Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe rooms can be a bit noisy at night. There was a festival for several days during our stay so that may have contributed to some of the extra noise in the area.
The location of hotel Bihani is in the heart of Thamel, perfect for walking to great restaurants and shopping. The breakfast was great and the staff was always very helpful and kind.

GermanyThe staff, Biru‘s tea is the best in all of Thamel - simple as that, and the excellent Restaurant, which simply provided me throughout and almost exclusively.
…you‘re too old. It is noisy. Just know that you‘re really in Thamel Center. Usually it all stops, Live music, Karaoke, Clubbing, at 01:00. It can get 02:30h. I had it at 04:00 once. Indeed that‘s something the hotel is not to take responsible for. Sadly, it get‘s noisy at times in the hallway itself. The rooms are reasonably priced and fairly clean, though the bathroom had roaches twice and could use thorough cleaning. Now, if you have a bad back, be forwarned: the bedding is ridiculously soft! Avoid if you can‘t handle that. I got myself a hard mattress on my own money, because i stayed 10 days and the hotel couldn‘t provide. The staff is exceptional! And Biru & the boys can really become friends in a short notice. Awesome guys! All in all: i give not out lighthandedly negative reviews. In fact, i never have, because most of the time it is not fault of the accommodation rather than meeting personal favors and needs. So, when you are budget travelling, looking for a stay for maybe two to three days and don‘t mind supersquishy bedding: you‘re in for a treat (eat at the restaurant right at the hotel!!!). Otherwise, you want silence and just that undefined extra more, look somewhere else.

IndiaA lager spread for breakfast would be a bigger advantage. There is no other issue. The absence of elevators can be a challenge for elderly guests at the hotel.
The excellent deal was the near-perfectly comfortable stay at the hotel, especially the reception staff, Ms.Rana. She was excellent at customer service.

FranceModern Boutique Hotel with impeccable sunlit rooms with view over the Thamel busy streets but quiet enough to rest. Faultless modern spacious rooms . Gentle staff and very careful to their guests, adding a superb value to what is already a greater option by far. Highly recommended.

BangladeshOverall it was nice. But toiletries they provided was for one person, no mat on the floor, no sliper in washroom and room. Though, during checkout maneger/ owner was sorry and mentioned if we told before they would rectify. It was unintentional mistake.
The behaviour of the staff and manager was very nice. The conversation about staying in Nepal was interesting. And the location of the hotel at the center of Thamel was another value adding fact. Also the facility to keep luggages were a great help.

Russia1) I killed about ten cockroaches in the room in one hour. They may have been crawling on me while I was sleeping. 2) There were no towels in the room. None at all! Not a single one. This is a hotel! 3) The door lock was locked with a key and opened with difficulty 4) The hotel looks old and beaten. Dirty curtains, not washed for a long time. But the main thing is the cockroaches. 5) There is no elevator 6) On the central tourist street, you can hear sounds from the street. 7) My booking.com reservation was falsely cancelled by the hotel. I have restored it and am writing this comment. 8) I paid the equivalent of $22 cash per night (3000 Nepalese rupees), but even that is too much for this. I gave the money first and then offered to give me a discount for such a low quality. The owner refused. I moved to a great hotel for a little more money and enjoying the atmosphere here. Never stay here, there are many great cheap hotels in Kathmandu! 9) don't believe pictures
