The house and the location are very pretty, and the owner and the local maintainer are both responsive.

The biggest problem was the heat and that at night my wife and my daughter couldn’t sleep even with two fans, until it cooled down very late. They wouldn’t agree to spend another night at the house. Aside from that, we couldn’t use the stove top whenever someone was showering because of dripping from the shower floor to the kitchen ceiling, and my wife and kids couldn’t shut the water off in the shower because the valves are very hard to close. Overall the house is not in good shape. The top floor banister was falling apart just as Omar showed us around. Some of the mosquito nets are dislodged. The bed in the large bedroom is creaking at the slightest movement. A technician arrived at 7am in the morning and wanted to enter the house without notice to work on the a/c of another unit… (our unit didn’t have a/c). that wasn’t great.

The house was charming and in a good location to the the activities in the area.

No A/C. The house was uncomfortably hot which made it difficult to sleep.

The location was very good for enjoying wildlife, mainly bird photography from the back deck. It was generally quiet with the exception of the noise from a house in the neighbourhood that was being renovated. No fault of the host. Ceiling fans and portable fans helped circulate the evening cool air as there is no air conditioning. The beds were comfortable and rooms quite spacious.

The back deck is DANGEROUS. It is a 2nd story deck with a beautiful ambiance but the wood is rotten to the point that a railing fell apart when I leaned a camera on it. You have to be very careful where you walk for fear of going through rotten wood. Another guest who shared the deck from an adjacent unit had her foot go through the deck simply by walking between the joists. The host was pleasant but not very helpful when the whole community suffered a water main break for about 24 hours. He expected us to haul water from a nearby hotel to enable use of the toilets instead of initially having his caretaker who lives on the premises provide this. Eventually the caretaker provide drinking water and a 5 gallon bucket a few hours before water was restored. He did provide a 2/3 of a day refund to compensate for the inconvenience and apologized for not being more proactive. Most of the jealousy windows non-functional but stuck open so you can't keep the house cool by closing them in the day when the temperature shot up.

The house is a classic house from the 1930s. Staying there was like going back in time. The garden is lovely too.

    No complaints.
