Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaEverything was fantastic, the dinners were delicious, the staff were kind and very helpful, plus the organisation of the excursions was simply great! Would highly recommend this place to anyone who's planning on visiting Sossusvlei.

BelgiumA bit spartan, but hey … you re in the middle of the desert.
The place is completely hidden from the road, after a short drive you discover this oasis. Cars can be parked under a roof, and the rooms and bathrooms are a bit spartan but very okay. The staff is great! On the first night we joined a bbq under the stars in a secluded area, the second night we had a fixed dinner which was also very good. The pool area is super. Sunsets were wonderfull. Don’t forget to stop at the bakery in Solitaire. There sell a lot more then their apple pie!

United KingdomAbsolutely beautiful location with our rooms, pool and breakfast having fantastic views over the desert. The photos don’t do it justice. Everyone was so welcoming and the location was great to drive from Windhoek and close enough to get up early and head to Sousselvlei for a sunrise walk. Amazing stars at night and a lovely 4 course meal for supper. Thank you for our lovely stay.

IndonesiaThey don’t provide drinking water in the room. So bring along your drinking water with you.
The receptionist was really friendly and took us to our room. We left early in the morning and he gave us breakfast boxes since we didn’t have time to have breakfast on the spot. The sunset was really beautiful and at night we can see the milky way. The room was spacious and the wifi signal was okay in the room. The view from the pool was superb, though the pool wasn’t really clean 😅 You can also climb the rock hill beside the lodge.

GermanyValue for money is not great, the place is very expensive. You clearly pay a high premium for the location and being just about in reach for visiting Sossusvlei (but count on driving an hour on badly corrugated roads in the dark). The rooms and also breakfast are decent, but not the luxury standard which you would expect for the price.
Awesome setting that is really hard to beat. The design of the place integrated into a rocky desert is just perfect. Staff is friendly and helpful. Dinner was really very good. Packed (but a bit minimalistic) breakfast available if you want to leave early for Sossusvlei.

Lodge with the most beautiful sunset seen in Namibia. The room has a classic style, spacious and with animals that approach near the lodge. There is also an artificial waterhole with a post for animal sighting. The dinner both inside and outside was fantastic. Highly recommended.

South AfricaWe only spent one night unfortunately.
The place is exceptional, the location is the best we experienced in this part of Namibia and this is the best value for money. The dinner in the boma was the best buffet meal we have had compared to other larger and much more expensive lodges! I highly recommend this place. The website does not do this place justice, such a wonderful surprise, thoroughly enjoyed it!

DenmarkFood was a big let down, and the reason for my down-rating. I came to Namibia to experience everything Namibian but the food overall was bad, apart from one night with grill. The night with grill was really great. Each night offered a five course meal. The food was without taste, not local or authentic. To say the least it was disappointing! Breakfast is as breakfast will be with limited options but dinner was bad!
The property was in Beautiful & tranquil setting. The swimmingpool was perfectly situated with exceptional view of the landscape. Perfect opportunity to connect with nature and relax. The overall design of the property and location fitted the surrounding Nature. The concept and design was perfect. It all matched well. I had a great stay. The tours/excursions available at the property are great. I did all of them. They were beautiful and worth it. A must do for all. I spent many days there, and I had a great time.

SwedenNo wifi in the rooms, only around the restaurant and reception area, but that was not a big issue.
Excellent staff. Eriksson and Kai most helpful and service minded and with outstanding knowledge about birds and animals. We saw a lot of wildlife from our patio: oryx, wildebeest, springbook, jackal and many different kind of birds. Dinners in the evening under the stars. Food was very good.

AustriaVery few lodges have a view like Naukluft Lodge. It is located about 45 minutes from Sossusvlei, right by the Naukluft Mountains, precisely on the border between the Hardap and Khomas regions. The panorama and tranquility are overwhelming. From the terrace of each room, you can gaze across the vast savannah and a striking mountain backdrop on the distant horizon. Sometimes in the evening, a large herd of wildebeest comes right in front of the lodge to drink from the water. Oryx are scattered in the wide steppe grass. The lodge is very well-equipped. The brick bungalows are comfortable and stand out for the breathtaking view from the private terrace. A small pool with a shaded seating area provides cooling. The breakfast buffet is rich and sufficient, and the dinner is an excellent 4-course menu. The lodge offers shaded parking spaces for vehicles. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and attentive. We spent two nights here, and I will definitely come back.

GermanyWe had a family room which was ok, but we thought it would need some renovation i.e. could be more modern and comfortable for the price.
The lodge is in a very nice location next to a small rocky hill looking into the beautiful dessert countryside. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with all questions. The served menu was delicious and it was also possible to order it in a vegetarian version.
