How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe can totally recommend staying at Lama Hotel in Lukla. The staff was so friendly, kind and attentive. We felt really taken care of - all of the family helped us organizing another option as our flights got cancelled…..the food was super (we had dinner and breakfast there) the street nice and good to do some shopping before heading back ;-)
We did not have a hot shower, but it was already late when we tried turning on the water and we didn‘t ask further as it was ok for us:-)
Namaste, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it! We try our best to give good service for our guests. We are glad that you liked your stay in our hotel. On the contrary, we apologize for the incovenience. The hot water takes a while to warm up as there were other guests that might have finished it up. Thank you though for understanding. You guys have been wonderful guests as well. We hope to see you again in the future!

Verified reviewThe hospitality of the host was exceptional. Nothing was too much for Lakpar Laman( sorry if I spelt your name wrong). Lakpar ( the owner)was really helpful and sorted out any issues that we encountered, with a smile. He went above and beyond what was expected of him as a host. And the food??. Was to die for. Food was really good and the portions were great. We also gathered a lot of general information about Nepal and the owner made time to talk and explain things to us. I would certainly recommend Lama hotel and would definitely stay there again if I’m in the region. We found that we were not just treated as a number but as people that are valued and respected. It was the first time that we got complimentary water and even coffee before we checked out. The room was high and we could see Lukla airport from our room window. The room was as in the photos and was very cosy. We got our food delivered to our room which was a luxury for us in Lukla
The fact that there was no handrails on the upper floor stairs

No any arrangment in washroom no tisu paper no paper soap no bucket no mug, in room not a single glass of water, Hotel owner refused to provide any facilities, a single cup of tea he don't provide
Namaste , It’s off season now , no tourists and not able to run restaurant as we don’t hire staff. We provided you a good coffee / Americano local beans coffee for FREE , which you seem now ungrateful. We personally helped you to book a flight, but unfortunately the flights were cancelled and you came back to the hotel and started to bargain for the room to give in very cheap price than usual discounted price as we denied and now you are giving us bad reviews , how unfortunate to have a guests like you. God bless you.

Verified reviewRelatively comfortable rooms
It is a quite disrespectful hotel The owner insisted that Booking did not deliver the payment, although it was indicated in the application. He refused to receive dollar', and we were left without cash. We still do not know if wepaidd twice
Dear sir/ma'am, With all due respect, you know to yourself that you were not being honest. I asked you for the receipt of your payment but you refused to show. The system only ask for card details. You should receive a notification from Tab.com in case there was deduction from your card, otherwise it was only the details you filled up when you booked the room. You can check with your bank to see if there was money deducted. I stood up with you based on what I know was right, as you were showing rude behaviour. Also, a little bit of advice-- check in first with the hotel and confirm your payment rather than just directly leaving from the hotel. We had to come at the airport to find you to get our payment.

Verified reviewGreat location, right on the "strip", and only a few minutes away from the airport (convenient for the early take off back to Kathmandu). Also, the place is family owned and the couple running it is extremely kind and helpful. The food is excellent and the rooms are clean.
The water pressure in the shower was nearly non existent, and no hot water came out, even after waiting 10 minutes.

Verified reviewThe front desk staff were very helpful. We left a bag at the hotel at the start of our trek and it was waiting for us when we got back. We had a large room and the beds were comfortable enough
My biggest complaint was the state of repair. There was continuous water on the floor in the toilet that came from somewhere (I hate to guess where) and the carpet was in very sad shape. There was also a lot of noise though some of this came from outside and wasn't the hotel's fault. Overall it was a bit worse than the other tea houses we had on our three week trek but it was a lot more expensive.
