Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDue to the time of year the Al Bandar hotel was shut a long with it's pool, restaurants and leisure. Restaurant food is average and on the expensive side, drinks are too expensive. Buffet at Samba was small compared to price, there was no ice cream available. Communication of whats on at restaurants and activities needs to be better. The Shangri La website is really poor, most hotels now have their own dedicated website/app that is kept up to date.
Staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. The life guards at the pool are very good at keeping everyone safe without being overly officious. Concierge booked an excursion for us, and they are very quick to get taxis sorted. The Taxis are very expensive, compared to other options, but this is not the hotel's fault. Breakfast buffet selection is good.

BahrainThat said, I wouldn’t recommend Al Waha for business travelers or groups of friends, it’s more lively, and very much geared toward family enjoyment. If you're traveling for work, or as couples or even solo, Al Husn is a better fit, quiet, elegant, and refined. For friends or group travel, even work trips, Al Bandar offers the right balance of activity and relaxation.
This was my first time staying at Al Waha, though I’ve previously stayed at Al Husn and Al Bandar, each offering a unique experience. I can confidently say that Al Waha is absolutely perfect for families, especially if you're traveling with children. The hotel is designed with kids in mind. From the slides, kid-friendly pools, and multiple play areas to organized children's activities and the lazy river, there’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained all day. It’s a stress-free environment for families, and the facilities are genuinely impressive. Al Waha delivers exactly what you'd expect for the price point, slightly on the expensive side, but well worth it for the value and experience, especially if you’re coming with kids. Highly recommend it for a fun, family-friendly getaway!

KuwaitOverall Impression: The resort feels old and outdated, lacking the vibrant, well-maintained atmosphere you'd expect. There are not enough activities within the resort to justify staying on-site as a full resort experience should offer. Pool & Kids Club: Pool Staff: Unfriendly and rough in their interaction. The experience was unpleasant. Kids Club Staff: Friendly but visibly tired and disengaged. They mostly sat down instead of interacting or organizing activities for the children. Water Slides: Water pressure was insufficient—my children had to crawl mid-slide to reach the pool. Splash Zone: Several splash poles were not working. The drain was dirty and half-clogged daily, which was both unsanitary and unappealing. Dining: Breakfast: The area felt cramped and the food variety was very limited, heavily focused on Indian cuisine. Room & Layout: Distance: The room was a 5-minute walk from the reception and breakfast area, which became inconvenient, especially with kids. Interconnecting Rooms: The doors opened into a narrow corridor, making it impractical to leave them open comfortably. Room Size: Rooms were relatively small for the price paid. Air Conditioning: One bedroom in the 2-bedroom villa never cooled properly, while the other was fine. The issue remained unresolved despite several complaints. Spa & Facilities: Spa: No male masseur available. Lack of Information: We were not informed about complimentary access to facilities like the spa, gym, mini-golf, or frankincense garden. We discovered them on our own too late to enjoy them. Turtle Hatching: There was no information or promotion about this experience—just a basic paper listing timings for open areas, with no explanation of events or resort highlights.
The resort had many restaurants to try, the Asian one was the best. The view and atmosphere was great. They had kids club, 2 swimming pools, a splash zone for kids and 2 slides. Staff were very welcoming and friendly Free spa entrance to sauna and steam and jacuzzi.

NetherlandsThere were travel tour packages with all you can drink (alcohol) at the kids swimming pool bar with some drunk people at 2pm. I was surprised to see that at a hotel pool for children in Oman.
Nice hotel with enough choice of food options, good room and entertainment sports for the kids.

Saudi ArabiaSmall comment. It was slow cheack in process when i arrived at 2 am. I was the only guest at that hour and normally guest arriving late hours would be so tired and just need to check in as fast as possible. So would be great if the check in keys and papers were prepared in advance for fadter check in.
