How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHamoods place is one of the most outstanding places I've ever been to. He invites you to relax on the terasse, drink tea, and enjoy the desert. During the trips, you learn a lot about the life there. He shares his experiences, culture, and his personality with you. The sunset and sunrise are stunning, and the food is exceptional. I loved the time there, and I am so grateful for it! Shukran gazilan Hamood!

Verified reviewHamood is a great host, super friendly and helpful. The camp is nice and small (only 6 tents) so not a lot of people. The food is great, everything is prepared on the spot, very fresh and tasty and many options to choose from. If you are looking for an authentic desert experience, then don't hesitate, book with Hamood!

Verified reviewI must admit that I chose Hamood Camp based on the reviews on booking.com and it was a perfect choice. Don't be fooled by the slightly lower prices offered by camps at the beginning of the desert. These places are terrible, located along a sandy road, separated by fences, with a view of a dune crushed by cars. Unlike them, Hamood camp is further away, among beautiful dunes, and the nearby camps are invisible, so you can enjoy the beautiful nature in isolation. As for contact with Hamood, it was trouble-free from the beginning. Much earlier, he sent me all the information about the meeting point, meal prices and attractions available during our stay. Everything was clear to me. Even though we were late for the meeting, he was waiting for us and led us through the desert to his camp. Along the way, with a smile, helping us and also unknown people to dig themselves out of the sand (despite 4x4, it's not an easy thing;) Since we were with 3 children, we spent time having fun in the largest sandbox we have ever seen in our lives😁 we didn't take part in any excursions. We were lucky because camels came to the camp, including 3 young ones. There is also a huge swing in the camp where you can go back to your childhood;) Hamood was very hospitable, he cared about our well-being in a gentle, non-intrusive way. He also showed us the best place for a beautiful sunset. Dinner was served in an Omani tent and was delicious, there were various types of meat, including local meat, rice, pancakes, hummus, salads, fruit, etc. After dinner, there was a bonfire, during which Hamood offered us cinnamon tea, told us about the stars and played the Omani guitar. The beds were very comfortable and there are plugs available in the tents. In the morning, a delicious breakfast awaited us: hard-boiled eggs, toast, scrambled eggs, pancakes, pasta, fruit.

Verified reviewHamood's hospitality is really great. He makes sure that everyone has what one needs. Tents are in a beautiful location, easy walk over the dunes to sea a sunset. Do not try to get there on your own just by maps, let him guide you through the dunes. Maps will take you close, but the most challenging route is still ahead. Both dinner and breakfast was great, with a great selection. Dinner maybe slightly more limiting for vegetarians. Fridays are generally very busy and slightly noisy, but you can see how locals are having fun during their weekend. The sunset camel ride was great and so was the morning discovery of the desert with Hamood. If there's more people in the camp, be patient and enjoy the surroundings until it's your turn to be taken care of. We stayed an extra night and we're happy we did. Saturday was much more quiet and one could really appreciate the solitude of the desert.

Verified reviewEverything! My tent was quite big and clean. I spent only 1 night so I was entitled to dinner and breakfast. Both meals were home cooked, and the dinner was delicious! There were at least 5 dishes served during dinner. I tried everything; chicken, fish (Spanish mackerel), lamb, salad, cooked vegetables, rice and bread. They also served fruits and desserts. I didn't try the desserts because I was full. The breakfast was also good! It was a healthy and hearty breakfast! Food aside, the highlight of the stay is the host named Hamood. Hamood has an amiable nature. He ate dinner and breakfast together with us, all the time asking and checking if we were okay. He made us feel at home. After dinner, we sat around the bonfire, watching the stars and planets. Hamood, a retired science teacher, happily pointed at the sky explaining the galaxy to us. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience for me. Thank you Hamood and his staff for making my stay memorable!
Nothing.

Food was great, vegetarian options and an endless amount of coffee, tea and dates! Breakfast was also really good, and the location was super nice, tucked away in the sand dunes! We sat around the fire in the evening and he even explained all the stars to us! شكرا!!

Verified reviewHamood is an amazing person with a great hospitality and service-oriented mindset. The camp’s location is incredibly calm and peaceful, making it the perfect getaway to unwind and relax. The entire place was spotless, and they’ve ensured a high level of privacy, making it ideal for both families and couples. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a serene desert experience!
the only thing that i didn't like is that the phone reception was a bit weak (Ooredoo) and there is no wifi service available, although you dont have to have wifi while experiancing the desert but it is crucial to have phone connectivity for communication matters.

Verified reviewThe Hamood camp gave us a wonderful experience. The tents were very spacious and elevated, with comfortable beds and a private bathroom just outside the tent. An excellent dinner in a very intimate atmosphere. The welcome on the terrace with coffee, tea, dates and fruit always available for guests and the evening around the fire watching the stars and listening to the stories of Hammod and his staff. Lots of extra activities for those interested. Highly recommended... Thank you Hamood!
The camp is 20 minutes from the town centre, so in the evening the lights of the town are visible in the distance (nothing to interfere with the possibility of seeing a beautiful starry sky!). However, it remains isolated compared to other camps and in an optimal position because it is located on the dunes and not in the valleys below.

Verified reviewWe had a one night stay at Hamood‘s desert camp and enjoyed it a lot. Very nice and polite host! It’s fun to drive into the camp yourself if you have a 4x4. On arrival at the meeting point, it’s possible to choose from different activities if you want to. Dune bashing, camel ride,…etc. I can highly recommend Hamood‘s camp.
Thank you, my dear friend. I wish you a happy trip
