Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA relatively large but very convenient lodge situated just outside the Etosha National Park. We stayed for a night before heading into the park for a few days. The lodge is popular with larger groups and can feel a little impersonal as a result. However, it is well set up and the staff are very friendly.

IndiaThe bathroom (shower area) has no doors or curtains and the setup was not convenient. We will not visit the lodge again just because of that.
The food was great, the staff was very friendly, the location with respect to the distance from Etosha park was very convenient.

NetherlandsOne of the staff members was quite rude to us when she messed up our drink order. That wasn't a huge deal, but upon check out, we had more staff issues as they were very disorganized and didn't split up our food/drink bills by room (we were traveling in a group and stayed in three different rooms), and we ended up getting overcharged and had to go through a process to get our money back (which we did end up getting back). So just a word of warning to pay attention to your bill.
A wonderful place for your safari stay! The rooms were very comfy, clean, and cute and the restaurant / lodge area has amazing nature views.

Angolawe had some issue when we book through booking.com I indicated we were 2 adults and 2 kids and their ages. the site recommended us to book and pay for two rooms which we did. when we arrived they gave us a family room and a single room. then we realized they we paid a lot for another room that was not required since the family room was enough for 4 persons it had enough space and beds. we talked to the hotel manager but he said since we did the booking via booking.com they could not do any cancellation of the second room and that we should complain to booking site. then they told us that booking had a no refund policy. i will place the claim to booking to check that can be done.
Place is great. Facilities are clean and nice close to entrance to Etosha. the safari was excellent and food is great.

United StatesWifi doesn't extend to the rooms or even the pool, and even at the reception, it's practically unusable, pretty disappointing considering the price and that other hotels around the region still manage to have it functioning. Rooms require a walk up a hill to get to the restaurant/reception area.
First Gondwana hotel experience. Buffet was very nice for dinner and breakfast. Multiple pools on the property depending on where your room is, we were closer to the reception so we used the main one which had a nice view. Nice location just ten minutes from the Anderson Gate to Etosha Park.

GermanyBasically no wifi, merely a very weak signal at reception. Did a game drives for 5 hours and saw a sleeping pair of lions. Apparently not a lot of animals on that CC side of park. Only hours of driving along gravel roads. Food was buffet style and definitely catered to the meat eaters. Perfect hotel for a big tour bus group. Not for individual travels, did not enjoy the busy-ness.
Rooms were spacious and clean.

CanadaThe waterhole had no water. Yes there has been droughts but yet the property had 2 swimming pools poorly utilized. We had been in Namibia a month and had done some amazing safaris. This wasn’t one of them. Despite being in Etosha, the route we took wasn’t frequented by many animals. Other safaris set up coffee and morning snacks at the midway point which was an excellent way to meet fellow travellers. This guided excursion didn’t. We cancelled the safari we had booked the following day.
Rooms were large, clean and comfortable with a small deck. Main lodge was nice with large deck, great for sunsets. Food was good and location excellent.

South AfricaFood not top notch for this level of accommodation. Should have golf cart rides to the rooms.
The Lodge is a few km outside Etosha reserve, so game drives are just a few minutes extra, but worth it. We were lucky to be allocated a family room so it was very spacious. We enjoyed evening sunsets with a cocktail in hand. Our game ranger our very knowledgeable and engaging.

United KingdomNo fridge in room, that little bit more expensive than other lodges.
I stayed for 2 nights with my 5 year old. It is a larger lodge than Toshari, the chalets were really nice - very private, food selection (buffet) was plentiful and tasty, and we did a breathtaking evening game drive from here. The sundowner deck is just fabulous, and I felt that the way dinner was served out on the deck with twinkling lights was really quite romantic. Our highlight was (by extremely good luck as we were unaware of the concert before we arrived) seeing the German opera stars sing on the deck, across Etosha and with in the background and the sun setting. It was absolutely magical.
