How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLovely Family managing this Homestay in sedi Village, a quieter Part of Pokhara Just behind Lakeside. Beautiful Views on the Lake and some Grasslands. They really make you feel at home there with a very positive Attitude. Stay away from this crowded places at lakeside and rather stay here!

Verified reviewThis was the most beautiful place I’ve stayed in Pokhara! I returned 3 different times since it really felt like a Homestay. The food was amazing and they make the absolute best banana Pancakes in Nepal! Once I got to stay in a bigger room for the same price. Also the view from the hostel was stunning. It’s a really quiet place, 10 min from Lakeside so I really was able to rest. Thank you so much for your hospitality, I hope I’ll return soon:)
Honestly nothing. Only that the road from lakeside to the hostel is really dark at night and a bit scary.
Thank you and it is nice to read your review .all is good and hope the road will imprive by putting some lights from our government we will try our best for that.

Verified reviewThe location is peaceful, view is amazing, food is home cooked and healthy. It really felt like a homestay run by a wonderful family. A great place to base yourself and go for peaceful walks along the lake in this village area just a short 5 min walk to Pokhara lakefront, shops, cafes, etc.
Thank you for your review and we will try to do our best for your guest. Please welcome again Your sincerely KB

Verified reviewQuiet location, good hot shower, comfortable bed. I was alone in a dorm room, so had a very good rest. There was a place in the garden to dry tent and clothes, wet after trekking few days under the rain.
Thank you for your stay with us and we will keep doing our best please come again or recomend some people.

Verified reviewWell named, Tranquil Water Guest House has a completely unobscured view of the lake. Between the guest house and the lake, there is nothing but agricultural terraces and one (presumably very happy) milk cow. The bucolic setting is pretty unique to this area and is a tranquilizer to the hustle and bustle of most of the world.
The only thing I didn't like was lack of hot water for a shower. Solar showers are popular here and work well. There is a system cost for solar showers. A cheaper, and viable, alternative is a showerhead heater. They are sometimes called suicide showers, but are actually totally safe if properly installed. They can be purchased for $50-100. With qualified installation, $125 total. Just a thought.
Thank you very much for your review and will do our best to our clients.

Verified reviewKibi and his family are nice, welcoming people. We stayed with them for a total of 9 nights with a break for trekking in between. Kibi is a guide and really helped us with local tips, as well as booking taxis and buses. During the Tihar festival we were welcomed in their family celebration with traditional tika painting and great food! The location is quiet and a short walk to the Lakeside action. The room was quite basic, yet spacious and clean.
Thank you very much for your great review.we will do our best for our clients.hope you had nice travel.

Verified reviewStaying at Tranquil Water Guesthouse was absolutely the right decision. The Guesthouse is located out of the super touristic area, just around the corner after the busy side of Pokhara. The rooms are big and nice, the view of the lake and surrounding is amazing, there is plenty of space overall, on the top there is space for doing yoga and while we went hiking to the Annapurna Circuit we could leave our bicycles and bags there. The offered food is very tasty (and cheaper compared to eat outside), they made us try some special Nepali food, they gave us advices about the permits (which they offer to arrange if needed) and they checked us last minute the bus tickets to Besisahar and a Taxi early in the morning (Kibi, the owner also works in a tourist agency and was a guide and porter most of his life). They really try to give the best service to travellers. We are happy to come back soon :)!
