There were a lot of stairs to get to the room. The room is in need of an update: dirty walls. The duvet was far too small for the bed and bedding was very discoloured. The shower sometimes didn’t work, I had to go down to find out how it worked, someone came to help but then it didn’t work again. We also had to pay 8% on top of booking price when we arrived, it said this somewhere on this website but you’d need to look for it: it was not clear.

The room was large and we were able to put the sofa bed down to allow us to put suitcases on it. It had a small balcony too. We were able to walk to the tourist area from here. There is a cheap cafe next door we tried for dinner.

DON’T BOOK ISLAND HOPPING TOURS! We booked island hopping tour through the hostel and i can’t recommend that or doing any of the hopping tours!! The tour was very badly organised, we waited more than an hour at the harbour and when we got to the boat we made multiole stops picking stuff up and it took 30-45mins. The guide told us nothing what was going on. But the biggest reason why we can’t recommend is that they don’t care about the nature at all, the harbour is full of plastic and other trash, they don’t care about the coralreefs. they didn’t tell the people on the boat how to act at the reefs and that led tourists touching the corals and also some of the group dived with the guides and all their finns touched the corals… the reef is half dead and it was so sad to see that they didn’t care at all. We did timba-timba-mataking-pom pom tour and paid 180MYR when we booekd it but you have to pay 10MYR to get to timba timba island (only for taking photos, snorkeling is in a different spot) and 15MYR to get to the mataking island and it is only for having lunch, they don’t mention the fees anywhere when you are booking it.. We feel awful that we supported this kind of tourism that kills the nature :(

The room. It was just adequate for a place to sleep. But, no mirror. Very small. The photos on booking.com website aren't realistic. It's not smart at all. A shabby concrete floor.

The room was like a cupboard, very small with barely any floor space. Smelled of damp and needed to keep a shoe in the door often to circulate some air. No window. Probably fine for one or two nights but we struggled with the space.

Pretty central, 13 min walk to the jetty. Shared bathrooms were nice and clean. Free bread and spreads provided in the morning. Nice big kitchen / living area. Maybe look at the pictures better when booking as we were expecting the twin room on the photos but this isn’t what we got (our fault for not looking properly). Air con in the rooms.

Common room upstairs can be a bit noisy with footsteps. However, the curfew makes it quiet at night.

Very comfortable small rooms. Perfect for short-term stays. Public area upstairs was great for meeting other travellers. Front desk was helpful with questions regarding travelling back to Tawau.

extremely poor that as a town, therefore we must also contextualize the possibilities of hotel etc. It was a hostel with shared bathroom. The room had no windows or aeration, the bathroom was not so comforting but in the limit they tried to make him always find extremely clean for what it could be. Breakfast was included in the price and you could eat bread and jam even at snack that no one told you anything. Staff Very kind

The location is ok, you can walk to the bus station or jetty but this is not a city centre. This is a really cheap accommodation, we also booked the cheapest room so is not a surprise that room was tiny and without the window, so please bear that on mind.

Photos on the website match the reality. Cosy communal area, free breakfast, which we did not expect (toast, jam, peanut butter, coffee, tea), you can also use a fridge and refill your water. Hot shower, good wifi, few local and cheap places to eat.

Not many bathrooms and they're unisex, which may be annoying if it's a full house. A mirror in the rooms would be a good addition to make them feel larger.

Cosy and comfortable rooms with good air conditioning and a nice open common area. Very affordable in comparison to other hostels/hotels in Semporna considering it's similar to a pod, however, it's a private room. Definitely more for those who like to keep to themselves.

Perhaps an improvement in the bathroom facilities would be great, but it's no big deal especially for the price.

Have to say that we really liked this place. It might not be by the waterfront (which is a bonus since it is quieter), but that didn’t mean it did not have any conveniences nearby. It is really not far from the jetty anyway and it didn't take us more than 15 mins to walk there. There was a self-serve laundry virtually next door, it is surrounded by cafes and restaurants, there is a night market in the nearby car park (45 second walk), and there was space for parking right outside the accom. The room was clean, had all we needed, though a desk to work on would have been nice, but there was a communal area if really needed. The shower didn’t have a divider and there wasn’t any vanity space, but that’s a minor thing. A fridge is available in the communal area. We had a double room that was on the top floor – needed to carry up our luggage but we’re used to it. The bed was comfortable but the sofa was more like a park bench than a nice soft sofa. Just don’t sit into it too quickly – you’ll likely hurt your back. Staff were friendly and would help where they can. Slight language barrier with some of the staff though. Overall, we did like our stay at the accommodation and would recommend it, especially if you are not looking for fancy and if you happen to be a traveler from the west.
