How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review- The staff was friendly - They bring the food you ordered to your room - It's a family business, and they have this hotel as their way of living
- it's 1'5 Kms to town, but walking stiff up the hill all the way. - There is nothing around, no shops. Which is good if you don't need to get something, but otherwise, you have to walk up 20-25 minutes - If you want to eat something, you have to order it well in advance, because they don't keep food there and they have to get the things. I came at 4 pm after having walked for 4 hours up a mountain, and was very tired, having not eaten anything that day, and I had to go to town... Again walking up. - The bed was uncomfortable. Very thin mattress over a wooden bed base

Verified reviewdistance from this homestay to the center of Nagarkot is more than 0.6 km. However, the view from the place is very nice. We booked the cheaper room, which did not have slippers, toilet paper, or a mirror inside. However, the shared bathroom had hot water. There was also no sink with a tap for washing hands. The food was relatively tasty, and the prices were almost the same as in town. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
Lack of a sink, slippers, and a mirror in the room

Verified reviewEverything is perfect here, the owners, the food (literally each dish was the best I had in Nepal), the views, the ambience… There are some hikes around, town is walking distance, cute local villages too! Stayed 4 nights but I’d definitely stay even longer next time!

Verified reviewA nice home stay with great views to valley and rice fields . Big room, two double beds, nice balcony. Attached restaurant very convenient and food is tasty. Value for money. We did nagarkot hiking trail and we enjoyed marvelous views. Trail starts behind nagarkot village view hotel (300 meters from hotel uphill) and goes straight doing a circle. Path is flat. At the end either you turn left, to find asphalt road, walk uphill 30 minutes, cross village and return homestay, or you return same way.
We had the impression that nagarkot was flat. It's the opposite. Only the main village, approximately 500 meters long is flat, everything else is a steep uphill or down hill . Home stay is minimum 25 minutes down hill. If you want to have lunch or dinner and you don't want to use their restaurant, which is very good by the way, it's not that simple. Don't expect to see sunrise or mountains summits. Usually, there is no visibility in the morning and poor visibility in the afternoon( that was the weather all 20 days we were in nepal, i don't know for other seasons l) Of course you can enjoy the landscape around which is very nice.. Bathroom is very small, hot water pressure low but nothing is a big issue.

Verified reviewStaying here was a truly unique experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and took the time to teach us about Nepalese culture, making us feel right at home. On top of that, the food was homemade and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and heartwarming stay

Verified reviewThe location could not have been better. The sun rose outside our window. We sat on a bench outside our room to watch but we could have seen it from our beds. The staff are wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. They arranged everything we needed. And the bus to Khatmandu stops directly outside.
The mattress was a little hard but it didn’t stop me having a wonderfully restful night’s sleep.

Verified reviewI had envisioned that Sunrise Point Homestay as the perfect stay for a peek into the universal place that is the Himalayan range. And I was not disappointed. This place reminds us that life thrives with simplicity. You will find a beautiful family in the Kumar family, who all run the guesthouse as their family business. But be respectful, their family house is next to it. They generously allowed me to visit parts of it (animal shed, rice drink produce by the matriarch and more). The sunrise exists and it is glorious. You actually get front seats for it if the weather allows so, surrounded by the sounds of nature and, sometimes, the Tamang language spoken by the Kumars (who also speak English and Nepali). Will go back someday, for sure. Let´s help them thrive.
As a future endeavour or business idea for the Nagarkot community (not just the business owners): is there any way for getting a taxi or similar transportation in the case a tourist wants to go to the Homestay after nightfall? (the road is quite dark at that hour to go on foot to the Homestay).

Verified reviewThis homestay is a beautiful spot. Very laid-back atmosphere, lovely garden around and very friendly host. The Food was excellent and cheap, one of the best we had in Nepal! You have to wait for it a bit tho, but it's all cooked fresh. We are bird-watchers and the amount of birds you can spot from the terrace or balcony is just amazing! We really loved our stay here and would come back anytime! For that price, this is an absolute gem.
The only minus point would be the bed. The rooms with a shared bathroom have a very thin mattress on top of a wooden board, which was just too hard for us. I don't know about the ensuite rooms tho. If they would invest in some good mattresses, this could be heaven!

Verified reviewWas there for 5 nights but could have happily stayed for 2 weeks. Food was amazing and almost all home grown. Location also perfect (just outside the town, with a beautiful view) and lots of nearby hiking trails/tracks/villages to explore. Probably my favourite place in Nepal.
