How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOwners are awesome people, friendly and attentive. Location is perfect for scuba/snorkel excursions (1 minute to walk to the dive shops). Restaurant has fantastic food.
The shower only had extremely hot water or cold/room temperature water and the bed is two twin mattresses pushed together. Neither of these things stopped me from enjoying my time here, or wanting to come back, but I mention them just so others can set their expectations accordingly.

Verified reviewThe staff is amazing ! Chris and Juan run a tight ship and the restaurant is incredible. The daily menu and food preparation isn't something that you would expect at an "end of the road" beach town. Exquisite flavors and presentation, fresh seafood done RIGHT ! Really enjoyed interacting with both of these interesting people.
Woulda loved a cup of coffee in the morning.... :)

Verified reviewThe hosts José and Christine were wonderful, the room was a generous size, and the food was superb: José is a master in the kitchen. The A/C is modern and efficient, and having the restaurant downstairs is very convenient. Breakfast and dinner were excellent (the grouper!!). Close to a hostel a few houses down the street (towards the beach) where you can rent kayaks for a nice trip to Santa Catalina island.
I wish I could give an all 10+ rating: the hosts are so accommodating, but: I simply didn't sleep well. There's a dog and a rooster next door, and I really wanted to order them for breakfast the next morning. I got about 4 hours of sleep. The second night was a little better (ear plugs). I could only get the hot water to work once: either it takes a long time to reach the room, or it is off occasionally. This didn't bother me enough to complain or investigate.

Verified reviewOverall, I am very happy with this hotel and chose to stay there again for my second trip to Santa Catalina. Both rooms were a good size and clean, the bed was big and comfortable, the staff are very friendly/ helpful. There's a deck / common area which is nice to sit and relax. The food in the restaurant is excellent and probably the best in Santa Catalina.
Nothing keeping me from coming back again! However, the cord to change the speed of the fan is very hard to reach (in both rooms) - a string/extension would be nice. The room which looks out over the deck area has a glass door, so the light from the deck lights up the room at night - a curtain over the door would really help. Warm water only lasted a few seconds (but I take quick showers and turn on/off water to conserve it, so maybe I didn't run it long enough). This is not a big deal at all in Santa Catalina - tap water doesn't get too cold anyway and you'll be hot and sweaty to start with!

Not much parking but it isn’t the hotel’s fault.

Verified reviewIt was a hotel that felt like a family home. The restaurant is very popular and Juan is a great chef. I just felt at home. The big porch invites conversation between guests. Christina is very kind and runs a tight ship. I liked it so much, I’m returning next month with my whole family.

Verified reviewThe owner was very helpful with tours and services. She is very kind. Location was very centralized.
There is a lot of noise at night. If you plan to sleep before 9pm - forget about it. The kitchen is noisy and there is loud music coming from the bar a block away. Not to mention the dogs and roosters going off at all hours. Ear plugs don’t work. I had to take medication to fall asleep. The kitchen will be quiet around 10:15 pm. The food is only okay, if you are a foodie the reviews are deceiving. There are other options in the town. The kitchen does not operate Wednesday nights. The town loses power often. The Owner only put on the generator for an hour- meanwhile other hotels/restaurants were running. It was very hot in the room and we were worried about our phones dying due to low battery. In my opinion the rating is an 7ish/10 mostly due to the noise, instead of the 9 it was when we originally booked. I would not stay here again.

Verified reviewThis hotel is a gem! It is cosy and comfortable and it has a very nice bar and restaurant area. The restaurant has the best food we have had in Santa Catalina. We ate there twice, and it was amazing both times. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. They can organise Coiba trips for you and get your laundry done. They speak both English, French and Spanish. The place was clean, had a nice terrace outside the rooms and good wifi. Highly recommend it!

Verified reviewThe two owners Chris and Juan are incredible. They helped schedule all of our various activities for us, as well as our shuttle back to Panama City. They served us each morning before our outings and all the food and cocktails we got from the restaurant were excellent. Consistently some of the best food and drinks we had in Panama.
