Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe food is bad. We tried the burger, the burrito, the nachos, the tostones, the vegetarian plate, breakfast… nothing was decent. And it is expensive. So, definitely not worth it. Bring your own food and enjoy the stay! I recommend staying during weekdays, which is more peaceful and you can actually enjoy the place. We had a group of people on a Sunday that got very drunk on the dock (there’s no protocol about alcohol in the place) and one of them vomit all over the dock and the lake. No one took them out and they continued drinking there. Until I asked the manager to do something about it.
The location is great, the installation are simple but good, it is clean. The place is very peaceful during weekdays.

CanadaRestaurant closed very early, which wasn’t the most convenient for us to have an evening drink, because we had to go to another venue and then walk back in the dark.
We really enjoyed kayaking and the floating dock, your staff were also very friendly.

CanadaFun to splash around in the beautiful warm clear-watered lagoon, fun to borrow their free, included options of paddleboards and kayaks. The staff was all pleasant and helpful. The food we had was decent and not crazily priced. The beds were comfortable and clean with spacious lockers next to the beds with plenty of space for a suitcase and a backpack. Beautiful location and wonderful spot to spend a few nights being peaceful.

CroatiaIn the restaurant the prices are apsurdly high (at first they seem normal, but they put a disclaimer that taxes are not included in the price - how would I know what are taxes in Nicaragua? just write down the final price, making me less suprised that I will pay 15$ for a simple meal). In 4 nights, no change of towles or room cleaning. Kitchen is nice but poorly equiped (only 2pairs of cutlery of each, you literally have to wait your turn if there are more guests using a kitchen). If you like peace, I suggest to avoid weekends as there are many people coming in the laguna for a day. Also, next door hotel has parties until midnight or so during the weekend (really loud music, and your windows are basically always opened). And for the end NO HOT WATER (they said it is in the description, but its not as its not anywhere).
We really enjoyed our stay here (4 nights) - great place to stay for few days, but if you are with a car (rentacar, Masaya and Granada are 15-20min drive). Water is nice and warmer from the ocean, lots of shade. Rooms was nice, nothing special but clean and big bathroom. Lots of friendly animals. Very clean! You can use the kitchen so I suggest you equip yourself with food and drinks because its not worth it to buy or eat from restaurant.

United KingdomThe restaurant could be improved, the food was fine and reasonably priced but nothing amazing. It took a while to get a servers attention to order. In the mornings/evenings sometimes there was no one around to even ask to order. They don’t provide free filtered water which was an anomaly to every other place I’ve stayed in Central America so far.
Right on the water and can use their kayaks/paddleboards for free. Nice and quiet during the week. Saw a whole family of monkeys in the trees! The staff were also very friendly.

NicaraguaThis isn't a place for you if you're a light sleeper. In the dormitory, we could hear everything that was happening outside, from the party next door until late at night to the people shouting in the showers at 5am. Food was average, little choice for vegetarians
The location is overall enjoyable. The shower and toilets were clean, and soap/shampoo were available. There were lockers in the dormitory to lock our things. Free coffee in the morning

IrelandThe Double Room that we had was fine and clean but nothing special. The blinds on the windows were a bit awkward - they were made of bamboo and tied up in an ad hoc manner that made it difficult to pull down or put back up. Note: The restaurant / bar closes at 7pm. It actually felt as though the whole place closed overnight even though guests were staying which we found a bit strange
The ability to swim, SUP and kayak in the Laguna from here is fantastic and hard bet! They have 2 pontoons out in the water which was great. They also have the most fun dog who comes swimming with guests and can even climb up onto the pontoons!

United KingdomIt is quite a steep steps down to the waters edge (you are in a volcanic crater after all!) So might be difficult if infirm. Rooms VERY hot as they have solid plastic windows that don't open. Fans are ok, but expect a sticky nights sleep. Can have a/c for an extra $10 a night. I can't sleep with a/c as I find it too cold, but it's needed to cook the room down in the first place.
So good we stayed here twice as long! Truly and amazing location: you can see most of the caldera. The water is warm - can be super warm in places where the volcanic springs go into the lake. Reasonable price for drinks and food (remember to add tax!). Wifi good. Howler monkeys nearby (but not too close). Didn't seem to be many biting insects. Lots of ospreys and other birds. They have a brown labrador that is v friendly and will stick close to you of you take her swimming and throw stones in the lake for her (someone please take her a rubber ball or some old tennis balls!). It's amazing how she can climb on the pontoons! Lots of fish, take mask and snorkel. They will give your feet a spa treatment if you sit still!

United KingdomKitchen was okay but not amazing - lacking basics (eg no cutlery so always had to go to the restaurant to ask? Strange set up).
The location was stunning - beautiful gardens and lovely lakefront property so perfect access to swim. Pontoons in the lake plus paddle boards and kayaks all for free use were great fun. View from our room was lovely. Bathroom was nice and very clean, same for our room which was a pleasant temp at night thanks to two fans. Staff were always very friendly

GermanyTiny things, the smell of cleaning agents was a bit strong in our room and the filtered water was empty so we had to buy bottles.
The Laguna Beach Club has two faces. During the day it is a popular spot for families and groups to hace a party and enjoy the Laguna de Apoyo. If you are looking for a quite spot to relax, it can be a bit too much during the day depending on the day. Still, the free kayaks are great and the warer of the laguna very clear and wonderful. The day visitors leave around 6 pm and don’t arrive before 9 am. Between these hours, the spot is beautiful, quiet and a bit magical with howler monkeys and Nicaraguan birds waking you up in the morning. I would recommend it again. The personal is very helpful, kind and very approachable.

NicaraguaIt gets really loud and crowded during the day. Restaurant and bar close at 6pm, so you might not be able to get food and drinks when you come back from a daytrip and want to hang out at night.
I have stayed at Laguna Beach Club about 10 years ago and had a great time. Since then it has heavily extended its day tourist business which makes the place pretty busy and not very quiet and relaxing during the day. We did day trips to escape the crowds and it was beautiful and calm in the mornings. The lagoon is one of my favorite places in Nicaragua. Laguna Beach Club is affordable and staff is very friendly and accomodating.
