How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe manager was aggressively pressuring me into taking hard drugs. He had the creepiest friends coming round high on allsorts. They were talking about black market stocks, so I don't know what would have happened if I'd been drunk or worse.
The rooms had the decor of a crack den.

Verified reviewMystic vibes is indeed a unique homestay in Kathmandu. Located in a quiet area of the city, it is only a few minutes by motorbike from the main attractions of the city. Besides the great facilities including a gym and a mandala room for relaxing and sharing some insightful conversations, the room is spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom is big and has hot water. I arrived with a bit of a cold from my journey and my stay in Mystic Vibes helped me to recover. Sunit, the host, is a very kind man. He checked up on me and made me feel welcome. His place is a unique combination that nourrishes the body and the soul. Besides, it is located above Art Brew Coffee, a café that is also a space to develop creativity through painting. Thank you Sunit for welcoming me in Mystic Vibes ♡

I arrived after 9pm to a completely dark building and had to call the owner to tell me how to get in. It was eery and kinda creepy. The owner tried to make it pleasant, but the first impression stuck. The bathroom wasn’t nice and there was no hot shower. One of the guests told me how to get hot water, but I don’t think the gas heater is still safe and it was pretty scary. I also couldn’t close my curtains properly and the window opened up to a public balcony, so getting dressed felt a bit tricky

Verified reviewThe owner is someone you must meet if you stay in Kathmandu, really a super friendly and knowledgeable and fun guy. This hostel is awesome if you are into fitness - gym with everything you could ever need right downstairs, and the trainer is there every morning, he is competing with the owner to be the most kickass guy you will meet in KTM. Super good vibes from these guys, and it's a nice neighborhood as well, up the hill away from the smog and hustlers in Thamel. Truly a unique little sanctuary, count yourself lucky to connect with this crew.
The beds are pretty hard, could use a thicker mattress or maybe just two of the hard ones stacked up lol. But "this is Sparta!!!", yes? Still beats choking on motorbike exhaust in the city center.
