We had the most comfortable stay at Kathmandu Garden Home. The staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and nice to chat with. The garden off the busy main streets of Thamel is a beautiful and peaceful resting place and in the perfect location with excellent restaurants very close by, or eat at the hotel if you're feeling lazy - great menu and coffee/bar too. Also at breakfast you will have everything you need and more. Will definitely return on my next visit!

AustraliaSometimes the Wifi would go off or be a bit weak. When approached they offered to check this out. Sure enough they must have, as it came back on. Perhaps one thing they could do is look at strengthening the signal and making it more reliable on Level 4. Most of the time it was ok. I did go down to the Lobby to use it one day when I had some issues. Worked well here, so thats another option. Most of the time we were out, so it was not often an issue.
The staff at KGH were very helpful and friendly. There were always obliging when approached with anything needed. The staff at breakfast were always willing to assist with extras, like an omelette rather than what was available in buffet. They made a very nice cappuccino and it came with a gracious smile. The security guard was always very welcoming and friendly - he was more like a meet & greet person, courteous and friendly no matter whether it was the first time or the 20th time he saw us entering. This created a wonderful welcoming presence. Rooms were very good. Ours had a small balcony which was real neat. The location was towards the edge of Thamel and away from the more general noisy spots. Most of the times it was very quiet which was important for us. Really liked the garden out the front. A patch of green was a great feature within the KGM!

There is a lovely garden area and peacefull outside bar .Breakfast was ample and expresso coffee pretty good. Some great city and mountain veiws from the upper floors.

Quiet location in a dead end road at the edge of Thamel, yet close to all the restaurants and shops. Friendly receptionists who let us leave our extra bag while we were trekking. Good breakfast with fresh fruit, toast, omelette and a variety of savoury local dishes. Very friendly waitress who always served us with a smile. Spacious clean room with a kettle and tea/coffee, clean bathroom and nice hot shower. Garden with seating area and coffee bar.

New ZealandMy only complaint (very minor) is that they only have instant coffee at the breakfast buffet - I travel with my own coffee/ french press, so I survived, but I shudder to think for other, less prepared travelers.
Kathmandu Garden Home was our base before and after a hike and was super comfortable, practical, and well-run. Great location on a quiet side street off the main drag, comfy and well outfitted rooms, hot showers, and a great system for taking care of our bags while we went on the hike. Would definitely stay again!
