Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesPool needs an update
We stayed in a house up on the hill. It was plenty of space for our group and had a great view of the property and the water in the distance. In addition to the sloth lounging in the tree behind the house. Amazing! The house needs a little freshening up as well as the pool, but we were happy overall. The property is unique and different from what we have experienced in the past. We had a golf cart for our stay but also enjoyed walking up the big hill to our unit. We tried the restaurant one night=--I thought the food was delicious. No, it is not like an all-inclusive resort restaurant and bar area. It is quiet but nice. The ocean is rough down in that area as well. I suggest getting groceries in Bocas as the small grocery on the property was limited but was still nice to have for essentials. It was easy to get water taxi boats and get around. One of our best meals was on the other side of the island at the Firefly Inn. Worth a trip to see the town and local living on that side of the island-however that was our most expensive water taxi ride. It was $10.00 per person round trip. We had 8 people so quite expensive for a trip over to that area-that wasn't far away. Monkeys are around in the morning running around the neighborhoods. Staff was great--especially Enrique who drives the golf cart and picks you up when you need a ride!

United StatesKitchen could have been better stocked, no baking dishes, pan sheets or even kitchen towels provided. Did call and request them, but never came.
Beautiful location, staff were exceptional. Used golf cart to get around and staff were knowledgable about wildlife and would take us to see them. Beach feels like your own private oasis.

United StatesThey were low on staff/personnel- moving around the property is a pain if you don’t have your own golf cart and it was impossible to score a golf cart during the time we were there. Housecleaning was very slow.

AustriaThe biggest minus is definitely the beach club. A big reason for us staying there was the fact that they have their own beach club with sun beds and umbrellas, however the sun beds were in such bad shape I would be ashamed of it if I was the owner or manager. The sand is more comfortable than those work through beds. It’s so cheap to replace them and get some comfortable new ones. Also the menu lacks vegetarian options, which is why we never ate there. We had iced coffee once, however it was really not good. And for the original price of the villa some things could be improved a little bit. The pots and pans were very old, only one cutting board, no proper curtains in the bed rooms. Also water dispensers would be a good idea. The tanks wouldn’t have to be for free, but it would save on plastic bottles and no need to carry heavy water bottles. But these are no deal breakers.
We spent 6 lovely nights at Red Frog Beach Resort and thoroughly enjoyed it! We were lucky enough to be upgraded from a lodge to a villa, because of construction work, thank you so much for that. It was very spacious and had an amazing view. Bastimentos is a gorgeous island with beautiful nature and beaches. We saw monkeys, sloths, iguanas, the tiny red frogs and lots of birds (including parrots!). The jungle is incredible, huge trees and various plants. The staff was very friendly and their included transport with golf cart worked very well. It’s a very big resort, so it’s great to have that option. They have a little shop at the reception, which we found very useful. The massage at their spa was also very good. Our freezer was stacked with ice which is a great detail in my opinion. The kitchen was also equipped with dish soap etc, and also laundry detergent for the washing machine. If you want to enjoy Bocas Town nightlife daily it might not be ideal for you, as boat rides at night get expensive. We were there for nature and quietness and usually had dinner at the beautiful villa. For lunch we had nice food at the beach at Palmar and Nachyo Momma or during a trip.

United StatesThe only think that could be improved were the food options. The Beach Club didn’t have a lot of variety for vegetarians and the breakfast was okay. We ate at the Palmar lodge for most of our meals, the food was amazing and had lots of options for vegetarians. Such a cool vibe.
Beautiful grounds, saw sloths, monkeys and lots of red frogs. The property is huge and spread out, could get a ride to other locations as needed but enjoyed being able to walk around the property on the trails and along the beach. the private pool at our villa was amazing. the beaches were beautiful. hiked to Polo Beach one day. Did a snorkel trip one day. The staff were so nice and easy to communicate with, could do it all via What’s app. Had a little grocery store near reception which was reasonably priced to get snacks.

CanadaKeep in mind this property is huge and it isn’t easy to get around just by walking. apparently you can rent golf carts but we were not told that and they were all rented out when we got there. Thankfully the staff will shuttle you around when you need to go anywhere but it would be easier to just have your own cart and go when you need to. There aren’t a lot of food options nearby. The restaurant on-site is just ok. we ate there one night. the restaurant at the property next door is very good. Palmar beach lodge. otherwise to go into Bocas town or another restaurant you have to take a water taxi which is expensive. they charge $10 per person one way so it cost us $80 to go for dinner for a 15 min ride. I never figured out how the water taxis worked because any time the property arranged it, it was expensive. but I know from Bocas town they are inexpensive. the shower handle in the master bathroom was loose and came off. a few things in the Villa could use some repair.
The staff here were amazing. Friendly and helpful. Our kids wanted to see sloths and one of the maintenance workers for the property walked with them for an hour showing them where he knew the sloths lived without us even asking. The property is beautiful. Right in the middle of the rainforest. we had a 3 bedroom Villa and the view from the Villa was gorgeous. Lush and green, flowers with a view of the sea. The Villa was huge. Each bedroom was large and the kitchen was well stocked. It had a huge terrace outside that overlooked the rainforest. And it’s own private pool. Red frog beach is right on the property and is a beautiful beach.

United StatesThere were "processing fees" for every item that we charged to the villa and for every transaction which we were not aware of prior and at the end when it came to settling the bill, added up to quite a large amount. Also, the on-site restaurants need better menus with dietary preferences in mind.
The staff, the location, the villa itself, the energy. Our villa's view was unmatched!

United StatesThe only negative I can find is the grocery store - it is SO expensive and there aren’t any other options - but it’s on an island so what can you do? There aren’t a ton of places to eat so be prepared to eat the same things a lot or take a boat ride into town (about 12 minutes and $8/person). We ate at the neighboring property - El Palmar - a lot because they had more vegetarian options.
Red Frog is a beautiful place - from the rooms to the beach - and even surrounding jungle. I didn’t want to leave. Our jungle lodge was so incredibly spacious - really more space than we could have ever needed for our little family of 3 - but we enjoyed every inch of it. Beds were comfortable, outdoor showers were perfection, and everything was clean and cozy.
