We had a fantastic stay at Red Pepper. The room was very comfortable, clean, very well designed and stylish. The rooms are behind the restaurant/office, so the street noise is not noticeable. The roof top deck with hammocks and chairs was a great place to relax during the heat of the day, and in the evening. The location is great - lots of restaurants within a few minutes walk, and a small market nearby. Unfortunately we missed staying during the nights that the restaurant at Red Pepper was open. Our hosts, Mariken and Marc were welcoming, helpful, and good at communicating. I highly recommend Red Pepper!

Absolutely wonderful stay! Wish we could have stayed longer. The room was bigger than it looks in the pictures, everything was spotlessly clean and you an see the effort the owners have put into designing and maintaining the property. We were welcomed with a smile and suggestions of where to eat and what to do. There is a communal kitchen which had everything you need and more should you wish to cook or make coffee or tea. The roof terrace was a great place to hang out and felt relaxing and private. Highly recommend!

We were made to feel at home instantly! The whole place is completed to a high finish and is very clean and well laid out. One of our favourite places we stayed during our trip. I cannot recommend enough.

The best accommodation during my travels in Nicaragua, in fact I stayed longer than expected. Pretty close to the beach, supermarket and restaurants/bars. The room has everything you need and it looks exactly like the pictures; your own terrace with hammocks are just perfect. Don’t miss the Curry Night on Monday. Marieke and Marc are absolutely amazing hosts, very friendly and helpful. Dank je wel!

We loved our stay at Red Pepper so much! It has to be one of our favourite stays of our 7 months travelling. It felt beautifully homey with the welcoming Marc and Mariken hosting us as well as the incredible curry night! The room was spacious, clean and well thought out - with all the little things that you need! The rooftop terrace was the perfect spot to relax and watch the ocean. I would recommend this amazing accomodation to anyone!

Great owners and staff, clean / quiet / modern rooms with an upper deck for sitting, great communal kitchen, easy check-in, quick responses to questions, good wifi. Very close to the beach and a small grocery store. All-in-all a great place to stay.

My only con would be that my room was next to another property that had quite a noisy family staying there. They were only noisy during the day, so if you are planning to be out and about you will not even notice it!

This was a great beach escape for me, from the warm welcome of the owners, to the clean and well maintained room, access to a kitchen and easy access to the beach. All I needed. I am just sad I missed the famous curry night, but I will have to come back for that! :)

Red pepper is the perfect stay for couples. Fairly priced, built with great attention to detail, and managed in a very sustainable way. Everything works perfectly. Tidy rooms, each with its own terrace on top, and a complete kitchen. Mariken and Mark are lovely hosts and we ended up extending our stay. Would really recommend the curry night on Monday and Wednesday; excellent food and affordable prices.

10/10, great stay. Location is perfect, rooms are big and clean and have their own little terrace, and the people are friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Popoyo. Highly recommended!

The room is very hot. First night, I did not sleep well. I had to ask for a fan and it was an extra that I had to pay for every night. The fan helped and I slept well. But I think it should be included. Also, the pictures haven’t been updated and there is almost no view on the beach. I was a bit sad when I realized it because I booked to have a view ! But I ended up not caring that much afterwards because its so beautiful and clean and comfortable!

It was so so clean. I loved how they take care of their space. It was so beautiful. The kitchen was soooo clean and well organized. Small with only 4 rooms which makes it cozy and friendly. We met amazing people. I loved the deck ! It was amazing to chill and do yoga. I really enjoyed my stay.

It gets hot, you will need a fan but it's cheap. I am not a fan of aircons so I thing it is the way to go but they need a strong fan in the room with more ventilation. There is a house with farm animals almost across the road. Their dogs are anorexic. It was heartbreaking going passed this we tried to feed them daily while we were there.

If you want self service it's excellent close to supermarket and excellent kitchen facilities. Don't but crisps from the supermarket. Roof terrace with hammock and rocking chair and clothes line. Close to the beach. Good size rooms.

Amazing guesthouse moments away from the beach. Each room has its own private terrace with hammocks and seats - the perfect area to relax. The room was lovely and spacious - exactly like the pictures. Marc and Meriken were amazing hosts - make sure you book in for curry night and noodle night! We extended our stay as we loved it so much. Hopefully we will be back in the future!

We loved our time at Red Pepper ☺️

We LOVED Red Pepper! We originally booked for 10 days and ended up staying for 20. Mark and Mariken were wonderful, and were so generous with their time and knowledge of the area. We loved having the peace and quiet of our private rooftop. After travelling for 8 months, Red Pepper was the first place we extended our stay—twice! The Monday curry and Wednesday noodles can’t be beat. We cooked almost all of our meals except Monday and Wednesdays because we loved Marks cooking so much. We opted to rent an additional fan to help keep us cool at night. It’s about a 15 minute walk to Finca, where you can rent boards and surf the Popoyo break, and about 25min to Beginners Bay. We enjoyed the walk as a warm-up for surfing!

- The rooms do get a little hot in the evenings. We were in the front room so perhaps this is due to this room getting the sun all day.

The only challenge can be getting here and away, particularly if there is some bad weather as we had. But it is so worth it!

Just wonderful. It is so well designed and we felt at home instantly, the room is so comfortable with the breeze coming through and the only sound you hear at night is the crashing waves of the Pacific. The rooftop terrace is a lovely place to read and reflect, and you are just steps away from the beach. Marc and Mariken are great hosts and we enjoyed the Indonesian noodle night too!
