The shower is barely a drip. I second the reviews that say they’d prefer a bucket shower. You could barely even rinse the soap it was so pitiful. I think they were doing maintenance or cleaning something in the middle of the night? Lots of people walking around with headlamps on that shone into the room and woke me up. But they didn’t make any noise so maybe that’s ok for you.

Great place to relax and rejuvenate. I came here in search of a nice place to rest after a rowdy few days in Leon and this did just the trick. Wish I could have stayed longer! They have plenty of hammocks for chilling, delicious food and smoothies in the bar, and it’s right on the beach for a quick dip or some suntanning. There’s even volleyball :) The rooms are open-air and right next to the kitchen but even though I could hear everyone, I still managed to go to sleep early while everyone was awake and the lights did go out around 10pm as promised.

Morning surprise: Bat shit and it's all over the room. Then a weak, drippy shower that tests your patience. C'mon, why do so many hotel owners think that this would save water? I'd rather use the bucket shower to get my day started than standing under that a fancy bamboo pole but only restricted by a plastic insert with tiny holes. There you have it... little morning unpleasantry that will soon dissipate.

Everyone loves this place. Lots going on for dorm folks, for surf learners, for folks who just want to hang out, maybe to meet other travelers. Maybe not. Nice rooms upstairs until you discovered that you had visitors overnight. Some staff is friendly, some has seen too many people coming and going. Food, drinks for your hunger and thirst. Decent, not the best, but it'll be delivered as you sit staring out at the surf. Can't be bad. Free coffee before 9am. Free water. Free use of kitchen, I didn't - was just happy hanging out for a few days even when it rained a lot.

Exceptional place, the most amazing hostel I have ever visited. It has all you need for your stay. The food and drinks are so good. The owners are super cool and the staff is absolutely brilliant. The beach is absolutely fantastic and this place is a heart of the area. There are plenty of activities on offer, including onsite surfing school. Or you just can spend your time relaxing in hammock. The meal choices are well priced and delicious. The hosts are very helpful. Make sure you sign up for beach bbq when offered.

The bats poop every morning, not much to do about the bats but if the room could be sweep without having to ask would be better.

Really nice hostel on the beach with lots of activities and tours. There's a bar and really good food, plus you can pay card which is rare in Las Penitas. Room was really nice and spacious, we love the hamacs too. Nice people working there.

On a note in the room we found out that Fred the bat was living in our room. At first we didn't matter that much, but the amount of bat-shit in the morning that was scattered all over the room turned out not to be that pleasant. They cleaned it up though, but still I think they should take care of this in an other way as it felt quite unhygienic.

Beautiful location, very social, a lot of activities and things to do offered by the hostel. Cool place to hang out!

I was so happy with my stay. Both mornings there was a power cut lasting a few hours so couldn’t charge phone or get wifi but other than that I really cannot complain .

We loved everything- it was PERFECT. The best hostel we have stayed in Nicaragua. The location, the beautiful and comfortable rooms, the restaurant, and above all, the staff. We took surf lessons with Kelvin and those were the best surf classes we had so far. He gives you a lot of theory and picks up exactly where you want to start from. We did surf skate as well in his extra time. We can only highly recommend his classes. You can surf right in front of the hostel which is a dream. We were very sad to leave

We came with our little son and all the staff was very sweet and relaxed with him. The Hostal kitchen is well equipped and the restaurant is great with reasonable prices. Stunning sunsets and loads to do. We felt at home.

The food portions were a bit small

Great Hostel right at the beach. After one night we kept extending because we really liked the vibe and the comfort of the hostel. The staff always kept everything clean, the beds had mosquito nets and the common areas had a lot of space to relax. Even though there's not a lot going on in this area, it's great for having some relaxing days here.

The owners at least can change the fridge. The door is falling, the oven/hob is very very old and bad. The fridge door fell off on my wife's foot.

We liked the location the most. 10m from the ocean. The staff were helpful and very kind (especially Alex). He was always first to jump to answer, to help and to correct if there was any wrong.
