Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOh, did I hate those stairs! I should have taken Yellos up on his offer to change my room.
Good breakfast to start the day. Very friendly and accommodating host, who arranged an excellent tour guide and driver for all the sights I wanted to visit in Patan and Kathmandu. Yellos (host) was kind enough to put me on the top floor, so I wouldn't have street noise. What he didn't know, since I'd forgotten to request a lower-floor room, is that I have a hard time with stairs. There were *many*, very narrow, stairs. He did offer to move me after a couple of days, which I turned down because I didn't want to be a bother. I eventually decided to take him up on it, and thought I'd sent him a text to that effect, but discovered at the end of the day that I'd accidentally texted myself instead of him. So I decided to forget it. The proximity of the guesthouse to the ancient Patan Durbar Square, with its stunning architecture and excellent museum, allowed me to visit the old city twice during my stay.

AustraliaThe was nothing to dislike. The place was perfect
Loved everything about Hira Guest House. Yelos our host was incredible and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. He was a wealth of knowledge about the history and everything about Patan. The architecture and artworks in the building was impressive and it felt like we stepped into that time in history. The place was actually better in real life than in the photos. There was also no need for air-conditioning as the building was well insulated therefore sustainable. My husband and I will definitely be returning to Hira Guest House

IndiaBathroom WC did not have health faucet / jet spray. Bathroom ceiling height is too low - so this place is not for people taller than 5'-9".
Check-in process was good. Traditional Nepali food served for breakfast which was very good.

United StatesThe signage for the Guest House needs to be more prominent, to make it a little easier to find.
The location of this hotel was perfect! Basically right in Patan's Durbar Square. The hotel is in a 300 year old building that used to be the house of the accountant of the king back in the day.The family that owns and runs the Guest house are all very nice and I would stay here again on my next trip through Nepal.

CanadaHira Guest House is an authentic 300-year old house maintained in beautiful condition. The doorway lintels are low as it was customary to bow when entering a room. It is not a western style hotel. The host, Yelos, is a warm and friendly man, who is happy to share his knowledge and love of Nepalese culture and customs. We enjoyed traditional cuisine and shared a meal with his family.

JapanIt's difficult to adjust the temperature of the water. The ceiling is low, so be careful not to hit your head.
A lovely guesthouse, a traditional house renovated with modern facilities, located in the middle of Patan's old town, it feels like you've traveled back in time.

SwitzerlandWe had a lovely time at Hira. The place is meticulously designed, sparkling clean, and reeking of luxury and old world charm! The place and rooms look even better than in photos. Mika, the caretaker, goes above and beyond for your needs, is always available and polite. And Yelos helped us with issues that came up for us so promptly. Also - if you are lucky enough to get breakfast cooked by Yelos' mum, you have reached nepali heaven! 🤩 We would whole-heartedly recommend Hira Guest House to anyone who is open to a vacation in a beautiful, rustic, living museum!

NepalHira guest house is a beautiful Newari traditional hotel just 50M from world heritage site "Patan Durbar Square". As per the local people the hotel building carries a history of 700 years where once Janga Bahadur Rana used to stay during his field visit to Patan. The staff at the hotel is incredibly courteous and helpful around-the-clock. We especially appreciate the associate at reception who helped us by virtue of the goodness of his heart, making our stay remarkable. Also thanking Mr. Yelos Raj Bajracharya, the property manager, for his informative briefing of the property's history and culture. Additionally his guitar playing is very stupendous. If you want to get a taste of the local way of traditional Nepali life, I heartily recommend the Hira Guest House. Expressing gratitude to the staff of Hira Guest House for a wonderful experience.

United KingdomI’ve never met more warm and hospitable hoteliers before. I loved the room/whole place so much, it is so charming and quaint with the traditional Newari architecture… that’s a huge treat by itself to experience a part of authentic Nepali culture and history in this 300 year old building… also I can’t forget the hot shower + Huge comfy mattress! And just having tea in the courtyard… but above all I enjoyed my conversations with Yelos the most. He is so knowledgable about Nepal’s cultural, art and spiritual history… I felt like I got 10 free guided tours without leaving the guest house. And yes it very much encapsulates the feeling of a guest house rather than a cold, corporate style hotel where there is no warmth and personal involvement. I highly recommend Hira Guest House. They helped me with so many things and saw that each guest got the same amazing service and treatment, it was so delightful to stay and I can’t wait to come back again.

United KingdomAs the surrounding area is very dusty, more frequent cleaning would be beneficial.
Although there is a very busy area nearby, the guest house is located in a quiet spot. Fantastic building, very old. Front windows made of artistically carved wood. Very nice and helpful stuff, they will make you feel very welcome.
