We had an amazing family holiday at Bluff Beach Retreat! Augusto and Anita and all staff are doing an excellent job to care for their guests. We felt very welcome, received many helpful recommendations and enjoyed the extremely delicious breakfast. Our room was clean at all times and very spacious for us three. There are only very few mosquitos, we felt safe and the beach right at across the road (which was not busy) was beautiful. Unlike some other hotels around here, ours was always quiet with only nature sounds to hear which we enjoyed. No music all day long, no queuing at the pool and the other guests were very friendly and nice to talk to. Make sure to do some grocery shopping before coming to the hotel as there are no shops around. We wish we could have stayed longer and would love to come back one day to this paradise place.

Situated in a lush garden with a long pool. Very relaxed, nicely made and furnished. Plenty of space to hang out. Beach right in front of the property, you just need to cross the road (which is a euphemism as it is a dirt track full of potholes and puddles), there is very little traffic. Complimentary bikes. And plenty of fauna around. We could watch monkeys at breakfast and found plenty of sloths in the neighbourhood. Staff was very friendly and breakfast homemade and tasty. There are several restaurants in walking distance.

Not so much a didn’t like but a thing you need to be aware of: due to the road conditions it takes about half an hour from the town centre to get there and it will cost twenty dollars one way. So if you want to go exploring the entire island or more you are probably too remote. If you want to primarily chill and explore the immediate neighbourhood on foot or bike or even just hide away in a beautiful spot then it is perfect. Check the season as rainy season apparently comes with high surf.

Great location right on the long quiet beautiful beach & far enough away from the madding crowds. With plenty of things to do & all the lovely restaurants nearby this was a perfect place for us to stay and unwind after a stay in the city. Would definitely recommend this place to those seeking this type of holiday. Augusto was particularly helpful with his local knowledge of the birds & wildlife in the surrounding area and also extremely helpful when booking taxis etc. Thank You for making our stay so memorable.

We loved everything!

The Retreat is an amazing place on Isla Colon, if you prefer to stay out of town, enjoying the beauty of Bluff Beach. Our room was beautiful. The gardens are amazing, we have been spotting sloths, monkeys, lots of different species of hummingbird, toucan, and so much more. The breakfast was great and the staff always so helpful and welcoming. We went on a nature walk that Martin recommended to us with a resident biologist (Corinna) and we enjoyed it a lot! Else, we spent our days at the beach, in the garden, or at the pool - it was exactly what we have been looking for.

Only that we had to leave :-)

The Bluff Beach Retreat is an absolute paradise. We felt comfortable from the first minute. The beach, the jungle, the nature is breathtaking. Added to this is the warmth and helpfulness of the hosts. We will miss the breakfast, the beautiful room, the sounds of nature, the sloths and monkeys. It was very sad for us and our children to drive. We will definitely come back.

Everything is fantastic! What a great resort! Maybe a bit more expensive but every penny worth it!

The roads are very bad, so biking is not really comfortable

Far away from Downtown, just a 3 restaurants. Strong waves and wind, so the beach is just to hike and a quick jump in the narrow water.

Gorgeous location, lovely grounds and pool, wonderful staff and fabulous breakfast.

A paradise in jungle beach Bluff, the house is stunning, the pool is amazing, the beach is at 20 meters, wifi is 150mbps, the staff is adorable, yoga classes are great, breakfast is tasty!

Bumpy road for 30 minutes. And in the rain season the sea is very dangerous.

Beautiful property. Staff were warm and accommodating, treated us like family. Rooms are simple but clean. No A/C but didn’t need it surprisingly! Lulled to sleep with sounds of birds, monkeys and waves crashing 20 feet away.

It’s about 30min drive (very bumpy unpaved road) one way into town. No markets otherwise so if you need some bread or milk… you’re outta luck and will have to pay $15 each way to go into town. Also, bluff beach is not for swimming, very strong waves so we couldn’t enjoy the beach. The other side of the island has the calmer ocean but paying $50+ and having to ride for 1hour+ to get to boca del Drago on the other side didn’t seem worth it.
