How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI love this boutique hotel which the location is unbeatable. You are away from the famous 12 angle stone is less than one minute walk. The hotel is in the center of the San Blas and three blocks away from the main square. The hotel is surrounded by tons of shopping and restaurants. The hotel itself is very peaceful and well decorated. The staff are very nice and the breakfast is wonderful. I would highly recommend Amaru Inca which you visit Cusco.

Verified reviewThe location was great.
- We stayed for two nights and both mornings workers were working starting before 7am and making very loud noises right outside of our door and woke us up from our rest. We opened the door and spoke with the worker and asked him to stop. - On the evening of day 2, we came home to ANTS all over our bed and inside our luggage. We took pictures and videos. - We spoke with the manager about both issues. With regards to the noise, he blamed the festivities going on in town. He completely dismissed the fact that we saw and spoke with the workers who made the nosie and continued the lie about the origin of the sound. - About the ants he basically said "you are in the garden suite so there are more ants" and that we should have asked for a different room. This is specially aggravating because we specifically requested for a high floor in our booking and this was not respected but we understand this is not always available and did not complain or make any comments when we arrived. But this was turned against us. - We brought up the fact that we have rental property ourselves and strive to make our clients' stays pleasant and that ants are unacceptable. We offered the chance for him to make things right by providing us with a partial refund as we would do ourselves. He outright refused and immediately accused us of "extortion". This is absolutely unacceptable behaviour in hospitality. - Lastly, the breakfast is very poor compared to what we experienced in other hotels for 3 weeks in South America. Nearly all the other hotels we chose cost less than this one. - We appreciate Booking.com for providing a partial refund of one night of the stay once these issues were reported.

Verified reviewA lovely boutique hotel in a perfect location in Cusco. Easy to walk to all the main tourist spots in the city, but the courtyard gardens make it feel like an oasis! Breakfast is good, and staff were really helpful. I looked forward to coming back here each night.
The courtyard can be a little noisy if people areive late at nighy, and some of the rooms are a little small, but overall I would highly recommend it.

Verified reviewLocation was great for walking everywhere. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful. Location is also fairly convenient to the airport and train station.
Streets are very narrow in this area so you have to be very careful and watch for cars!

Verified reviewThe location was excellent in the heart of Cusco's historic district. The hotel is located in the San Blas neighborhood and very walkable to good restaurants and the Plaza de Armas. The complimentary breakfast was good with a selection of fruits, breads, ham, cheese, granola & yogurt. They make to order eggs for you as well. Our room had a great view of the city and was very large and comfortable. The heating goes on from 6pm to 6 am although we didn't need heat in May. I also liked the tables and chairs in the courtyard. It was nice to sit and drink the complimentary teas that are always provided.
Our only complaint would be that we could hear people in the neighboring rooms and courtyard. It's not really a complaint though, more of an observation. The hotel is old, like all the hotels in the area so we expected the level of noise we heard. It didn't keep us awake a night.
