How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt was in a super safe neighbourhood and it was protected with a wire fence so I felt safe. The courtyard was goregous.
The breakfast was not enough even for a small girl like me. There were only two toilets and not really clean.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was good, but not as much as I usually eat in the morning. I used the refrigerator for guests and I had my own food, too, which is great. The public areas are comfortable. The location is central, easy to get to and quiet.
The kitchen is clean and available to guests, but the equipment for doing your own cooking is not great. Their parking is on-street; it's a good neighborhood, but there's some risk.

Verified reviewThe swimming pool was nice
The shared bathrooms were disgusting with mold and ceiling panels almost falling off. I left 2 days earlier to another hostel because of how unhygienic it was

Verified reviewIt's great value for money in Panama City. There are definitely nicer places to stay, but not for this money. We went here several times actually. The private rooms are spacious, but a bit weird too, it looks like it was a normal house before, so there are weird nooks and corners. It's all a bit weird and could use an upgrade, but the price is good. Not very close to anything super interesting, but Ubers are super cheap in PTY and you can walk to some restaurants of the see front.
Could use an upgrade. Especially the bathrooms are out dated and a bit weird because it looks like it was just a normal house before. Nice to have breakfast included, but don't expect too much from it.

Verified reviewThe yard was lovely. It gives you the impression that you are not in the cosmopolitan city center but a nice remote place. We didn't use the pool but it looked like it's clean. Also, despite the rooms looking a bit old and shabby, they looked clean. Our double room was big and there was an AC.
The facilities are a bit old and the kitchen didn't look so clean. It was hard to communicate because the staff didn't speak English. Maybe that's the reason they don't look very welcoming. There was one girl who was a bit more smiled. The breakfast was just OK-ish.

Verified reviewBeautiful, green, and big outside area with a refreshing pool. Nice and welcoming staff.
"Private small room" isn't exactly what I expected. It's a big room with different divisions, so not so much for privacy.

Verified reviewlocation is good, staff friendly
I booked a single room and it is not a room. It is one large room with partician wall between three single beds. Zero privacy. Not suitable for me at all.

Verified reviewThe outside area was nice and lots of seating
we had a private room which was basic (we weren’t expecting more) but the room smelt damp and when we used the air conditioning it began to leak a significant amount we meant we had to sleep with it off.

Verified reviewThe location is good, very nice staff. I stayed in a budget private room - it is very small with thin plywood walls, so it is a budget ) Hostel has hot water, so it is a plus.

Verified reviewThis hotel offers good value for the money. While the rooms are clean, they are a bit outdated and could benefit from some repairs, though this didn't detract from our overall experience. The breakfast provided was very simple, but sufficient for a quick start to the day. A decent option for budget-conscious travelers.

Verified reviewThe private room was spacious and clean. But there was no safe. The garden in the back was also nice, with good seating options and good wifi. The other guests were almost all from South America and very friendly and helpful. Much better than the staff.
The staff were very unhelpful, including Juan - who I only saw once, a woman whose name I can't remember, and Lili. Leidy on my last day was a little more friendy. Nobody every introduced themselves or called me by my name. Other reviews mention a breakfast with pancakes, fruit, etc. Something must have changed. The breakfast for my 3 days with 3 different cooks was 1 scrambled egg, white bread, and coffee. No salt or pepper or butter.

Verified reviewThe staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is good. Compared to the hostel just next door it is more quiet and less crowded.
The place appears tired and not well maintained. They don't even bother to put a sign with the right place name on the gate. It says "casa de los monstros", which is the previous name of the hostel. Arriving guests get confused on a daily basis. Guest are mostly middle age males. Not really a backpackers atmosphere. At the end you get what you pay for.

The bathroom was dirty and the smell was really bad. The room smelled also really weird and the floor and walls were also not clean. The hostel is in the middle of a busnisscentre, we had to take an Uber to go to the old town.
