How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe view is amazing. The owner showed us around, he invited us for a coffee and we had a great conversation in the morning. I would go again, lovely family business and I wish them all the best.
It is quite hard to get to the place, the owner told us that they are improving but until then don't try to go up with normal car, he will come to pick you up if needed. I went with a 4x4 car and raining, and I managed to go up. Anyway. The place is great.

Verified reviewIt was one of the few Hostals near Almirante so we could drive to Panama in one day. Owner drove us up the steep hill twice. Very kind
It would be even better if the road up could be done without 4x4

Verified reviewThe hosts were super nice. They were super available for anything, such as driving us up there in their pickup van, when we said we didn't had food for dinner, she offered to cook us a meal for a reasonable price. Everything we needed, they were there to help. Also they were considerate to guarantee we could get a "colectivo" bus when we left (it was easter friday and we were not certain they were running). Really cool place.
We didn't had wifi in our apartment. However they offered wifi that worked close to the main house of the property.

Verified reviewPerfect for our needs! We were looking for a one night stay near Almirante to be able to do the Oreba chocolate tour in the morning and take a water taxi to Bocas. The road to the house is not suitable for regular cars but we were picked up by the main road and driven to the house so we didn't have to climb the hill. Patricia, a woman living at the property, cooked a fabulous chicken dinner for us for $10 per person (home made lemonade included). We met her young son, dogs and chickens. All in all, it was a very pleasurable night.

Verified reviewThe owner was very friendly, the view from the spot was perfect and it had everything we needed. It was kind of unique experience to be there. Great for stopping by before going to the ferry to Bocas del Toro.
The WiFi didn't worked really well and the drive way is bad (but the owner will give you a ride up to the hill :)).

Verified reviewThe property was very clean! It’s a great place to stop if you are catching the Ferry in Almirante. The property owner is very nice and has great communication to make sure you can find the location and you have what you need. Excellent value and can’t beat a warm shower after a long day of traveling.
In order to access the house, a 4x4 is imperative. Try and arrive during daylight as even for am experienced driver that uses 4x4 often, it’s a challenging location. Obviously not controllable but it had rained right before our arrival making the drive even more tricky.
Thanks again we are on the way to improve the road access you are very welcome any time 👍

Verified reviewAmazing owner and a great and beautiful place to stay for example before leaving to bocas. About 15 till 20 minutes from the ferry. The view and the apartment was really nice and everything was there what you need.
Small really small thing was the falling mangos from the tree on the roof. The way up you need a 4x4 but otherwise the owner (Jorge) will pick you up at the way up.

The patio should have more equipment for seating and dining, no chairs and no table. Also a bit more cleaning from the spider webs :)

Verified reviewThe location is just fantastic (THE VIEW!) and Jorge and his family are the perfect hosts who go out of their way to make you feel at home. We really enjoyed our stay there, it is such a relaxing place. The cabin had everything we needed for our stay and Pati was kind enough to prepare a very delicious dinner for us one night. Jorge was a great help with booking our onward bus and even dropped us off for the very early morning departure (THANKS!). I wish we could have stayed longer!
Nothing comes to mind. For us everything was perfect.

Verified reviewGreat accommodation, great apartment, owner a nice guy. A bit more difficult to access for 4WD only. Absolutely great is the seating area in front of the apartment (if you have a table and chairs there).
When we arrived we had nowhere to sit, even in the apartment we had to stand while eating, we had no table or one chair. It wasn't until we borrowed a table and bench and chairs from our neighbors that the stay was great. The Wifi connection was a bit problematic, but the owner warned us about it.
I apologize for your inconvenience you are right I will work on it soon as possible
