How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFirst, we simply loved Bhaktapur! We were nicely welcomed to Milla's guesthouse, and honesly the place is a jewel. (I could easily live there!) The room nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable, and the caretaker offered to guide us through the old city, it was a beautiful experience. At night we went for dinner at Tusa, a culinary experience by passionate restaurateur. (minutes away from the guest house). Breakfast was a delight!
Nothing, we were happy with everything and everyone!

Verified reviewSuch a lovely property in traditional style, beautifully kept and the caretakers showed such pride in it. They were so helpful and Laxman spent time walking with me in the town showing me places I would not have gone, and Sanu and Laxman made sure I had everything I needed throughout the stay. Would definitely recommend.

Verified reviewThis lovely guest house is managed by a charming couple Laxman and Sanu who try so hard to make a guests stay perfect. The location is in the heart of Bhaktapur far away from tourist hotels, here you are really immersed in the community while still enjoying home comforts. Dattarraya Square is less than a five-minute walk away where there are a couple of recommended restaurants. We had a spacious room with balcony. Hot water always available and while the room was quite cool in the evenings, a portable gas heater is provided which was very effective. No kettle in the room but there is kitchen on the top floor to make drinks. Good breakfast each morning which is European style with boiled egg, yoghurt and fruit, cheese, tomato and cucumber slices plus bread and jam, juice and coffee.

Verified reviewA wonderful inn with such personable caretakers. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. The location was quiet, yet so close to a wonderful square where we loved to people=watch and wander.
They did not take credit cards, which did require ATM withdrawals.

Verified reviewAfter our stay in Thamel, we transferred to Bhaktapur Milla Guesthouse. It was somehow hard to locate by the driver. It was tucked away among the old quarters. Once you enter the guesthouse, it was a pleasant retreat from the surroundings. A very well designed and maintained house. All guests were required to leave behind their shoes at the entrance which kept the interior free from dirt from outside. A wise policy. The Bhaktapur Square was only a stroll away and we visited the attractions accompanied by the caretaker Mr Lakshman. He could spare his time as we were the only guests that day. He was a wonderful person, always positive and cheerful. His wife, Mdm Sanu took care of the meals. Their masala tea was heavenly, the best I ever had. My wife and I loved their breakfast so lovingly prepared and served with style. The green beans pancake called Bara was crispy and delicious. The nights were cold but our room was provided with a gas heater which kept the room warm. We would like to thank Lakshman and Sanu for their warm hospitality which really made our stay a pleasant and memorable one. Hope to return to Milla Guesthouse in the near future.

Verified reviewBhaktapur was our first destination in Nepal and we were happy to have stayed at Milla Guesthouse. Learning about Götz Hagmüller, the architect of the Patan Museum and the Garden of Dreams, and the story of the guesthouse are great bonus for us. Convenient location. Cosy and clean bedroom. Delicious and hearty breakfast. Attentive and welcoming hosts. Reliable transport services. Milla Guesthouse and Bhaktapur gave us a great introduction to Nepal.

Verified reviewThe place was excellent! Great breakfast, large and very comfortable rooms, the staff was top notch, location was quiet, beautiful and close to all the conveniences, very good wifi, good placement and plenty of power outlets, and they do laundry!
The only downside, and it wasn't for us, but I point this out only for people who must have this, there was no air-conditioning. A fan is provided in each room and that was perfect for us!

Verified reviewMilla is one of the most beautiful guesthouses I’ve seen—modern in construction and facilities, traditionally and tastefully appointed, with lovely details at every turn. Located in a quiet and traditional courtyard in the heart of old Bhaktapur, steps away from Dattatraya Square, it is managed by the kindest people, who helped me navigate to every place I needed. And the breakfast is wonderful (try the homemade jam)!
