How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room was really nice- modern, clean, spacious and freshly decorated. I really liked the room. The breakfast selection was great also. The staff in the restaurant and bar area were great. The evening activity brought people together and I enjoyed that. The shuttle to pick you up is great also.
For the price of an individual room I think there should be a hairdryer. There is a distinct lack of comfortable seating in the beach and bar area. One day it rained bringing everyone in to the bar area and the wooden chairs. Sitting for hours in a swimsuit at those tables wasn't comfortable at all. Maybe a section with some hammocks near the beach or some more cushions (not just those few at the front of the seated section) I would have preferred more small snacks on the menu as three full meals a day is a lot.

Verified reviewThe location and amenities were absolutely amazing. The crater lake swimming and kayaking were very relaxing, and the hang out area of the hotel was great.
Food was a little expensive but very tasty. I also wish there were more tour options other than Masaya.

Verified reviewThe staff is very friendly and professional. The property is clean and well cared for and they’re always making improvements.
I feel it’s overpriced for Nicaragua. At $80 plus tax per night. It’s very high. The food is overpriced as well. And they really need to get better coffee.

Verified reviewParadiso is a fun place to stay at the beautiful lagoon. The water is nice and you get to use kayaks and tubes to chill in the water. my kids had a lot of fun. The Restaurant is pricey but the quality of the food and drinks are really good
The room was very small and you could hear everything the neighbours were doing or saying. Due to the weather the room is a bit moist so not really a comfy stay. Staying for 2 nights was enough.

Verified reviewBeautiful little piece of paradise right on the water! My husband and I enjoyed our time swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, relaxing on the beach, and playing some pool. The surrounding nature is gorgeous and the architecture of the buildings looks like it's straight out of a movie! The staff were friendly and spoke English quite well. One of the girls volunteering here also did an awesome job at organizing nightly activities. Our room was very clean and nice, and the food was also good, with some meals standing out a bit more than others.
While the room was nice, it was very much so not sound-proof. You'd think this wouldn't be a big issue being outside of the city, but we were awoken very early each morning by very loud honking of vehicles driving on the surrounding road. I think it might be a safety thing for them to communicate with other vehicles and pedestrians on the windy roads, but I'm not gonna lie it was not my favourite thing. The AC unit, though certainly a life-saver in many ways, also had a tendency to beep periodically during the night (there might be an easy fix to that, but my husband and I couldn't figure it out besides just turning it off). Additionally, while we did appreciate the two bath towels we were given, there was no hand towel and beach towels cost extra, meaning our bath towels got wet and stayed quite wet. Lastly, the food and service was generally quite good, but there was one time where I don't know what happened but our food took more than an hour to come out and we ended up missing the timeslot for kayaking that day. Overall a nice spot, but just a few things to keep in mind :)

Verified reviewBetter to spend the night there; the dorms are comfortable, modern and clean, with your own reading lamp and fan. When the day crowd wears out, it gets quiet, and you can almost fall asleep in the hamack at the sound of the jungle. The premises are one of the better of the area, lots of place to work or chill. There's pancakes and fruits for breakfast.
There are not many food options in the area.

this is a hotel that is built on the hillside and there are many stairs to get anywhere. If you require any special accommodation for that this is not the place for you. However if you are fit and in reasonable shape this is a perfectly beautiful, enchanting, delightful place to stay. But in no way accessible.

Verified reviewIt’s like paradise. They go out of their way to organize events pretty much every evening. There is also a nice work area for people who are doing workation. The only improvement I recommend would be wifi going up to the rooms in the back. It’s super weak currently and with no cell network

Verified reviewThe staff was very kind and approachable. The bedroom was really good and in general, the games areas were good too.
The menu needs to improve. Please include traditional nicaraguan food such as soups, leche agria, quesillo, vigorón, baho, nacatamal and maybe international cuisine since many tourists may also like to eat their traditional food. Please also add an easier entrance for elders or people with canes. The up and down stairs may be difficult for them.

Verified reviewParadiso Laguna is a true gem, located right on the beautiful Laguna. The water is slightly warm and incredibly inviting—perfect for relaxing swims. The food here blew me away. I had one of the best fish meals in the last three months—perfectly grilled and packed with flavor. The kitchen really knows what it's doing. What stood out most was the staff. Everyone is extremely well-trained and attentive, which clearly reflects great management by the owners. It made the stay even more enjoyable. The dorms are comfortable, with a fully functioning AC. Bathrooms are spotless, the toilet is spacious, and the shower is impressively large. Honestly, I can’t get enough of this place. Highly recommend!

There is limit spots to sit at by the beach due to all the people that bought day passes and then set their items on the table and swim the whole time.
