You absolutely need a car. You can hangout on your balcony but there's no real view and we felt that it was a bit dark.

Good breakfast. You have to ask for what you want. There was no menu when we were there. It's a quiet location.

Very cute little houses, and very very friendly staff. Location is a bit out of town so you’ll need a car to get there. The rooms itself are a bit outdated and could use some upgrading, but all in all it’s fine for a short stay. Lots of birds to spot!

Mold smell

Stayed for the night and it was off road. It was good for just the night but the cabin I stayed in had a mold smell. The stay was ok and the owner/receptionist was expectational. She stayed many hours late at night waiting for us to arrive. Overall, apart from the smell, it was a good experience.

The rooms are nothing real fancy .Since it was rainy season when we were there everything felt damp. Things like no AC , not real good lighting , the door is terribly hard to open and close, there are other rooms all around so its not like there is much privacy on the porch. Its rustic but that adds to the novelty ! The view is nothing real great from the rooms but you dont have to go far to get wonderful views!

An awesome place if you like nature and if you want a place that got lots of good hiking close by! The setting is beautiful Right at the foot of the Cara Iguana mountain and only a couple kilometers from India Dormida Mountain . Its close enough to the town you can walk there. The staff was great, very friendly and make you feel at home, and they knew how to cook ! We really enjoyed the three days we spent here.

This is a crowded little place, with lots of cabins and a Restuarant packed into a small space. So there is no place to hang out and relax. It is located well out of town, so I expected it to have outdoor spaces to relax in.

Our hosts were great - and went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. And the restaurant was great.

The location is a bit of a walk (20-30 mins, if I remember correctly) from the centre of town, which means that it's very peaceful, but I guess not ideal if you want to go back and forth frequently. But there are always taxis, or bicycles to rent.

We really enjoyed our stay with Naudi and her family - it was one of our favourites in Panama. They are very warm, welcoming hosts, and shared a lot of interesting information and tips with us. Their homecooked meals were also great. The hotel is set a bit away from the town, so it's good for the start of some hikes, and there are nice views and nature (including fireflies!). It's a very quiet, peaceful place, and our room had a hammock (most, if not all rooms do, I think), which was a really nice touch for post-hike lazy afternoons.

After rainfall the last 800m to the refugio on the unpaved bumpy road was quite challenging by car. An extra mirror with some good lighting would be nice.

The old mattresses that I had (make sure that you ask for a cabin with new mattresses), the location to walk to town (taxi can be 3 USD to get all the way here), the family TV sound (make sure to get a room away from the TV, in case this bothers you). The shower was not the best, it was okay (water pressure was the inconvenience, but not an issue, it met its purpose).

The view, the ramps to access a few cabins, the customer service, the wonderful and effective communication via whatsapp, they are very nice and caring for the client. The WiFi (I was very concerned about this one because I read the reviews, but it worked great!). In Panama customer service is not the best, this place does a wonderful job with customer service.

We arrived during Santa semana so the prices were very high. Even keeping this in mind we felt that $90 a night was unreasonable for the room we got. It didn't have a patio as advertised and felt dusty as if only put into use as the rest of the lodge was full. The shower had cobwebs on the wires coming out of the top of the shower head.

The family running this place are lovely and the surrounding views are incredible.

While we were comfortable enough, the room was a little run down (some of the lights didn't work and water pressure was low). A few small improvements could help out with the comfort of the place.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. We are avid birders, and when we let them know we needed to be up early, they gave us a coffee maker so we could get moving at dawn! The location is excellent if you are a birder or hiker because you can start on the Refugio Cariguana trail directly from your room at dawn. The first stretch of the road from the hotel has excellent birding, and at dawn it was really hopping! At dusk, a tropical screech owl was calling, Lesson's and whooping motmots came to dust-bathe on the road (often many at once), and we watched a gray-cowled wood-rail scurry across the road. We had a very nice time here!
