How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewHotel is modern and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive. There was a small issue with the shower and it was immediately resolved. Beautiful setting around the hotel. Grounds were well maintained.
Although some people did go in the water from the hotel to surf, it defeinelty was not swimmable; however, we were able to walk up the road to a beautiful sandy beach great for swimming and surfing. The room could use more hooks - esp given wet bathing suits and towels.

Verified reviewThe landscaping work of this hotel is fantastic. The common area, garden, pool, bar and lounge room are so nice, well done and beautiful. It really makes you want to spend time in the common areas of the hotel. Also, the food in the Bambuda restaurant here is so delicious! We really wanted to eat there all the time, so well done and healthy options are available!
This is such a minor thing but they said we would have a welcome drink at 17 by the pool, so we went there. We saw how the staff gave all new guests the welcome drink except for us, so we felt a bit sad about this.

Verified reviewI stayed at Bambuda Lodge Santa Catalina in two different rooms, first a private house and then a room in the main building. Both were great, but what really stood out was the pool area with its magnificent view over the sea. I have visited several Bambuda locations and this one had the best food. The staff is incredibly friendly and can arrange anything you need, from Coiba tours to surf classes. The location is perfect, right between the two main beaches, making it easy to go back and forth. I ended up staying an extra day because I loved it so much. Highly recommend and a million thanks to the Bambuda Santa Catalina team for making my stay so memorable.

Verified reviewThe location is great, just 6 hours from Panama City, and it's worth the drive for the beautiful landscapes, right on the ocean. A 15-minute walk to the main beach, but with direct access to a small beach in front of the Hotel. It has one of the best chefs with an amazing trajectory, the food experience was excellent. If you get the opportunity to be served by Rodolfo in the Hotel Restaurant, you would be amazed. He was the best

Verified reviewBeautiful hotel with very nice rooms, all details were well thought through. Food was SOOO tasty, even if bit expensive. Family dinner was nice concept. Lots of tours arranged via the hostel.
Pool could use bit of maintenance, the paint was coming off. More a hotel than hostel vibe - for us as couple it was fine, not sure how the experience would be as solo traveler!

If you pay for the upgraded room, part of the facilities should be to have a TV, in Panama rains at least for 7 months a year, if you has nothing else to do in a rainning day, you might want to lay down and watch tv.

Verified reviewone of the best hotels I've ever been been to! the beds were super comfortable, it was very clean, staff was super friendly and the view is amazing !! Santa Catalina is als quiet place, so hanging out at the beautiful bambuda all day is the perfect thing to do.
one or two more spots in the shade at the pool/or in the grass would have been great - the comfortable chairs at the pool are mostly in the sun

Verified reviewIt has a nice vibe, nice view from the apartments and it has a super nice coworking space. It is ideal if you are looking for a place to enjoy Santa Catalina + Coiba but you have to work remotely as well. It is about 20 minutes walk to the main street in town, but it still has some options nearby or >10 min distance.
Our room was internally connected to a family suite aparently, and the noise was annoying. Also, on the first day of our stay the pool was super dirty. Not a deal breaker but it was not ideal either.
