How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is excellent, right by Durbar Square in the heart of the old city. Plenty of restaurants and cafes all around, to suit all tastes and budgets. I liked the friendly little local cafe just outside. The hotel owner Bobby is very helpful and friendly, he can tell you everywhere to go, or even take you there. The room was clean and bright and quite big and comfortable, and the shower was good with plenty of hot water.
There is no front desk, so be sure to tell Bobby exactly what time you're coming so he can meet you there, especially if your bus or flight is delayed. I used WhatsApp
Thank you Chris.

Verified reviewAmazing place to stay in the center of Kathmandu ! Very close to Durbar square, Thamel and other sites of interest. A great thing is that the house is on a small square with a pagoda wich has a very laidback atmosphere and friendly neighbors. There is a kitchen corner with a supply of clean water in the house wich is fabulous. I highly recommend staying here if you plan to visit Kathmandu !

Verified reviewVery clean. Felt safe at all times during my stay. A little supermarket just next door.
Dear Andreea, Oh, my goodness, it was truly my pleasure to have you as my guest. I'm so very glad to hear that you had a positive experience. I do my best to ensure everyone feels welcome and comfortable, and I'm relieved that you felt that way. Providing a clean and safe environment is something I consider very important. Offering a pick-up and sharing some local knowledge is just a small way I try to make the stay a little easier and more enjoyable. And yes, I'm glad the little supermarket next door was convenient! I sincerely hope that your positive experience might encourage you to consider staying with me again sometime in the future. It would be an absolute honor to welcome you back.

Verified reviewGood facility with plenty of solar powered hot water, clean, well situated at the center if Kathmandu, away from the more touristy Thamel, very safe. A genuine Nepalese experience in a great neighbourhood. I stayed February/March 2025 and only left because it was fully booked beyond the dates I initially booked. Im hopeful its available next trip! Bobby owns and operates the place and made my stay awesome, picked me up from the airport and took me to many places it would have been difficult to arrange to go to; showed me all the essential shops in the area (theres a great convenience store downstairs) and gave me many tips on how to navigate the city's peculiarities. Thanks, Bobby! See you next year!
Nothing I didnt like about this place.
Oh my goodness, reading this just warmed my heart! Thank you so, so much for your incredibly kind words. It truly means the world to me. I'm just so happy you felt comfortable and safe at Nirvana Kuti, and that you were able to experience a bit of the real Kathmandu. It's what I always hope for my special guests as you 😊 Honestly, picking you up from the airport and showing you around was my pleasure! It's just a small way I can try to make your stay easier and more enjoyable. And, of course, pointing out the best shops is a must! I'm so glad you felt at home here. Knowing you're hoping to return next year really makes me smile. I'll be eagerly looking forward to seeing you again, and hopefully, we'll have a room waiting for you! Thank you for such a wonderful review. It really made my day. Thank you again whole heartedly Reinaldo.

Verified reviewI stayed in Nirvana Kuti following the recommendation of Linda, a wonderful woman that I met in Delhi airport. She was indeed accurate: Nirvana Kuti is such a beautiful accomodation, comfortable, clean and pretty new. It was easy to feel home. Besides the comfort of the room, with a big, warm bed, with views to the temple just in front of the house, it is located just a few steps from Durbar square, in a very calm street. I slept extremely well and woke up to the beautiful views. Life is magical and I met Bobby, the owner of Nirvana Kuti, even before my stay. He kindly offered me a ride to Nirvana Kuti, and he made it very easy for me to feel home. Even more, he also allowed me to stay a bit longer because my bus was leaving in the evening. I appreciate Bobby's kindness and the beautiful taste in which the house is built. It is both comfortable and stylish, and the location couldn't be better. Thank you Bobby for making of my last days in Kathmandu (for this time) a beautiful experience and see you next time ♡
Thank you very much for your genuine remarks . Hope to see you in the future, someday.

Verified reviewThe location of the property is just great, its just a min walk from the KathmanduDarbar Square. Very clean and well maintained property. One can have enjoy complete privacy in this property. It's more of owning your own flat at the heart of the Kathmandu.
Hot water was not available for 24 hrs...in winter mornings it becomes difficult to manage without hot water in bathroom. Also proper mirror was absent, so getting ready was a bit challenging. Additionally the WIFIis awfully slow, it almost never worked.

Verified reviewBobby is an excellent, caring and friendly host,he picked me up from the bus stop, waiting patiently as traffic held us up. A ride on the back of his motorbike to the hotel was great fun! Room spacious, double and single beds, wardrobe, chair and table, several power points, clothes stand. Directly outside the room is a wash basin, shower room and toilet next door, plus kitchen with kettle. Each guest is on a seperate floor, so very private. Sat up on the roof terrace in the sun one morning too. Central position, 2 minutes from Durbar Square, plenty of local shops including a supermarket next door to the hotel.
Nothing, it was great.
Thank you very much Tabi , really appreciate it.

Verified reviewno meals included. All was good, I liked nothing in particular, all satisfactory.
The building was difficult to find. I went out to explore Durbar Square and had some trouble finding place again. The area is a bit of a maze of small streets all rather similar. By day three I was OK with it.
The Google map could have been a reliable assistant to find our place, ☺️ .Anyway, Thank you for your remarks.
