Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was nothing I didn’t like, but keep in mind it’s a steep walk up a hill back from town at the end of the day if you’re walking. It’s not huge, but worth noting for those that need to know.
Great view and location, and I had room service breakfast twice which was great too. Staff were lovely, and I stayed in winter and the rooms were toasty warm. Wifi was great.

United KingdomCould do with a bit of a refresh as longs of the furniture is chipped or marked. Bath needs re-enamelling. Car parking is first come first served and is some awkward places which doesn’t help if visitors so not park with others in mind !

AustraliaWHAT DIDN'T I LIKE???? Leaving Heartland Hotel Queenstown. That's What I didn't like...
Heartland Hotel Queenstown IS the Hotel to base yourself while holidaying in Queenstown New Zealand. Celebrating my 60th Birthday with a 9 night booking in a Chalet Studio King View Room, was a Great Idea to have our Winter Holiday. Looking at the most gorgeous views of Lake Whakatipu and the surrounding snow capped Alps from our balcony, the location was perfect to take in Queenstown's Beauty. As the temperature outside plummeted down -4° on most nights, one would never know the chill outside due to our heated self controlled room which kept us warm including heated bathroom with plenty of hot water for a well earned hot shower after a long day discovering the sights of the area. Sleep was no problem with a very comfortable bed and outside noise was never a problem. Housekeeping was spot on + linen/towels was lovely. We hired a car and had no problem obtaining a carpark on returning everyday from our driving adventures and believe me when I say there is so many discoveries to explore outside of Heartland. Food and service at Heartland is A1. From the amazing hearty buffet breakfast to a fantastic dinner menu and to sit in front of a roaring fire with a nice drink in the bar area to relax and talk over what we achieved after a fantastic day was delightful. Have washing to be done, no problem as Heartland has a communal laundry on premises also which was a blessing. Heartland Hotel location is prefect to explore the town with a approx. 10min short walk down the hill to the hub area filled with soooo many great pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops, parks, the Marina and to catch the Gondola up to Skyline Coronet Peak, which I highly recommend a visit or 2, 3. All the staff at Heartland are amazing, friendly, helpful and just so damn nice and will go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. Sure some people will complain about the hill, about the age of the Hotel, about the car park, but hey, take a deep breath peeps, smile, be happy, enjoy Queenstown.

AustraliaThe water is either too hot or too cold. We asked for a late checkout and were granted one, 15 mins after original check out time we received a call saying we need to checkout and then had a knock on the door at the same time saying the same thing. We explained we had been granted a late checkout. They said they could see that on our booking and they’ll see us soon. Would have been nice if they had checked that before calling and sending someone to us.

United KingdomStaff were really helpful. We got off to a bad start when the flush of our toilet wouldnt work properly and they got a new room for us straight away. Bar and catering staff (and manager) excellent too. Room clean and services all fine. Not 5 star but doesn't pretend to be. Great value for money. Beware of steep hill between hotel and town centre. Not the easiest to handle!

United StatesParking was a nightmare, there are too many rooms and not enough spots with nothing assigned. We ended up circling back four times and had to resort to street parking, it was a school day and we had to wake up early to move the car. The trash in our room wasn’t empty, which I understand people forget but I’m not a fan of immediately finding a used sanitary pad when I enter a “clean” hotel room. Extremely noisy - our door creaked like a tree falling over every time we opened it. You could hear anyone passing in the hallway or near the elevator. Not an issue for everyone but we have a baby and prefer to not wake her.
Staff were very kind. Laundry facilities took a couple times to dry but worked for us. Breakfast was tasty with a variety of options! Very large rooms. Room service & dinner were THE BEST. Must try the cheesy garlic bread - a chef special!
