Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Singapore1. Parking. Theres space just outside the backpackers, that im very grateful but the parking below, was very deceiving and the space is over tight. They should mention when its full or a staff to guide. My car got scratched. 2. The fridges (theres 3 to 4 in the house), all full. I had to leave my groceries in the car. But i think its a Queenstown thing. 3. Closing the kitchen at 10pm. I think the no further cooking instructions were okie but to not be able to use the tables there to do your own thing, was quite grr.. forced to sleep early? Lol. Minor grouse.
1. Ive always liked the backpacker, bunk-beds concept. 2. Ensuite - consistent hot water, which was great! 3. Clean room, ample space to put ur stuff. I didnt bring my luggage with me, just a backpack. 4. Sufficient bathrooms around the backpackers. 5. Comfortable living room the chairs were huge and comfy. Theres tv, games, books... keeps u well occupied. They have game nights, quiz nights.. very entertaining. 6. Location was superb, near town but not too close. Good walk to and fro. Peaceful location. 7. Great staff. Very smiley and friendly.

United Arab EmiratesIt was hard to use hair tools in the mirror as there was no close plug to the only mirror in the bathroom. The seam in the middle of the beds, I assume where the two single beds have been joined, was uncomfortable to lay on.
Location is excellent. Bed was comfy, room was clean and there is heater in the room. Shower was spacious and staff friendly and helpful.

United KingdomFree parking is only 3 spaces and the street is usually fully parked up, so you have to walk a couple of minutes to park in another nearby residential street.
Nice, calm vibe at this hostel, esp. compared with the party hostels closer to the city centre. Still a good location though and appreciated the quiet neighbourhood. Comfy beds, plenty of kitchen space and equipment. The toilets and showers are good quality but a bit short on supply for the number of people, I had to wait more than once for a shower to free up. Cozy lounge area with a guitar.

AustraliaNo where near enough bathrooms, about 1 bathroom for 20-30 people makes it tough. It was fine for me but you have to carry your luggage up and down stairs.
The staff were fantastic, enough kitchen space. Great location, easy walking distance to town and where many activities are. Free parking available. The rooms are okay with enough storage space.

United StatesParking is limited, otherwise you're parking across and up Hamilton Road.
Perfectly located to get around Queenstown. Did the Ben Lomond Peak Trail to the summit via the Tiki Trail which starts just down the road from the hostel (only hike I didn't have to drive to). Clean, with a common room more like someone's home than a hostel. Light, charging point and place for small items, plus small curtain, at the head of the bed is a nice touch.

United KingdomThe staff were super friendly, helpful and good at cleaning. The hostel offered activities on an evening, we joined in with the outdoor yoga which was a great experience overlooking the mountains. The hostel had 3 kitchens and plenty of fridge and food storage. The location was a short walk from the centre of Queenstown.

United KingdomSeriously? Nothing!
Bunk/cabin beds were comfortable with individual charging points and a lamp, plus a curtain for added privacy. The staff were lovely (thanks to Amelia for your advice), plus free yoga with the lovely Sophie! Kitchen was spotless and well-equipped. The vibe was chilled and friendly, and the hostel is located with a short walk into town, and there is the Ramon-factor! Loved my two nights there.

AustraliaI think the price could have been lower for what it was, but otherwise I enjoyed my stay.
The bathrooms and kitchens were super clean because the long-term stayers clean them daily, which is much appreciated. Everyone cleans up after themselves and there is a nice atmosphere. I really like that everyone got a big locker under their bed. There were some free activities too Location is great - 10 min from the centre of town/beach and 3 min from a supermarket.
