Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandGood price. Beautiful location with views of the fjord and mountains. Pleasant garden with hammocks and loungers. Friendly and helpful reception and restaurant staff. Clean, tidy, and a very tasty breakfast. Relatively close to Trolltunga. I recommend staying at the Hardanger Hostel!

EstoniaYou could hear other doors slamming, you do not get a private bathroom, too many other people, very little room for parking - parking shortage is a major problem! For that money (a little more than 100 Euros for a night) you actually get a good airbnb cottage in other picturesque parts of Norway.
Very clean and fresh linen, well equipped common kitchen, a very beautiful location on the fjord bank: take a stroll down the hill to the church and graveyard and fjord waters! Breakfast was fair enough.

UkraineParking was busy and finding a spot was a bit difficult. Navigation inside the hostel could be improved, it took some time to locate the room, shared kitchen, and breakfast area in the morning. The shared kitchen was not clean, there was an unpleasant odour in the fridge.
We arrived around midnight, but we contacted them in advance about our late arrival, and they arranged everything well, keys were left in a box by the entrance, which made check-in easy. The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the view from the window was beautiful.

United KingdomThe rooms are small, the shared showers/toilets, and the floor are not very clean. The kitchen is not fit for sharing, so you'd have to wait for cooking, but then it is locked at 22:30. However for the price it works.
The price, good breakfast, friendly staff, located in a beautiful area.

AustraliaFull credit to the staff, who are doing what they can with an ageing facility and some grotty travellers. Unisex showers only work if everyone is considerate. Here, my experience was that the women put up with the inconvenience of getting dressed inside their wet cubicle, while the men don’t extend the same courtesy and parade their tackle out in the vestibule.

Surrounding is very nice. I travelled with a child and senior citizen and has been very comfortable. Breakfast is very good as well. Kitchen is small but good enough for quick children food. Rooms have basin for brushing teeth etc.

CanadaCooking area in the kitchen was very small and bathroom facilities seem limitted for the numbers of rooms on the floor
Rooms and facilities were clean. Nice breakfast included, with an option to pay if you want a takeaway sandwhich, which I thought it was great and very convenient. Staff at the reception was great.

GermanyRooms are very basic, with bad isolation, the rooms facing the sun get very hot during the day and don’t cool down in the evening during summer. The curtains are too short to cover the whole window front which is very unlucky as it doesn’t get really dark or only very late in the night during summer. Small common kitchen. Breakfast starts late (7.30am), in case you want to do an early hike, they do not provide breakfast boxes even though you have to pay for the breakfast every day.
The hostel is well located, close to the fjord with nice swimming spots. Good starting point for activities and excursions such as Trolltunga.

PolandThe mattresses were a bit low quality to recover after Trolltunga hike. Not a big issue but it’s not possible to grab anything to eat or order lunchbox if you start the hike early in the morning.

NorwayThe beds weren't the best, at least in the room we had, but ok for one night.
It is located within a Folkehøgskole, so your room is a dormitory room with a private bath. You eat a buffet breakfast with the students if it is in session, but the breakfast was very good. Staff very friendly. Lowest price in the area when we were there.

United StatesI was out earlier than breakfast was served one morning and was told that I could access the coffee machine 24/7 but when I tried to get coffee and hot water early in the morning all doors were locked to the building where the coffee was.
Very quiet and clean, close to the various activities I was doing. Good selection for breakfast, refrigerator in each building to store personal food. Excellent dinner options available in a short 5 minute drive.

United KingdomThe sauna was not working when we were there and we had not been warned this would be the case. It was eerily quiet - we were there mid June - perhaps just not high season yet.
Beautiful setting although a steep walk up the hill so be warned. The staff were friendly and polite, if a little reserved. Breakfast was a decent spread and you can pay extra to take packed lunch from the buffet too. We were in a separate outbuilding which had its own small kitchen and lounge area which was nice. There are a few eateries and a shop within a short walk. Good location for Queen Sonja panoramic hike - you can take the bus from the church on the road under the hostel then walk back along the trail to near the hostel, or stop via an apple orchard/ciderie for a drink. There were some hammocks etc in the grounds although we did not use these as we were out walking all day. The robotic lawnmower was funny.
