How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe apartment is located in a beautiful house in the city center of amsterdam. The apartment itself is quite beautiful, with big windows, 5 beds, a kitchen, couches, it provided for an amazing stay. If you don’t mind about doing the property’s work for them you will have fun here.
I had to ask for the check in instructions thrice on two different platform to get them, even past the check in time. The property seemed to not care at all about my stay, they didn’t communicate the late checkout to the cleaning staff and honestly forget to collect my late checkout fee too. The shampoo and body wash in the shower were not shampoo and body wash but a conditioner and an after shower cream which was quite funny but also a bit frustrating The windows were open and there were no insect screens so the room was FULL of mosquitos and I didn’t manage to close my eyes that night which is very bad. All this wouldn’t be bad if the price wasn’t that high

Verified reviewPosition is great , central to many cafes and restaurants and lovely local wine bars . Canal view is vibrant and interesting .
Poor service , apartment needs maintenance , not functional , no where to hang clothes , no hangers , only 2 small towels provided over a 4 night stay , no bathmat or hand towels , no shower products , no AC , steep narrow staircase up to Apartments , shared kitchen not kept clean , messaging turned off over weekends although it’s hospitality.

Verified reviewThe location was great
It was really unclean throughout the entire property. We had a room and a separate bathroom on the same floor but the description makes it look like you have the entire apartment. A window was boarded up. The bin was not emptied in the room. The place was covered in dust. A mirror had fallen down. There was items left on the floor. The bathroom had a foul smell that we had to complain about and I was asked for a deposit despite that not being on the description (eventually this was said I didn’t have to pay). The WiFi was also poor.

Verified reviewThe location was amazing with the canal view. Communication was good with check in. It was also pretty quiet at night.
The room and the bathroom weren't as clean as the pictures on the listing and had extra furniture that made it feel crowded. There is a resident living on the first floor and therefore is using the kitchen for all of their meals so not all guests are short term. It was fine but that wasn't represented in the listing. The upper stair hallway lighting wasn't working and rooms had dim lighting.

Verified reviewConveniently located near the Rijksmuseum. We loved our view of the canal.
I didn’t realize our bathroom was not actually in our unit. Since we only stayed one night it wasn’t that big of a deal, but it did make things a bit inconvenient. Check in instructions were not sent ahead of time.

Verified reviewOnly thing that is good is the location, near Leidseplein, Museumplein, both 3 minutes walk.
Everything. Please be aware! There are 3 separate apartments on 3 floors. But notice, the kitchen is on the ground floor and is for all guests. So no privacy there and it is really dirty. So this is not true as mentioned; Elke kamer is voorzien van een televisie en koffie- en theefaciliteiten. Also you don't see the owner, all communication is per Whats app and the keys are in a small safe outside. The sent you the code. Furthermore the apartments are really dirty. On the 3rd floor is a family room with a separate bathroom, but you can't lock the bathroom, so every guest could get in. The apartments are really noise and not comfortable. Each door that opens or is closed you hear, actually all footsteps you hear. The also mention there is heating and airco. But those are nothing more than an electric camping heater. For safety they say there are fire extinguishers. only those are due already in 2018. When you sleep on the 2nd or 3rd and there would be a fire, you are in serious problems. Rooms are smoke free but all smoke from the outside you smell through the whole apartment.

Verified reviewLocation amazing as close to everything and on the canal Bed was comfortable and liked the bath as huge
Shared kitchen was left in a absolute mess - unhygienic and the tenant upstairs never cleaned up while we were there leaving dirty dishes in the sink Smelt of his cooking the whole time we were there and not welcoming to be a shared space No cleaning products available to clean under the sink - told host Dirty tea towel and only one available The host told him to clean up but it was a slow process getting him to comply We love cooking so felt upset that as the kitchen was so dirty we could not even use it So that part of the stay was not as described The room upstairs needs maintenance The sink in the bathroom is badly damaged , the blinds are all crooked and don’t close properly and tap on the sink was hanging off and needs repair The tv would not work either We were frustrated as it wasn’t managed well . I dealt with a lady online called Ursula and then it was a different lady when we got there Also stairs are very narrow as it is in a very old building so be careful if you have lots of luggage as awkward to get up

Verified reviewbig comfy bed and pillows!! best we have had in 5 weeks of travelling. the place looks just like pics, it was the perfect size for us and it's so cute. the views were insane! Canal right outside the window which is gorge! location was 10/10 too, all the shops you would need around you and a train station a 6 min walk away. Host was friendly and helpful too. please don't judge my messy photos, we were packing!
unusual smell in the bathroom, no big deal (not the first time we have come across this on our euro travels). shower door doesn't shut properly and floor can get slippery so be careful there. staircase is quite steep so hard to get big bags up. just to keep in mind if that would be a problem for you. you can hear a heap of noise from the street at night, I sleep with noise cancelling headphones on do didn't really affect me but it did for my partner. I would definitely stay here again though.

Verified reviewThe location and the views were perfect and the host who met us on the first day is lovely.
We didn't realize that it is a shared kitchen/dining area. It does say it somewhere on the booking information but it's very easy to miss. Would be good to include that somewhere clearer. But overall you are paying for the best location and the views of the canals which are amazing so if you don't mind the shared area than i'd recommend.

Verified reviewLocation was superb .
Safety- - the room lock was faulty, dangerous . The key code was 1234, and despite telling the owner about the leak through booking.com, nothing was done. So we secured and tied our door to the cabinet in the room . It’s crazy and should not have happened. This issue was raised by others more than a year ago and NOTHING was done. - there was weed smell when we checked in. Obviously someone was smoking which concerned us even more ! - NOISY - lots of noise from late night revelers - standing lamp was not working. - fan was working but lost a wheel which means it was not stable. - bathroom sink was made of marble and secured by wires bolted to the wall cos the legs were broken/unstable. - bathroom blinds were faulty - bedroom windows are faulty . Can’t be opened .

Some uneven flooring and a bad odour coming from the bathroom. Also beware of the stairs with big suitcases, they are very steep and very small.

Verified reviewThe only reason we chose to stay at the apartment was because it said they had air conditioning. There definitely was NOT any air conditioning. There were a few fans in the room but that is all. The room was so unbelievable hot that night that we considered packing up and going home, but it was late and we were too tired to drive. I had my children and parents with me and we had two rooms. We were miserable. The rooms were nice but ruined by false advertisement. Also, the refrigerator was pretty gross with open food plates and containers and it hadn't been cleaned in a while.

TV doesn't work and Air conditioning I think 40years old becouse he is super loud and don't really work. I will never choice this place again
