How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis was the perfect way to end our vacation in Panama! Only minutes to the David airport and even better our host provided complimentary transportation for us. Our host, Pasquale was very hospitable and what an amazing breakfast in the morning only to find out he was a chef with so many stories! We love staying at places where the host actually engages in conversation and we're not just renting a room. It's all about the experience when we travel. Staying in Panama for 1 month, we will share this was one of our nicest experiences. We love hearing people's stories of why they decided to settle where they do. We are very community service oriented and were so impressed that Pasquale opened up his swimming pool a couple hours a week for the school kids to take swimming lessons. We loved watching them have fun and they were all so polite. Being a health coach and providing healthy cooking classes for my clients, we are looking forward to getting some of Pasquale's recipes! Thank you thank you for this nice experience! We do hope to return someday
Everything was perfect! Even the recommended Italian restaurant which was one of the best meals we had in Panama!

Verified reviewWe travel by motorcycle and we could easily find the place. It's just outside the centre of David. It feels remote but you're actually very nearby the main road. We used Uber taxis to go to the supermarkets/restaurants. The hotel is outstanding. We had a room near the pool. Our room was lovely, nicely decorated and the AC was really nice. There is a big fridge in de common lounge, which you could also get some drinks from. Which was really nice after a long, hot, day of riding! Breakfast was very good. Pascal and his wife are really friendly and helpful and we had some nice conversation! Their dogs are so friendly as well and I loved to pet them. The hotel is very quiet and we enjoyed sitting outside and listening and watching all the birds, squirrels, iguanas, lizards etc. Would definitely recommend to stay of you're going to David!

Tricky to find. Google maps did not do a good job with that. It’s tucked away in an unexpected residential area but lovely once you get there.

Verified reviewThe host Pascal was very helpful and cooked us a nice breakfast. He was a good conversationalist and also sensed when to allow privacy. The pool was very enjoyable as well as the bird and butterfly viewing.
You need a car or taxis to get to most things. We had dinner delivered, which Pascal helped arrange since we were tired when we arrived.

Verified reviewPascal is friendly and a good conversationalist. We enjoyed the location which is in a neighborhood next to the river but only 1 mile from the city center. Lots of birds nearby. The pool is lovely, the rooms are large and well appointed. The shower is lovely!
You drive through a neighborhood that appears a little sketchy on the way to his place but it's safe, quiet and a lovely retreat!

Verified reviewDelicious breakfast, lovely small boutique hotel. Spoke several times with the owners who gave me lots of advice about David. Gated parking for company vehicle. Air conditioner works great and the water pressure is excellent. Wonderful made-to-order breakfast with fresh fruit and abundant coffee every morning. Hummingbird feeders and old mature trees in the garden meant breakfast was also full of beautiful birds. I love this hotel.

Verified reviewThis was a very nice property, and the host was very helpful and pleasant. The large bed and pillows were very comfy, and the host arranged for a small fridge to be put in our room; which was really useful for us.
However, there was no tea or coffee making facilities. We had the Darien room which was the furthest room from the pool area, so it was probably the quietest one in the building. It also had pleasant views of the gardens. This was important because every day we were there, for four nights, the host rented out the whole pool and communal living area to members of the public for parties with up to 40 people, including children, with very loud music. The noise started in the morning, and sometimes didn’t end till 5 or 6pm. We chose this property as a transit stop on our long trip because it was away from the busy and noisy part of town, and it had lovely gardens and a wonderful pool area where we planned to just relax in the sun and read books. This was impossible. The noise from the party-goers was intolerable and all the seats were taken. I have attached photos; (which I have never had to do before). We expected to share the pool with a few other guests from this small complex, but not with 40 other people who were there specifically to party. Whatever time we had there had to be spent in our room. Although the room was fairly quiet, we could still hear the party noise from the pool area from around mid-morning. There were also a lot of dogs on the property, and between them and the dogs next door, they made a lot of noise early in the morning and late at night. It was not at all relaxing.
Dear Guests. We are very sorry to hear your stay in our hotel was not what you expected. Our approach in the segment is what made us successful, but can be not of everyone’s taste. David lacking good infrastructure, we do accept birthdays parties on the premises, from midday to 6pm . As you correctly mentioned, thank you for your honesty, we proudly offer a high standard in our rooms, but the difference compared to an impersonal chain hotel, is the interconnection with our guests, the local population, nature and our dogs. Our dogs being part of the “Patampa Touch” is well known and present in many of the comments. Regarding the facilities, such as kettle for hot water… we gladly provide it upon request, as we did for the fridge. Any guests who do not feel well and comfortable in our hotel should feel free to mention it, and we always try to do what’s best for them. The few times it has happened, the guests were able to shorten their stay a no charge, regardless of their reservation. Finally, and sadly, I saw the poor note you gave us in cleaning, and I would really appreciate if you could send me a short email explaining it, as we are rather praised for it. Thank you in advance . Hoping this did not affect your view on this nice country. Best regards. Pascal

Verified reviewThis turned out to be a great layover for morning drive to Boquete to go birding for a week. What I did not expect was the excellent birding I discovered right in the simi rural setting the next morning. I saw about 45 birds right in the neighborhood. The owner/host was friendly and very helpful. Very nice place to stay!

Verified reviewVery friendly owner and staff. Great conversations each morning in the breakfast area. The morning breakfast is offered at a bargain price. Well appointed room and quiet, secluded, secure grounds.
There is a central mini refrigerator offering drinks at a fair price. A small refrigerator in each room would better allow for keeping food fresh and saving leftovers. PedidosYa delivers to the hotel, which is great. A mini refrigerator would have allowed us to order food every other day instead of daily.

Verified reviewI loved talking with the owner, who met me and showed me directly to my room. Each room is a homage to a different province in Panamà. She was super helpful also with helping me find local artisans to buy gifts from. Finally, the garden over the pool and the surrounding neighborhood along the river are beautiful and full of birds to observe. Overall, a very comfortable stay.
This is more of a note for other travelers than a complaint. This is a small operation, so I couldn’t find anybody to help me around 9:30pm once everyone was asleep. I ended up borrowing some blankets from a linen closet I found in the lobby (Sorry!) so just make sure you are completely settled during the day.

Verified reviewLush green oasis in an otherwise unattractive city. Off the beaten track but it felt safe and secure.
Arrival was a bit disconcerting. There seemed to be nobody around, and then a young guy eventually appeared and let us in but he appeared to have no idea we were expected. The place was being run by him and his girlfriend, and there was no bar or restaurant (as advertised) so we were obliged to order a take-out meal that was almost inedible.
