Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NicaraguaI think if you were to work in the point of view of people who pays extra to have the ocean view would give it a really good boost. because, although it was infront of the ocean it has trees, cabanas, etc and all of that just interrupt what you were looking for.
It was a very good experience, the room was not what you would think extremely awesome but still high good. I think balance between price-quality was totally achieved, of course the portion of breakfast can be better but the service was beyond awesome. the way you arrived to the place is horrible but being in that place is some comfortable you'd like to stay for a very long time. Thanks for the service,

GermanyI genuinely don’t understand how this place can call itself an “Eco Resort” while almost every aspect of its operations contradicts that label. - They use plastic straws (many places in Nicaragua have already moved on to reusable ones). - Toiletries are single-use and disposable instead of refillable dispensers. Just a basic eco standard. - The menu is overwhelmingly meat-heavy, with just one sad veggie pasta and a plain salad as the only vegetarian options. It's almost comical how little thought has gone into sustainability here. No indication of organic or locally sourced ingredients either. - No sign of renewable energy use. In fact, there is a loud diesel generator in the backyard. - Zero effort for water conservation. The toilets leak constantly, and there isn’t even a polite reminder in the rooms to consider water usage. The list goes on but this was easily the least eco-conscious hotel I’ve stayed at in Nicaragua—and ironically, the only one that markets itself as an “Eco Resort.” It feels like false advertising, and it’s a shame because the location has real potential.
The location can't get better than this. A stunning ocean beach and there is no establishment other than this hotel. The rooms are big and comfy. The beach-facing rooms also come with a nice ocean view. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you are surfing, there is a little shop where you can rent equipment or take lessons. The prices are reasonable and the soft boards are new. But the best thing is waking up with the sunrise and surfing all by yourself on this amazing beach. The best surfing experience I've ever had. Or if you are not an early-bird, the sunset surf is pretty solid too :)

SwedenSometimes it took really long time to get our food in the restaurant and we experienced the staff to be a little unobservant. The rooms could have been better but it was worth the low price. We wished the hotel/restaurant staff had better skills in the english language.
Amazing good lacation. We loved that it was remote and felt adventerious. Great food to resonable prices.

FranceYou do need a car to get there comfortably. If you have any specific wishes, follow up directly via WhatsApp or phone. On weekends it becomes quite full during the day with day pass visitors and loud music.
Beautiful, secluded place, we’ve been a few times and love it. In the mornings and evenings you have the whole beach to yourself, staff are very nice and food is good. Good surfing spot for beginners.

SwitzerlandA 4x4 would be helpful to drive the final kilometers to the resort. We had only a standard limousine and the road (mud/small rivers) was a bit of a challenge. Food and drink options are good, but the service stopped around 7pm
As it was the only hotel at this beach, the atmosphere was really laid back. The beach was beautiful, big and there were some nice waves, allowing to surf.

CanadaThe rooms were very basic. There wasn't much air circulation at night, and it was very stuffy. We had to turn on the fans, whereas if the lodge had been built with a bit more care, it could have greatly benefited from the cool ocean breeze. We were the only guests for a few nights and later, closer to the weekend, one or two more rooms were occupied.
The eco lodge is right on Playa Hermosa beach. The food was good and the staff were great.

United KingdomRestaurant opening hours: it closed 5pm and, we were told, open 8am. But in reality food isn't served from 8am. Our breakfast was served 940am on two mornings we stayed. Since the hotel rules prohibit guests bringing own food/ coolers, and it is remote without nearby amenities, it's unfair to ecolodge guests when food service stops early evening and isn't available until late morning
Beautiful location, friendly staff, good quality food, reliable WiFi

CanadaIt's called an ecolodge but I suspect that's only because they don't have to clean the room or provide more comforts. No hot water; not really a problem because it was so hot and there is no AC. There were a lot of gaps for bugs and critters to get into the room. Being that no one is there past 6:30pm, the rooms should be equipped with a mini fridge and drinking water should be available. We were not given instructions about what to do in the event of an emergency - no phone service available and didn't know if anyone was on-site in the evening.
It was the best location I've ever stayed in. The staff was pleasant.

South AfricaSince the only restaurant closes at sunset, it would be good to have access to a fridge and coffee maker when everything has shut down.
The location is spectacular and the free breakfast excellent. We stayed in a sea-facing room at the top and it was great. Good surfing, no loud music, friendly staff. And all the day-trippers go back to SJDS in the afternoon, leaving the place all to yourself.

CanadaSince we had a car - the location on a massive private property 7 kms from town, wasn’t an issue for us to visit other beaches.
Playa Hermosa is a lovely quiet beach with pleasant rustic accommodations . The staff is very friendly and the menu selection is good. I loved the sopa de pollo- chicken soup with veggies! Gorgeous sunsets. (Note it is busier on weekends. Since it is on a salty ocean - wear and tear on fixtures is to be expected) We REALLY like it here.

AustraliaPhotos: misleading and outdated. The room was dirty, the fly screens had large holes and very hot. This is not a 'resort' and should not be called a resort. This is nowhere near worth what we paid. This is a $20 a night 'guesthouse' Food was average to poor, made me sick on 2nd day. Undercooked rice. Menu had no healthy options. Only told us it was free to refill water after we purchased it for 24 hours. The next door neighbours partied until 3AM keeping us awake all night. I would not recommend this hotel and the listing should be changed as it was misleading. If you are going to stay, expect a very budget lodging (worse than a hostel) and bring a car so you can get out of there and get food or go to different places.
The staff at the restaurant were nice and friendly. The pancakes were good. Alcohol and cocktails relatively cheap The beach itself was beautiful and my partner loved the surfing.

CanadaThe rooms were disgusting. Very dirty and uncomfortable. I tried to not think about the foam mattress without a mattress protector - years of sweaty people sleeping on it. It smelled badly. This was the second time we’ve stayed. The first time we had upstairs rooms which were slightly better. The appeal is the location, not the lodge.
The location is unmatched; absolutely awesome location and it’s wonderful to wake up to a private beach. They’ve been working on the access road which makes it very nice to drive, even in a sedan.

DenmarkNo ECO Resort at all. We did not see or feel any sustainability at all. We even asked.. It's a private beach but let's people pick all turtles eggs for eating in the nigth time and even toke one guest out for hunting leguanas. The terasse and the rooms was terrible organized with very little restoration. No dayligth could enter even the room facing the beach. Taps running, wholes the terasse floor etc.
Great location at the beach. That's nearly all.

United StatesIf there was a little something they could do about the bugs in the room that would be nice. Hot water would have been alright. As a contractor I noticed the electrical could use some maintenance by the cabanas. Few little tweaks and that would really help!
