A little run down however, the motel has been around for as long as I can remember so it's doing well for it's age.

Really good value for money and has everything you need for a weekend in Taumarunui. Middle of winter so it was freezing outside but the heat pump was great and kept the room warm. Jenny is so lovely, friendly and helpful.

If you're looking for somewhere central, this is not it! It's a 10 minute drive into Taumaranui. It's not as quiet as the location may suggest as it's in a 100km/h zone on the highway and trucks do roar past (Had no trouble sleeping though). The only significant issue was that no soap or shampoo was provided, but fortunately we had our own.

Very affordable accommodation which is kind of in the middle of nowhere, quite a way out of town - you really feel like you're in the country. It was pouring rain most of the time we were there but nevertheless it's in a beautiful setting and the view from the room out the back was quite stunning. I love how dark it is. So many motels leave bright lights on all night, but here you control your own outside light and it was extra dark - a real plus. The family room is spacious with separate rooms, WiFi good, and this was one of the few places we stayed with a smart TV and Netflix. (great for a rainy evening!).

Small drink stain on pillow case (tea or coffee) but was replaced when asked. Lack on consistent wifi in the room. No netfilix, or other viewing options on the TV. Lack of power outlets. None by the bed. Light would be better above the bed for reading.

Staff took the time to warm the room, before arrival. Staff were very friendly and approachable. Good cooking facilities. Awesome shower pressure. Comfy room.

Mahoe Motel is about 7km from town centre. It was a last minute booking as it was getting late. Located next to highway. Trucks speeding at 100km p/hr makes the whole unit vibrates and the traffic noise is relentless. I had a sleepless night even with earplugs. No hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner were provided. Fortunately I carried my own. The pillows have seen better days. All the pillows and the covers were covered with stains and smells musty. Must be due to people sleeping with wet hair as there is no hair dryer.

Greeted by a lovely lady who upgraded us to a renovated room. It’s spacious no doubt. The air conditioner worked very well for heating the room fast. There were numerous power points. Car park has under cover car port. Full kitchen and it is spotless and looked new.

Just the dining chairs, needing more padding. Everything else was totally as expected, and good value for money. The shower was complicated! But great - great strength and hot!

We liked everything! The only thing that could have been improved was the dining chairs - we had to use our pillows as cushions. Didn't notice any traffic noise to complain about, everything was clean and tidy, there were ample 'extras', like coffee, tea, hot choc drinks, milk.
