How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewShittiest experience ever, arriving at this hotel at a normal check-in time at 6pm to find that they had given our room away to someone else without notifying us. Our booking on booking.com was still confirmed, they hadn't cancelled it and the last message we got from them was a day before, saying the booking was confirmed. On arrival the receptionist lied to us and said they had texted us on a couple of hours ago and asked us to pay in advance. We never received a text and even if we had, it is shitty to cancel a booking on the day when the whole of El Valle is completely booked out. If you want to make sure you get your confirmed room, make sure you arrive in the morning or don't bother booking at all as they will give your room to someone else with cash in hand without notifying you or cancelling the booking (because that would probably cost them...)!
The program app that you have to pay half of your reservations five days before your arrival, and no one lied, we sent you a message through the app whose registration is, because you did not enter your card details to arrive a day before, even the message was not answered. And they arrived at exactly 6:46 p.m. on a carnival Monday, where everything, absolutely everything as you say, was full. However, we were kind enough to find him a room so he could spend the night. But thank you very much Sandra, everyone gives the best who has the most.

Verified reviewIt’s a cosy cabin surrounded by nature!
They have BEDBUGS!!! I saw them on the bed and I had a lot of bites all around my legs. The bedsheets has a lot of small bloodstains, that’s one of the signs of bedbugs. We told the lady who work there, but she just ignored it and said it’s not bedbugs. We were just checking out when another couple was going to check in IN THE SAME ROOM as us. And I told her you if she really is going to put them in that room ? She said again it’s not bedbugs just mosquitoes. We showed her the bloodstain and everything but she just ignored. I just have a feeling she knew about this all along.
So disappointing that they asked to stay one more night and were given a great price because they would leave at dawn, but the check-in time for the new guests came and they had to ASK FOR THEM FOR THEIR ROOM and they got angry. The attitude of both of them was very shameful in distorting the situation and causing UNNECESSARY DISTRESS to the new guests with their ill-intentioned comments, because it was explained to them that in summer there is a mosquito called CHITRA, which leaves red dots on the skin where it bites and causes a lot of itching. You can write whatever you want about your stay, but disturbing other people's Peace as they did. It should not be allowed.

Verified reviewOutside was very very nice , the breakfast is very good, and the staff where very nice and tried to find a solution for an issue we had. They ended up switching our rooms.
The only thing is that once you get into the rooms, they could be cleaner and be given more maintenance. One of the "rooms" was not as shown in the pictures, and was divided unto two extremely small rooms. Smelt like humidity.

Verified reviewGood breakfast. You have to ask for what you want. There was no menu when we were there. It's a quiet location.
You absolutely need a car. You can hangout on your balcony but there's no real view and we felt that it was a bit dark.

Verified reviewVery cute little houses, and very very friendly staff. Location is a bit out of town so you’ll need a car to get there. The rooms itself are a bit outdated and could use some upgrading, but all in all it’s fine for a short stay. Lots of birds to spot!

Verified reviewStayed for the night and it was off road. It was good for just the night but the cabin I stayed in had a mold smell. The stay was ok and the owner/receptionist was expectational. She stayed many hours late at night waiting for us to arrive. Overall, apart from the smell, it was a good experience.
