    Great Desert Experience!

Unfortunately the tents were still hot during the night and part of us decided to sleep out of the tent.... but we knew we would have been in the desert and there was no A/C, so no complains and this was just part of the overall (very positive) experience

The camp is made up of only four tents, which are isolated from other camps and from the town. Therefore you can experience the desert quiet and silence, without noises or lights. The camp itself has no electricity, which makes everything even more charming! Salah is a very experienced and kind host and does everything he can to make you have a good time. During the way to the camp he appositely decided to drive on the dunes and this was very fun and exciting! Well done Salah!

    We didn’t stay long enough.

From the moment we met Salah to the second we said goodbye, our stay at Desert Moments was truly wonderful. Salah and his team are beyond friendly and hospitable, they make you feel at home. His camp is nice and secluded and you feel you are in the Desert proper rather than observing from the periphery. This doesn’t mean a lack of comfort though, it is authentic and the perfect place to unwind. Travelling with young children? - we have three (2,5,8), and they loved it. From riding camels to running around the dunes and sand-boarding. All I can say is Thank you

    All perfect

Exceptional stay. Perfect mix of comfort, style, tradition. The tent was splendid, Salah was a perfect host, food was great. The location is super, on top of the dunes with great views. Though the daytime was predictably very hot at night we used the douvet (in case you are thinking of opting for a camp that offers A/C tents, it is not necessary!).

    Nothing.

This is a properly remote desert camp with no electric lighting and no generator. Very peaceful. Salah, the owner, is a great host. The food is great and the tents are very comfortable. A very relaxing place to be.

    We liked everything!

Where should I start? We liked everything. The location of the camp is amazing and you will become part of the beautiful Wahiba Sands. The food is excellent and the staff is paying a lot of attention. We were really glad that we stayed for two nights as there was so much to explore. We observed beautiful sunsets, sunrises and could watch the stars without light pollution. During the day, we did some sandboarding and walked between the dunes. Last but not least, we enjoyed the great company of Salah, the owner of the desert camp. Thank you for a very entertaining evening around the campfire. Last but not least, we had two comfortable nights in the tents. Overall, it was worth every penny!

We had an amazing stay at the camp. It is located on top of a dune, rather than in the valley as most other camps are, so we had a direct view of sunset and sunrise right from our door step. Our host Salah met us in town and guided us in, otherwise we could not have found the place. Driving up the dune was a challenge, even in a 4x4, but Salah was able to help out. It is the last camp, so it is very quiet, and there are only 5 tents. We were lucky to be the only ones staying there so we had the whole place to ourselves. Each tent has a verandah to hang out in and there is also a very nice and airy common seating area. Salah and his staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us a delicious dinner (the best we had in our entire stay in Oman!), expecially the mutton mishkak. Salah also told us many stories of the place. The kids had a great time playing in the sand and sandboarding down the dunes, while we relaxed and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Would highly recomend! Would go back again some time!

Stunning location from the camps we saw on the way (some look like prison camps) this is the best. Salah the owner is a true gent and fantastic host who engages with his guests. The camp is best described as basic luxury which is exactly what you want from this memorable experience. Good fantastic freshly prepared and very generous portions. Salah it was a pleasure to meet you and the three of us wish you all the best for the future.

    Absolutely Outstanding

We have been travelling for 2 weeks with our 5 year old kids and stayed in 6 different locations including five star hotels - The desert camp was our undisputed favourite. Here is why: - The camp is very private with 5 tents only, which makes the experience pretty exclusive. - It is absolutely quite – no dune bashing around, no generator noise, no other people. - It is sufficiently remote from the village and other camps to have absolutely no light pollution and reward you with a magnificent view on the night sky. We loved the fact, that it operates with oil lamps during the night. If you need more light, you can ask for it. - The food is freshly cooked in the camp by a chef, who is doing his job with passion and was among the best we had on our journey. Not only for adult foodies, also our 5 year old children loved it. Being back in a restaurant in Muscat, my little son asked for the soup, he had in the camp. - Salah is a great host and always available for an interesting chat. Nevertheless, if you want to have your privacy – you absolutely can. The little terrace allows you to spend some time on your own in the shadow without being in the tent. (Being in the desert every room gets hot during the day.) - The typical activities can be arranged for you in an appropriate way. Just ask for it. We did the camel ride and the kids loved it. Way better than the five star hotel offers in Muscat. - Shower is not heated, which was no issue neither for us parents, nor for the children. There are several showers and toilets so don’t be afraid that you have to queue. - Arriving there is no problem and still offers you the desert offroad experience. Salah picks you up at the village and guides you (without extra fee) or can arrange a transport. (I did hear from others that also a transport from Muscat can be arranged.) I highly recommend the camp to everybody who wants to experience a private and high quality stay in the desert nature and is not looking for an amusement park.

    Nothing

We were lucky enough to have a truly authentic desert experience with Salah, and it was simply perfect! Salah was incredibly kind and attentive. He picked us up and brought us to the camp, and even on the way there, we realized we had made the right choice. Driving past other camps located in valleys with little to no views, our excitement only grew. Salah's camp is situated in a remote area in the heart of the desert, offering complete tranquility – so peaceful that you could almost fall asleep just sitting there. The location is breathtaking, and every tent comes with its own private balcony to enjoy the stunning views. The tents were brand new, in excellent condition, and very comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, ensuring that nothing was missing. The food was delicious, with a wide variety to choose from, and freshly grilled dishes were prepared right in front of us. What stood out the most was the camp's location: far away from other camps, deep in the desert, allowing us to witness a breathtaking sunset and a magical starry sky. From a distance, we could see other visitors driving to less scenic spots to catch the sunset – at Salah’s camp, we had the perfect view right at our doorstep. An incredible experience that we wholeheartedly recommend! Thank you, Salah, for this unforgettable time.

Nothing. Everything was amazing and more than what I expected.

Everything!!! As soon as we arrived Salah made sure I was comfortable as was received with open arms. The tents are very roomy and super comfortable. The fact that you have your own little seating area in your tent is a plus! The food was amazing. Oh, and the fact that you can take a shower under the stars and freshen up after a long day is amazing! I can’t say enough about this location and Salah’s hospitality. At night this camp chooses to be candle lit without the drowning noises of generators to power lights. This makes it for a more relaxing atmosphere. Bring a god camera or even your iPhone Pro because the night sky shots will blow your mind!! Already planning my return trip and rest assured will be staying here again!!! If you’re looking for a great authentic and relaxing desert experience look no further, do yourself a favor and stay here. You won’t regret it.
