Had a really lovely stay at Mountain Backpackers! Was a late arrival, but they have an easy system for late check-ins, and it was easy to get myself sorted without any help. Really enjoyed the vibe of this hostel, it's not a party hostel so everyone is really chill, friendly, and respectful. The shared space is very cozy, with couches and a large dining table for eating. Kitchen was fantastic, two stoves, excellent organisation of fridge and pantry space, where everyone has ample dedicated space all neatly organised and labelled. Bedrooms were comfortable, with space for luggage to slide under the bed and cubbies for secure storage if you want it. All areas were very clean and well maintained. Also really cute that they've got a cat on site, a little garden that you're welcome to pick herbs and produce from, and love the focus on sustainability - they collect food scraps for some pet pigs as well. Staff are super friendly and helpful, and can give great advice on hikes in the area. Would gladly come stay here again.

Mountain View Backpackers hostel was really lovely in terms of location, price, and brightness. It is clear the sense of community around the hostel is really strong and positive overall. Although I only stayed there one night, I saw there was a lot of nice socializing in a non-party way and nice touches like herb gardens and an open kitchen. Great option at a good price.

The electrical outlet was really close of the bed stairs and there is nothing to give more bed privacy in the room

No real complaints. Could have been a bit cleaner, beds a bit newer (less squeaky), rooms a bit nicer.

Only stayed one night. Good vibe, place was clean enough, had all the necessities, parking was simple and check-in was easy.

The only thing I could recommend with all hostels is a little bed light. Just because of the number of people sharing a room and sleeping at different times

This was the only hostel I properly stayed in after staying one night in an awful one. They were very welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were bright and clean with everything you needed. I could park outside which was great and I just walked into the centre.

A small backpackers hostel off the main streets but close enough to get to the lakeside in 5-10 minutes walk. I stayed here for 1 night and had a great experience - the staff and the guests were both really lovely and welcoming. There is a family vibe to the place and I really respected how the owners and staff are working towards maintaining that and the safe base for all those who stay there. There is a lovely communal area with a working kitchen, big wooden dining table and a cosy living space - sofas, games and wood burner that all adds to the family round the fireplace charm of this place. Parking outside was great but also lots of street parking around as well so not a problem at all in either regard. I was in a 6 bed mixed room in an adjacent building which was accessible by key. The beds were comfortable and warm with all linen provided and there were places to hang up or place clothing if you were there for longer periods. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend especially for solo travellers looking for a safe and welcoming community vibe!

Kitchen's a little messy, that's more due to the other backpackers though. Always clean by the time I saw it in the morning. I accidentally locked myself in the drying room (my fault...) and when I called the reception on my phone a few times no one answered :( bit of a silly situation though.

Obviously a well-loved property, with lots of signs and labels to make everything clear. Lovely layout, very homey, bedrooms and living area were nice and warm! I like their cat :D

The unruled guests that don’t clean after themselves. I was a bit off when realized the toilets where all outside the room and shared ( my fault I did t realize it on the room description) but they where always clean and there is 2 with toilet and 3 showers so it’s enough and it’s tidy!

The garden, the room was nice, warm and comfortable( winter time) . The kitchen is usually a bit messy cause there’s a lot of young people living there for the season and the act like at their at own home and don’t really clean after themselves… The toilets and shower were always proper though !

Great little hostel I stayed here for about 2 weeks and wish I stayed longer! Location, Facilities and staff are great would definitely stay again!
