How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location was great. Close to cafes restaurants and shops. Getting transport was easy.. The room were big with ample space. Balcony room was worthwhile. Breakfast was good. Freshly cooked eggs. The manager Mr B Bhujel made our stay a more personal experience. He introduced himself and greeted us from the first day. He made us feel welcomed and was generous with his time. He assisted us with whatever we wanted to do. He gave us directions and good advice. We were never hurried. Mr Bhujel couldn’t have made us feel more at home. Have to recommend this hotel because of the manager and staff . Can’t get any better.

Verified reviewHotel is in the middle of the old city and close to restaurants, bars and walking distance to a lot of touristical attractions. The manager was very kindly and helpfull with all our questions. It is a little bit noisy as it is very close to a night bar. The hotel kitchen was very clean and the breakfast was good for the price we paid. I can only recommend this hotel..

Verified reviewThe friendly and helpful staff really made my stay in Kathmandu exceptional. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the security guard who helped with my luggage, and at the desk, Badri - who is the manager, as well as the entire staff were all so welcoming and throughout my stay, everyone seemed genuinely happy and quite competent in their service. Badri's English is practically perfect - he was extra helpful as he arranged a city tour with a private driver at a reasonable price and also made sure I had an affordable taxi when it was time to go. I highly recommend The Address Kathmandu ... it's REALLY nice and honestly the best.

Verified reviewI wasn't sure where to stay in Kathmandu so I booked one night at The Address Kathmandu, and as soon as I saw the incredible neighborhood, the friendly and competent staff, as well as the really nice facilities and lovely room, I extended my stay! Everything is really great: the location is right in the middle of the best part of the city, the room is clean and comfortable, bed is cozy, A/C and wifi are strong, breakfasts are *very good* with an excellent buffet and options to have an omelet prepared to your individual taste ...overall it's a first rate hotel which I highly recommend.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The rooftop restaurant offered a great variety of food with stunning city views. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile to ensure a comfortable stay. With free Wi-Fi, airport shuttle service, and a peaceful atmosphere despite being in a busy area, this hotel truly exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for both leisure and business travelers visiting Kathmandu!

Verified reviewAt arrival, staff were friendly. They offered a packed breakfast for my day trip, included juice, an old pastry and a mouldy banana.
I was shocked by how filthy this hotel was. No one had cleaned the room, there were bugs everywhere, including in the bathroom. Dust covered every surface, and it was so bad I had to sleep in my own sleeping bag the first night. I couldn’t even bring myself to shower. I left for another hotel on the second day. When I reported the condition of the room to the front desk, I received zero apology or concern. No remorse, no offer to fix it, just complete indifference. Perhaps location was the only decent point I can mention. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

First, we would like to remind you that although you booked a Deluxe Room, we upgraded you free of charge to our Super Deluxe Room, which includes a bathtub, private balcony, and access to our rooftop garden—a gesture we extend to many guests whenever availability allows. We understand your concerns about cleanliness and comfort, and we sincerely apologize if the room was not in the condition you expected. However, we wish you had informed us about these issues at the time of check-in or during your stay, as we would have been more than willing to either clean the room again immediately or offer an alternative solution. Unfortunately, we were not given the opportunity to make things right. It is also worth mentioning that you booked for 3 nights, but we only charged you for 1 night after your early departure. While we understand your frustration, we kindly believe it is not fair to rate our hotel based on disappointment from an unrelated issue—such as your cancelled day trip due to bad weather, which was outside our control. We encourage future guests to read our many positive reviews on Booking.com and other platforms, which reflect the efforts we consistently make to provide clean, comfortable, and welcoming accommodation. The room was not made up between days and there was a general lack of toilet paper. The breakfast was basic, fruit was good, but I would not consider it a buffet.
