How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewCute place with kitchen and green patio. Very welcoming and friendly staff. I probably should have chosen another room - with air-conditioning and own bathroom.
The small window from the room faced directly onto the common area and and when someone was talking there it was very audible. The room was very stuffy, the fan didn't help much, although it was quite fresh in other places. The bed creaked; there was no wardrobe in the room, only shelves under the bed - very dusty. Only one lamp on the ceiling, no night light on the nightstand - this can be changed for more comfort. The electric socket did not work - I had to stay a couple hours longer in the morning to charge my phone and powerbank (important for travellers!)

The bed sheet had too many holes that was impossible to count all of them, the floor of the room hadn’t been properly clean for a while

Verified reviewPrices were pretty good, however, make sure you are renting a room with air conditioning, as the cheaper ones don't have any and I did not see any upfront information about that, meaning I was upcharged since being in David without it is madness.
There is a kitchen for cooking meals, however, it is terribly equipped, pans are beyond any reasonable usability, there is no cutlery nor many other kitchen supplies. Also, there's no coffee maker I was able to cook some eggs but only after asking a local friend to bring her own stuff.

Verified reviewProperty was okay. Had all the basic things. No hot water
The property was okay. however my main complaint which really bothered me was the fact they had a very nice and cute dog. But he was neglected and abused. Chained up. Given no attention. I released him and the women pulled him by the neck put him outside alone the whole night with no food. Abuse 100%. If you have a dog you need to take care of him. I felt so sad as he was so cute and so friendly. In the morning he was crying for attention and to get out. So I let him out to run around. If your interested in selling or me adopting the dog please WhatsApp me on +447867866860. I won’t stay again due to this. Will return to see if I can adopt/ buy the dog. I encourage anyone who loves dogs to not stay here until they resolve how they treat animals. Because guaranteed it will make you sick. Contact me about the dog as you clearly don’t take care of him well.
Good evening. Chuby is healthy, and he eats everyday, as you saw him he looks good, not skinny. He has his personal green open space where he plays and stay when is not raining. and he has a small house there too, when it's raining he is inside the hostal with a chain unless someone is looking after him, because he can't be left by himself because he is naughty. You only stayed few hours and it seems you have figured everything, but many others guest can tell when they saw us feeding, playing, and giving rides to him around the hostal. Thank you for your concern but We love our pets, maybe your idea of having a dog is staying with him 24/7 and having him inside your home and sleeping with him on your bed, we understand it, but it doesn't mean that if we take care of him on a different way, that we are mistreating him. on another side, without any authorization, it was irresponsable from you to open the door of his green area, to let him go running around the whole area by himself because you left the hostal, he could has go out to the street and be killed by a car or by another dogs, you put his life on danger, so before of acusing others analize your actions. Chuby is not for sale, or adoption, he has his owner. Thank you.

Verified reviewThe rate, the place , the location was ok.
We couldn't get not even a cup of hot water to make tea the morning, so we checked out and went to Boquete.
Hello Good afternoon, what do you mean with that you could not get a cup of hot water? We have a kitchen avaliable and you could prepare stuff there, You only had to ask to the staff if you had any question about it. please let us know if there was any inconvenient that we never knew.

Verified reviewThe Good: - nice staff - very clean rooms & bathrooms - cute dog that loves cuddles - suitably aloof cat that tolerates a cuddle and lives in a basket on reception - available parking (though I don't think they close the gate at night, so not entirely secure)
The bad: Mostly "locals" stay here and if you have traveled in Central America, you know that respect for those who might like to sleep and trying to be quiet is not part of the culture. Slamming doors, telephone conversations on loudspeaker, loud music and watching memes (no one uses headphones!), talking loudly (no one ever whispers), running cars and slamming car doors. All that early in the morning and some late at night. The "quiet hours" of midnight to 5am are very telling (who only wants to sleep 5hrs a night?). The disrespect is very infuriating, if unintentional. If you are lucky, everyone leaves at the same time in the morning and you can doze off again afterwards. The rooms are small, furnished ok, with one towel rail, if no hooks. WiFi is ok if frustratingly slow: don't plan any online meetings. Communal kitchen: you can make do, it's sparse and in desperate need of a thorough deep-clean. In all, overpriced for what it is!

Verified reviewThe place is close to many amenities. It has nice vibes plus it is very pet friendly. You can cook there and eat out side or inside the room. View is nice. They have a very friendly dog. You can buy there some items so you do not have to go out if you do not want to or have them delivered.
The rooms seem to me a bit small for the price. Still not so bad though. The bathroom and entrance need some carpets or mats.

Verified reviewA room with no windows with no AC... Super hot. And pretty far from town.
Hello Angus. thank you for your review, You got the room you selected on booking, which has the description on it that says with fan and no window. if you wanted a room with AC you should ask for that when you did the check in, not after you left. the room with AC has a fee of 32 per 1 person. We are 15 minutes walking and 7 minutes by car from the center of the city. which is pretty close.
