Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyAn iconic little village in the heart of the Namibian desert. Great place for a break along the way, with good food, famous pastries, and the evocative atmosphere of abandoned old vehicles that make it a scenic and memorable stop.

Beautiful facility in the middle of the Namibian Desert. An excellent base to see surrounding sites. Good food and wonderful staff. They offer an excursion to see cheetahs and have excellent mountain bikes available for rent. There’s also a bakery on the property that has superb pastries, especially the apple pie.

SwitzerlandNothing to dislike
The hotel is charming and clean with modern rooms and a nice bathroom. Genuinely in the middle of nowhere but busy with people passing through, and only the lucky few staying over. Braai and selection of sides for dinner. Nice breakfast.

United KingdomEverything! The room was lovely and set in a great courtyard with pool. The food at restaurant / bakery was good. Shop on site. Staff lovely. The whole site has a querky USA Midwest feel. We also visited the cheetah conservation project with Nico as a guide. Totally awesome.

South AfricaTo much to like, so the don't likes dont feature.
Apparently, this place has history. My parents stayed at the road house many years ago and now I have been there. First impressions were not great, because there was no wifi to make our payments etc, but after that it just kept improving. Rooms were basic, showers were hot, and beds were comfortable. The restaurant staff were super. They were so friendly and attentive and way exceeded my expectation. I wish I could remember their names, but you guys are the difference. The morning vibe is electric there. The garage is full, the bakery is stocked with bread, pies and sandwiches and the 4x4s are ready for the next leg of the Namibian trip. Such a nice spot.

United StatesSmoking was allowed outside the rooms but the rooms were all close together. But this was only a problem one of the three nights we stayed there and just for a short time.
The cafe and the bakery made exceptional food, especially the cafe (as we ate more often there and it was more varied). The staff was extremely helpful and they even told us about the mountain lodge which is another nearby property run by the same owner. It was nice to go up there and chill for a bit in a different location. The cheetah viewing option at a nearby location via tour was well worth it and seemed quite ethical in their approach (the cheetahs were kept in capitivity because their mother was injured when they were small and thus unable to care properly for them; she has recently died, but the 4 cubs are 9 years old now and seem to be doing quite well). There is also nice viewing of a communal yellow mongoose and ground squirrel den behind one of the campsites that is also associated with the hotel. Gas is available here as well as a decently stocked little market with curios and books available. A nice quiet historic church is available for those who want to use it as a quiet space. During the day this is a stop over for tourists on their way to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei so the cafe, gas station, market, and bakery are quite busy from about 9-4 but outside those hours, especially in the evening it is quiet, just you and a few other guests and workers plus a trillion stars above.

Czech RepublicA hair drier was missing in the room, that was probably the only tiny thingy.
Such a beautiful place in the middle of nowhere on our way to Sesriem and Sossusvlei. It's very calm, quiet, with a nice restaurant, shop and gas station. They also have a bakery nearby, try the apple pie. We had such a nice 1-nighter here. Find a bit of time to observe the night sky as well.

SingaporeFor the price, small things are missing. I hey should invest in proper shampoo and shower gels. Bathrooms should also have clothes hooks (not everyone undresses before stepping in to the bathroom). A TV and hairdryer would be appreciated too.
Looks new and quirky. Outside is desert chic.

South AfricaI think it will be good if people working there, could learn about the history if Solitaire to tell the visitors. That would make the experience at Silitaire more interesting. Nobody could give me any information about any building or history

SlovakiaSolitaire roadhouse is hardly-miss-place for roadtrippers visiting Sesriem. It is definitely the best value for the money: Perfect position for Sesriem / Walvis Bay / Windhoek cruising. The lodge is very stylish: chain of big rooms surrounding a desert garden decorated with sukulent (cactus) flowers. In the middle of garden there is refreshing pool. Place has restaurant with good food (breakfast, dinner) and the best bakery of 1000 kms around (definitely try famous apple pie). Wifi, hot water, nice staff, etc. all this makes Solitaire worth of visit. Walvis Bay: 3,5 hours, Sesriem: 2 hours (very bad road, but doable).
