Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaOur recent stay Santa Catalina's Hideway was fantastic. We were there for one week and there was lots to do at the hotel or around. A big shout out to their amazing team. Special thanks to Nic, Joel and Olga who were very resourceful and made sure everything was great for our vacay. The chef and kitchen team were very knowledgeable with our daughter's coeliac (no gluten) condition. She had lots of options to choose from. With no dougt, we highly recommend this little gem which is great for family, friends and for romantic getaways.

BelgiumAfter heavy rains there are a lot of sandflies and mosquitoes, resulting in many bites when dining at the outdoor restaurant. After rains some more protection may be appropriate.
Beautiful property located at the beach in Santa Catalina. Nice cottages for a family with all facilities. Good breakfast and dinner options. Staff helpful in planning tours or other activities. Place to really relax.

Staying at Catalina's Hideaway feels like you're being welcomed into a family. The staff and owners are all so friendly and really go out of their way to help you and ensure your stay is memorable. The facilities are wonderful, the gardens beautiful and the food delicious. Unlike some hotels, they can also prepare an early morning breakfast if you're going on a Coiba trip. The location is a little out of Santa Catalina and I'd recommend hiring a car, but this only adds to the charm. The owners have created something really special here.

Fantastic stay, Joel and Olga are gems. The warm welcome by Joel made the check in very nice. Helped us with some excursions. Knowledgeable and caring. When we had a very early excursion they made sure we got breakfast to go. Very thoughtful as I traveled with 2 boys that always want te eat. When we decided to stay longer in town after our excursion we got a what’sapp to see if we were alright. We had a fabulous diving experience with Camilo from panama Dive center. Towels and warm drinks were waiting for us on our return. Very caring. On the snorkel excursion with Ricardo, we saw Dolphins and whales. They did so their best to make it a memorable experience and it absolutely was fantastic. Our accommodations were wonderful, beautiful appartment with everything you need and more. Clean. The restaurant was very nice and the cocktails were an other highlight. Can’t say anything negative about our stay, only that i should have stayed more days.

We had a great time at Cathalina’s Hideaway! The accommodation is beautifully decorated and the pool was perfect for relaxing. The on-site restaurant served delicious food and had a lovely, comfortable setting. There was also plenty to keep the kids entertained, which made the stay even more enjoyable for the whole family. A really pleasant and relaxing place—we truly enjoyed it!

NetherlandsWe had a fantastic stay with absolutely no complaints! I do want to mention, however, that while the beach in front of the hotel isn't ideal for swimming most of the time, it's still a beautiful spot with breathtaking views—perfect for long walks, relaxing, or even enjoying a free "spa treatment" with the amazing natural mud. When the tide is high, you can go for a swim, and when it’s low, kids can enjoy fun activities like horse rides along the shore. There are also some incredible swimming beaches nearby, easily accessible by boat or car, so you’re not limited at all. That said, the hotel itself is so stunning, with such a peaceful, laid-back vibe, that you could easily skip the beach altogether and still have an amazing, relaxing experience. It's the perfect place to disconnect and unwind.
Everything about our stay was wonderful, but I especially want to commend the staff—particularly those at the restaurant—for their exceptional attentiveness, kindness, cheerful attitude and warmth. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were incredibly sweet to my daughters (ages 4 and 7), treating them with genuine care. It truly made our experience extra special.

CanadaWe rented a car so had access to the town of Santa Catalina. But parking in the town wasn’t the easiest and it was a 20-25 minute ride each way from hotel. And we went into town for dinner most days. (Los pibes restaurant was excellent for steak dinner.). More storage space in hotel room would be nice.
This really was like a paradise during our stay in Panama and a real treat. The bungalows are well appointed, nice design. Beds very comfy. Kids liked the « attic » bedroom. Private balcony and yard made it feel secluded. Outdoor shower was beautiful. Activities at the hotel were appreciated too. We loved the yoga with Dionne, in a peaceful setting overlooking the ocean. I paddle boarded one evening and it was quite nice. The mud during low tide was a unique experience with final results being spa-like. Pool is beautiful with nice music. Breakfast tasty. Stargazing at night on the stargazing trampoline was beautiful as there was little light pollution.

United KingdomCatalina’s Hideaway is simply magical. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had stepped into a little paradise. The setting is stunning, with beautiful design and thoughtful details that make the entire place feel special. Everything is set up so well—whether you want to relax, explore, or connect with others, it all flows perfectly. The staff is incredible; so welcoming, warm, friendly, and attentive! The food is outstanding, with different menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every meal was delicious, and we kept wanting to try more! The yoga deck is a dream, whether for the daily classes or your own training session (there are even some weights available). There’s also a beach volleyball court, a stargazing area, a gorgeous pool, and direct access to a beautiful beach for long walks. Plus, they offer massages, tours, and easy access to diving centres (about 20mins away) in Santa Catalina, which made it the perfect base for our PADI certification. We also had the pleasure of meeting Ryan and Anthea, whose story and passion for this place shine through in every detail. Their love for music adds a special touch to the atmosphere, making it even more unique. The vibe is social yet laid-back, like a boutique retreat with the warmth of a hostel, but for all types of travelers—singles, couples, families, and friends alike. Honestly, everything was perfect. Catalina’s Hideaway was one of the absolute highlights of our three-week adventure in Panama, and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

PanamaIf you are staying in Santa Catalina, this is probably the best option. We stayed at the "arbolita" room, which is a gorgeous, and confortable cabin surrounded by trees and with a view to a little lake. Breakfast is included, and with good healthy options. Also if you are leaving early for an excursion they give you a to-go breakfast to keep in your room the night before. The hotel is small and beautiful, with a nice pool. The restaurant is good and they also offer free yoga classes. Good WiFi everywhere.
