family! The whole Casona is so warm and cozy. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, made with local ingredients. I would love to go back one day!

The room was clean and super comfy ! We were scared to be cold at night but the blankets were heavy and really warm. Our host proposed us a dinner which was delicious as well as the breakfast. Giselle also organised for us our way to the rainbow mountain with a private driver who waited for us while we were hiking. Everything was great ! Thanks a lot 😘

We loved the location - the town is small and cute, without too many other options. This property is perfectly located to walk around town and see their beautiful main square church. The food was great too. It was a good option if you don't want to return to Cusco overnight and plan to see more things in the area. The property was well priced and our room was very nice and clean. It's family owned and they put their heart and soul into being good hosts!

We only had cold water to the bathroom sink, didn't try the shower. And the water is cold mountain water - it'll wake you up in the morning for sure! If you let the property know what time you arrive, make sure you're accurate in that estimate or you might run the risk of them not being home. Every time you leave the property, you have to ring a door bell to come back in. The rooms have no heat but they were kind enough to provide us with a gas heater when we asked. These are just "things to keep in mind" and not necessarily bad. It was a really cute property with very nice hosts and very accommodating. With all this said, we'd stay here again!
