How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewLots of broken things. Lock to our bedroom was broken (could literally pull the door open). Place was dirty. Was stood waiting outside for 10 minutes before anyone came to the door.

Verified reviewPerfect location, Sebastian from the Staff, kind boy, very helpful, the room Las Perlas very good. They have everything to use in the kitchen: fridge, big stove, utensils, good a/c at the room, the common space are good . You feel secure, and nobody touches your things.
They can be better. Pay attention to details.

Verified reviewThis place is okay, they have breakfast every morning, and they staffs were really friendly, that made the place comfortable for me , it was very affordable, their wifi was of high speed, the location of the hostel is at the center of the city . Beside is a store where you can buy things , many stores around the place, everything I needed was around the place , I feel to visit again . Thanks to Zebulo Hostel.
They will improve in one or two things as they are really working hard .

No AC was available. I stopped here for several hours to have some rest and take a shower when I had a layover in Panama City. I didn't expect this hostel to be a 5-star hotel but the AC was in the listing so I expected it to be available and it was very important for me. I wasn't able to sleep because the guy from the reception said that the AC will be only at 7pm (useless for me, I planned to leave at that time). No fan was provided too. It is hot in Panama City 24/7, not only after 7pm! Also so a cockroach in the shower. And you cannot use the lockers if you don't have your own lock

The guy at the reception was rude and a little bit weird. I didn’t feel welcome there by this guy. Also the 3 bunkd bed is such a weird system, not a huge fan

Verified reviewLocation is great a lot of restaurant, cafes and bars nearby. Hostel doesn't list parking available however they let me park my motorcycle on their porch, and there's plenty of cars parked on the street. If you pay with card they'll charge 5% which is pretty standard for hostels in Panama city, they offer tours and bike rentals

We did not feel welcome by the staff. Quite unfriendly, we almost felt like a bother at times. Check-in was not easy, had to download an app and only one person could get the “key” - not convenient when you travel with a friend. The water was cut off on our last night (which can happen), but the staff did not inform us when we arrived after dinner. And when this was pointed out to them, the reply was “yes I know”. After a discussion we received a bucket of water, that then again was removed in the morning (where there was still no water).

Verified reviewThe hostel location is great just few minutes from the Via Argentina station, super easy to do everything and as well to reach Tocumen Airport. Nice travellers to meet there, good vibes. Their system with digital locks is amazing and it makes a secure place. It's very appreciated to have pancakes included for the price. They have a great book with all informations needed to visit and you can as well contact them via whatsapp to help you with everything you need. It's clean there, totally disagree with some reviews I read.
No complains just book it. It's a great price relation quality. Many thanks for everything.

Verified reviewBreakfast was included, I believe pancake mix that were for the travelers. We did not use it as we just weren't into cooking this holiday other than for my dog. Big shared kitchen. Three directions around hostel were fabulous but the fourth is a high crime area and just to go in and out for metro or grocery store with wisdom of the people struggling and wanting what maybe you have (con artists, beggars, busy big street with little crossings). Lots of excellent restaurants close by! We had a double private room and shared bathroom down the hall that was great for us and such a positive experience to come back too with cleaned sheets etc. (stayed previously 10 days, travelled and then returned for another 8 days). My dog was very happy at this resource too. The staff cared to listen if anything needed addressing which is a bonus in itself and was not the same experience as some stays such as in Bocastown resource at Sun Havens Apartments (stay away). High swimming pool for those that want to use it that staff worked on regularly to keep it nice.
It can really depend on who is staying at a resource and not always about management but for one time out of 18 days our food was taken from the fridge by other travelers. That sort of thing is not nice and comes across as "sketchy" but again out of the hostels hands who rents there. For us only, we didn't like the shared bathrooms with men. When showering we would go early in the morning or later at night when it was slower. This can be typical in resources and for many people it would not be a bother for them. Probably next time we would book the private bathroom with room. Near end we would just close the door of the spacious bathroom for our quick showers.

Verified reviewThis is a lovely resource. A female seems to manage it and works very hard and shows the utmost respect to her guests. We stayed 10 days and then returned for another 8. I could smell the freshly washed sheets that were nice to return to. It is a hostel so not the grand Hotel but efforts were shown to accommodate all and while I was gone and returned they had done more work to the swimming pool. Full kitchen to use and nice staff and they did well cleaning the premises.
They offer laundry service but we like to do our own laundry and found a great resource at J&E laundromat. Could use more soap in the bathroom dispenser. Could put fluorescent tape or such to highlight step ups at front door as it causes tripping.
