How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWow! Hospitality (and construction) is Ricardo's game and he is at the top of it! You'll be hard pressed to find a more accommodating or helpful host. He gave us a lovely upgrade to the Oceanview bungalow with a full kitchen which came in handy for our couple of night stay. He was great communicating with us when we took a diversion pre-arrival, and then went over and above to make us so comfortable when we arrived and even set us up to watch the biiiiig Hockey Game :-p with a big tv at the bar area. He's a wealth of knowledge and he and his wife Ingun, were so lovely and helpful during our stay and gave us fab restaurant recommendations. We ate at their fave places and loved them. Thanks so much! The property is private with a big pool and was easy to find - in a peaceful spot with fab ocean views of the surfer point and that sunset - gorgeous! The king bed was really comfy too with nice linens. Enjoy your stay - We did!

To our future guests F Y I - 2025 update - I send a comprehensive email when you make your reservation. I expand on these mayor points: 1- Catalina remains the far off wilderness. Is very far away. Services are very rustic and basic. It is not South Beach or Cancun. It is a "Rugged Destination" for adventure travel. 2- All mayor roads in Panama are under construction or repair. All side roads are dirt roads. We recommend a 4x4 or just drive slow as all cars can make it. 3- Directly in front of the main wave, we have the best property and the best location. A full acre of tropical Bliss. A private and oceanfront compound within a small forest at the literal ends of the road. Brand New Santorini Style Bungalows are the Best accommodations in Panama's Pacific Coast. Hotels are full. We have a quiet and private place for guest only. I am a retired, US educated, Panamanian businessman. I grew up in the 70's. Charging the big surf here since 1975. During my 20 years living abroad I was always dreaming of coming to Catalina. Is so beautiful. The raw natural beauty of this area is legendary... As surfers we are only looking for peace and good vibrations. We are transparent. We don't Kow Tow to the algorithm and difficult people are not welcome. As one of the original pioneers I have lots of info and recommendations. We send an email once you make your reservation to help you decide where to stay and so you can have a 100% clear understanding, avoid unreal expectations, make your plans and have a good and safe trip.

Verified reviewThe bungalow was absolutely beautiful inside and the views from the deck were magnificent! Even better than in the pictures. It was so lovely to sit on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee. The sunsets right from the deck or pool area were just gorgeous. The space was incredibly comfortable and well equipped with everything our family of 4 could need. The kitchen was great to cook in. The kids loved playing in the pool, especially when it was lit up at night. Ricardo is an amazing host and extremely attentive to any needs. He also offered great advice on local activities. Santa Cantalina itself was a breath of fresh air and a great little hidden gem. A nice surf town with a laid back vibe that still feels very undiscovered by the masses. We enjoyed the beach and the snorkelling at Coiba was amazing. I would not hesitate to book this place! It far exceeded my expectations.. we did not want to leave!
The wifi wasn’t always the best. But who needs it! The road in is a bit rough, but it’s short.

Verified reviewIncredible location. Throwing back the curtains each morning, the surfers (often including Ricardo - the owner) were out in the waves off the point. What a view for breakfast! Bungalow was beautiful and well looked after. Ricardo and his wife could not have been nicer or more helpful- they made our stay truly memorable (including the fabulous margaritas!), and left us more knowledgeable about Panama and with many stories to tell.

Kitchen equipped with the important things. In the event of a power outage, it is a bit difficult to use an electric stove. Luckily there are various restaurants in town. A car is helpful.

Verified reviewWhat an amazing place! Can’t say enough good things about the property. The owner was very accommodating, the property was beautiful and clean and we could lay in our bed and see the ocean waves crashing down during this super moon high tide! Surfers were out there in large numbers having a blast. We had a long drive on the day we arrived and our host made us the best frozen margaritas that we have ever had! The town is small and friendly which was perfect. This property has an awesome pool that we had to ourselves every evening. If your looking for a clean, comfortable, romantic getaway… this place is it! Best place we went to in Panama!
Pictures on the website don’t show how beautiful the rooms and property are. Pics don’t do the property justice. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there!

Verified reviewEverything.. we were only planning on staying for 7 days. Less then an hour being here we changed our plans for the rest of our stay in Panama and stayed here for 11 day. We travel many times per year around the world and I admit this location, property, staff and amenities are 10 / 10 exceptional. The staff upgraded us to a complete house. It was aprox 400 sq/ft equipped fully with full kitchen, king size bed, air conditioning and patio overlooking the ocean. Largest houses in the area and very clean. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
To be honest, there were no negatives. Truly paradise and everything you could possibly ask for in a tropical vacation. 33 Degree weather every single day. Pool on site was clean and warm. There is nothing you can say about this location that could be negative.

Our Imperial Suites and Bungalows are the largest oceanfront accommodations in the entire country. The property has a full acre of land and only 5 units. Private and secluded it is tropical bliss. I am one of the original pioneers traveling to Catalina since 1975. I spend my time in the water and enjoying life. We don't get involved in arguments or kowtow to algorithms. Thus this standard replies to a review-crazed world. Club Rules are mandatory for all guests inside our property. Catalina is the Far Off Wilderness. It is the land of true adventure
