    Location and staff

This is perhaps the best location in Pokhara with delightful staff, with a historical perspective, as it was declared open by Edmund Hillary in 1998. But the building badly requires refurbishment and a much improved cleaning regime under better management and supervision. The bathrooms especially was badly stained with soap and dirt marks in the shower area. We travel every month and for the first time we encountered a situation where a hotel that describes itself as 5 star refuses to do socks and undergarment laundry. They explained that they don't have a washing machine and the laundry is done by hand. Multiple descriptions on their web site are inaccurate and misleading. There is no "indoor Pool", no "in room safe", "Fitness centre" etc . We experienced several power cuts during day and night and was unable to use my CPAP machine and as a result and was up untill 3am. We were told they are unable to operate generator after 10pm because it disturbs the villagers.

    Property response:

Dear Dushmanthe GB, I am very sorry your bathroom was not up to standard and we have rectified this both at the time and in tightening up supervision as you rightly note. However, we do not align ourselves as 5 star, we are Tourist Standard in the Nepal Minsitry of Toruism categroies and maintainstandards well above that. As you will be well aware from your Sri Lankan origings, it is not culturally acceptable to hand wash other poeple's underwear outside immediate family. Our infromation on Booking.com has been rechecked and does not mention indoor pool or in-room safe and we are surrounded by hundreds of acres of natural fitness centre! Power cuts are beyond our management and Nepal being a developing country and pwer cuts are more frequent. You did not advise us of your CPAP machine requirements and therefore we made no arrnagements. We do not wish to pry into guests' medical needs and expect adult guests to be sensible in informing us for their own comfort. So, to conclude, I apolgise for the less than acceptable shower, that was rectified immediately but make no apology for the rest of your review. Yours sincerely, Marcus Cotton Managing Director

Best place to stay in Pokhara and surroundings !! Breath-taking views of the mountains from up there, long walks around with amazing guide , best Nepali food we’ve had so far , and best staff we’ve encountered! Helpful, kind, always smiling and always there to guide us and solve our needs. Really, best hotel in Nepal, we’ve stayed 3 nights and it was so worth it! We already miss it and hope we can come back soon!!!! Thanks a million Tiger Mountain family!!

It is a wonderfully beautiful and peaceful spot. The service is first class and we had a relaxing an indulgent stay. Sasan the guide was excellent.

I thought it was expensive compared to other options.

The team at Tiger Mountain made our stay very special. We really enjoyed the walks with Sajan; very informative and great to explore the surroundings including where he grew up. Harry did everything to really make us feel at home. The view from the room was spectacular. The food was the best we had in Nepal.

We’ve stayed at 6 different locations in Nepal ranging from usd40 to usd450 and by the end, struggled to make sense of the price/quality ratio. It was really, really good, bus so was another property where we paid usd100. Another one where we paid $120 was worse than one where we paid $40. Overall, definitely a very special stay and beautiful memory but expensive.

The staff were amazing. We were picked from Pokhara airport and taken to the lodge. The views are exceptional, breathtaking in the early morning. We enjoyed our walks with Hari and the picnics were divine. They were extremely helpful in organising our onward transportation.

This is a very special place in many respects: the location, the staff, the history. Nepalese beauty with a touch of class.
