Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

ItalyNothing really it was all perfect.
The Camp position Is perfect far away from the roads on top of dune. The Camp is managed by a family with great attention to details and personal touch that large camps do not have at all. The central tent for coffee dinner and breakfast is super comfortable and invite you to sleep in the patio open air. Mr.Saud the founder and his son will help you through the activities ( dune bashing a must). You can easily drive by yourself to the Camp is well indicated but you need a 4wd and to deflate your tires. Las but not least dinner and breakfast are high quality and very abundant. Thank you again for you great hospitality.

We really loved this experience! It's only us who been in camp, so we felt special. We ordered shuttle service (it's expensive given the fact that distance is small), dune bashing - it was really cool!, camel sunset ride (I agree with all reviewers that price is high for such activity) but we really loved it! Dinner was exceptional! bad is comfy and nice! Salim was our driver and we enjoyed his company (his english can be better though)

United KingdomThe camp was small and quiet. The staff were attentive and the food was spiced beautifully. The sleeping tent was spacious and felt luxurious. We had good instructions on how to deal with tyres and find the camp and we didn't need a guide.

GermanyThe overall experience was stunning. The location in the desert is a bit farer than most other camps and not left/right of the main "road". Therefore you get a feeling of being alone. There are just 6 tents for guests and a bigger tent where you can spare your time and where the food is served. The tents with bathroom nearby are spacious and extraordinary clean. Cleaner than most other rooms/hotels we have been to in Oman and not something you would think of in the desert. The food for the breakfast and dinner was amazing and the staff is super friendly and attentive. Therefore the rating is a 10 out of 10. The only downside we personally experienced was the sunset camel ride. 25 OMR per Person for roughly 1km camel riding a few dunes away from the camp while walking on a leash. Then sitting on the dunes for the sunset and on the same way back to camp. Maybe our expectations were a bit to high, but the price/performance ratio just doesn't fit in our opinion. So full recommendation for the camp but not the camel ride.

United KingdomPerfect small-scale camp with just six tents, not far from Al Wasil but far enough off the desert road to be secluded, with no other camps in sight. The tents are spacious, comfortable and very clean, each with its own separate facilities. Saud is a kind and genial host who enjoys conversation with his guests. The food was excellent. We recommend the desert drive and visit to a bedouin family, not at all the false 'laid on for tourists' experience that these things can be.

United StatesNo complaints, but it would have been helpful to understand the costs a bit better. Currently, the exchange rate is 2.6 USD to 1 Oman riyal. Total cost of the experience was ~$200/night US. We weren't certain if we could drive our rental car all the way to the camp (it wasn't 4WD), so we elected to meet at a spot 9km away and they took us on into the camp. This transfer cost 25 OMR or $65 US. I think we could have made it and in retrospect probably should have tried it first. A 10 minute camel ride around the camp (highly recommended!) was 5 OMR and a 40 minute camel ride or trip to the local wadi was 25 OMR.
This was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed so much about it. Saud has created a beautiful, quiet, comfortable space for a small number of people to have an intimate experience in the desert, an homage to his experience growing up in Bidiyah. From beautiful tents to private bathrooms to wonderful food, Desert Waves is an amazing place to experience the desert, the stars, the scenery and experiences like camel rides or visits to local spots. We met some lovely people (fellow travelers) in the camp that we shared meals with, and Saud and his staff are very helpful, informative and friendly. FYI, two taxi drivers from Muscat quoted us 50 OMR each way to drive us to Bidiyah, and renting a car ourselves was less than half of that amount.

Switzerland-
We spent two nights in Saud's camp, which was one of the highlights of our trip. We met him close to Bidiyya, so he could guide us to the camp. Saud immediately made us feel very welcome with his hospitality and great humour. The tents with the kingsize beds are very comfortable and with all the necessary facilities (power, fan, lights etc.). We enjoyed every second at the camp with great food, coffee & dates chats with Saud and watching the sunrise/sunset and stargazing from the closest dune. We also booked two activities: the sunrise camel riding and a visit to a bedouin family, which was culturally very insightful. Saud explained all the do's and don'ts in the muslim culture and told us a lot about the bedouin life. As a little free extra, he took us an "dune-bashing" tour on the way back.

DenmarkCan’t think of anything. Everything was perfect
Anazing small camp…only six beautifully crafted beduin tents. Everything is meticulous and very delicate. Located in wonderful surroundings and extremely quiet…actually totally silent. Such a bliss. Sunset and sunrise were magical and the stairy night…wauw. The owner was delightful and very helpful. He answered all our questions of the camp and desert…thanks. He even managed to arrange a sandboarding tour in the desert. His son was our guide and so cool. Expert driver who really knew how to tackle the steep dunes. We had a great time and it was fun to sandboard down the dunes.

United KingdomWe had a fantastic time staying in Saud’s camp! We went during the quiet season and had the whole place to ourselves. The tents have all you need and are very spacious. The bed and linen are comfortable and good quality. The food prepared was so tasty and there was a lot of it, wether it’s dinner or breakfast. There is also a nice spot with cushions where you can lie down and watch the stars. The camp is further away from the big village-looking accomodations, and feels like you are having an authentic desert stay without compromising on comfort. We paid 25 OMR for a sunset camel ride each, 25 OMR for the parking pick up. Bring cash for everything!

My stay at Desert Waves Camp was truly memorable. Set right in the desert, it’s an authentic, laid-back spot—ideal for those wanting a more personal experience over the larger, commercial camps. Saoud, our host, even met us at the desert entrance to guide us to the camp, making arrival smooth and welcoming. The food was tasty, and stargazing under the clear night sky was a highlight. Just a note—bring cash to pay for your stay and activities. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy the desert in a relaxed, comfortable setting.

Amazing experience, we stayed the night, watched the sun set after a long camel ride, then the next morning, we visited a bedouin camp... It was my partners birthday, and Saud bought a cake for her, which added so much to our visit!! Amazing experience, loved every second of it, especially sitting under the stars at night

- good communication by Saud, the owner of the camp (pick-up details (for non 4x4 cars), dinner needed, activities provided etc), - cosy camp, 6 tents (which are very comfortable. Fans are available in the tents), - dunes around the corner, stars all over the place, - we opted for a dinner and lunch, which were both very good, - The staff was very friendly, and Saud came in in the evening for a talk (accompagnied with some dates and coffee/tea). Conclusion: if you are looking for a small scale camp with the sand dunes nearby, this is an excellent option (as there are a lot of camps available). .

The food is so incredibly delicious and the staff very friendly and attentive. We were very lucky to have the owner join us over dinner and share wonderful stories about his life, culture and love for the country. United KingdomThis is my second stay at Saud’s camp. The standard of the camp is incredibly high with beautiful tents in a lovely quiet location. The camp is quieter and more traditional than many of the other options. Just you, the sand, the sun, stars. Saud is a great host, he has a wealth of good knowledge about the surrounding area and gives up a lot of his time sharing stories and laughing. Hes very easy to communicate with. His staff are excellent and keep the camp very clean and your stomachs full. My thanks to both of them.

BelgiumThere is nothing not to like about Desert Waves. If self driving like we were, just be sure to lower your tyre pressure before heading into the dunes.
Amazing Omani welcome from Saud and his family. A stunning location with spotlessly clean and comfortable tents, with crisp linen and beautiful interior decoration. Delicious and plentiful buffet dinner taken in a traditional Omani tent setting, then sitting beside an open fire under the stars. This is a must visit location for anyone wanting to experience the beauty and tranquillity of the desert. And very fair value for money considering the amenities and warm hospitality. Don't miss the sunset!
