Reviews of Hostal La Casa de Juan

Inhad a good stay and could go one a very epic, but rainy hike nearby. The staff was friendly, they have coffee in the morning and a good kitchen. The spot feels a bit hidden and calm, what i liked. Another bonus is that we could use the bikes to get around, that where not having a lock, whoch made me a bit hesitant of taking it.

Very good price

Not too clean and not too comfortable, but for this price it was good.

The atmosphere was like being surrounded by family, the host made you feel at home.

Everything was fine for me.

Location was good; near supermarket and near la india dormida hike.

Many bugs in the bathroom and room did not feel very clean. Also the owners weren’t very talkative.

Great stay

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The free coffee in the morning was a nice surprise. They have activities, organize trekking groups ( pay and based on donations)

The 15 beds room. The beds were on 3 levels, not comfortable at all to climb until the 3rd bed...the bed sheets had stains and holes, made me feel uncomfortable. The place is old, hippie style. Good I spent 1 night, I was forced since the other hostel canceled my reservation. For the price you pay it is ok...but things can be improved (hygiene and quality of dorms).

Dorms are absolutely packed, no place to leave your bag, not enough lockers for everyone. You can charge your stuff in the dorm. And only 1 shower/toilet for 15 people. There’s one more bathroom behind the kitchen, but that’s also used by all the other guests including the guests who are camping.

There’s a lot of activities organized every day, most people that work are very friendly and help with questions.

For the price it was okay, but I suppose some renovation in the kitchen can be made, it looks unclean.

Had a really amazing stay here. Initially booked for Bodhi which wasn’t the vibe, switched to here and had an unforgettable time. WiFi was fine for work, had hiked planned every day, staff were really great. They took professional quality photos on the hikes. I think about my time here warmly!

Bathroom was moldy but worth it

The overall environment is superb with many people (back packers) from everywhere. The staff are simply super - Always there to help The wifi works great. Plenty of space to cook in the kitchen Location at the beginning of town is also good Hammocks to use Loads of space to chill out Bathroom is clean Bed very comfortable

I had to move rooms because the dorm smelled terribly of damp in the walls and because you only get a ceiling fan it actually makes it worse. I told the reception I have asthma and he was more than happy to help me move to another dorm They'll need to provide a humidifier that should sort the problem out.

Nothing!

Terrible! stay away!! Small and dirty rooms, lots of noise. We woke up in the morning full of bites, there were bed bugs and when we told the manager he started yelling at us, said we were making things up and that we were welcome to leave. stay away!!

The staff was friendly and provided good information about the area. I felt very welcomed.

The dorm had 15 beds (bunkbed 3 beds high) in a too small space to store your stuff. Not enough lockers or very small. The ventilators don't do anything and make very annoying sound when you sleep and cut your head off when your in the highest bed. Just 1 toilet and 1 shower (same room) for 15 people. Also no curtains or electricity at the beds. Didn't feel clean either, just as the kitchen, smells bad. The receptionist really wasn't showing any hospitality as you would expect.

It wasn’t very clean at all, the common area could have done with tidying up a bit as well, the lock on our door didn’t work and the receptionist when we checked in wasn’t helpful at all. when we arrived to check in he let us know our room was ready but someone’s stuff was still in there and it hadn’t been cleaned and when we asked him about check in time and when it would be ready he didn’t seem to know, we asked about bus times and how to book shuttles to the next place and he didn’t seem to know anything about that either.

Awful service

They were overbooked and accomodated in a shared bedroom.
