How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe were absolutely blown away by the stunning location of Oman Desert Private Camp. Nestled deep in the dunes, it felt like stepping into another world - quiet, expansive, and breathtakingly beautiful. The small team running the camp made a big impression. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality created such a welcoming atmosphere. Nothing ever felt like too much to ask. Each day, we were offered a variety of activities that kept us engaged and curious, camel rides, dune bashing, sandboarding, stargazing, and loved the freedom to do as much or as little as we wanted. The food was delicious and full of authentic Omani flavour, and our tent had everything we needed for a comfortable and peaceful stay. What stays with us most are the nights, those magical, star-drenched skies and the deep stillness of the desert. We feel incredibly grateful for the experience. Truly unforgettable.
Everything was perfect. We might only suggest that the water they offered be delivered in larger bottles so as to minimise the number of small plastic bottles we used.

Verified reviewReasonably priced and offering great activities. Also really nice and friendly staff and tasty food!
I would recommend taking a tent with the AC in the summer, as the one without got really hot and it was hard to sleep.

Verified reviewThis place gave us most memorable and special experience!! The staff are super nice. Since it’s private camp, so only maybe 10 families live there, when we have meals together, travelers from different countries all like friends, so cool. I like the breakfast and dinner. We booked the most expensive rooms in this camp. They are exceptional.

Verified reviewOh my gosh, the property was AMAZING. The 360 glass units were so cool and having a view of the desert on every side was really neat. The bed was also so comfortable! The kitchen/common area tent was great to hang around as well, there was always water, tea, coffee, etc. Also SO much food for dinner and breakfast.
Nothing really!! I was blown away by the camp. As a solo female I felt super safe as well.

Verified reviewOur staying at the camp has been very pleasant, we enjoyed the place as well as the authentic atmosphere that people working there are able to create. An added value is given by smiling Fatima, who was extremely kind and welcoming and a real surprise when driving the dune buggy in the desert dunes!
Some of the services are a bit expensive, but given the location and the experience overall, it is understandable.

Verified reviewWe did not eat any food there as we have specific dietary requirements, nevertheless, we did see that there was a good spread for those dining there. There was ample water, juice snacks and fruits. The location was lovely. As we have a 2WD, finding their meeting point was super easy and then Fatima transported us to our camp. Hats off to Fatima for being so gentle and caring yet confident and experienced. She took us dune bashing and we felt absolutely safe with her. I took my 75 yo mother and she was also totally at easy with Fatima on the dunes. As a woman I felt very proud of having Fatima as our dune driver. I 100% recommend this property and also Fatima. Actually all staff were friendly and ready to offer any support. We stayed in a tent and our experience overall was fantastic.
There's just one thing that the property should improve. Although the bathroom was clean, the water on the floor did not drain away keeping the bathroom wet. I am not sure if this is with every tent and also I forgot to mention this to Fatima so I am not aware of the reason. This was too small an issue in comparison to everything else that was awesome there.

Verified reviewVery nice people, very nice rooms, well designed and comfortable.
It was a bit too expensive. The water was problematic in the evening for the jakuzi. It didn't really warm up. Also some dirt or leaves came out of the pipes to jakuzi. Everything ended somehow too early. The campfire ended around 9pm.

Verified reviewExceptionally friendly staff. Deeply committed to being accommodating. A nice range of activities. We did the camel ride, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We also recommend the three hour desert ride. The food is plentiful. And very tasty, but relatively basic. Dinner is a variety of barbecue meat. Breakfast is an omelette, bread and jams, and a typical Omani cheese and honey crêpe. Coffee, tea and cakes available all day. There is an additional charge for the food. We paid 8 OMR for dinner and breakfast, which is very reasonable. There are different types of accommodations ranging from tents to constructed Cabins. We stayed in a tent and this was perfectly fine. The best part about the accommodations is that you are not in a compound and the individual tents and cabins are separated. Sound carries in the desert. We saw a number of other camping sites where the accommodations were set up almost like row housing. We highly recommend.
